I would like to say some things based in my experience about the discussion about this mother and the bios version.

First time i installed osx86, was with kalyway 10.5.1 and the 2008 BIOS version. In order the dvd installation run i writed cpus=1, so the dvd start. The same every time leopard start. then askin the topic i downgrade the BIOS version to 2007. After this (and enabling excute enabled bit) the cpus=1 was no longer necessary and leopard recognized both cores of my cpu.

But there is little bit problem. Only the 2008 version recognizes the cpu that have FSB at 1333 (like the core 2 duo e8400). Because i have an e4600 there was no problem but i installed leopard to a friend who bought a e8400. After the install, the problem was that cpu speed was slower in his hackintosh than mine (E8400 vs. e4600 mine), and in windows results was the same. So yesterday i discovered that the 2007 BIOS was misreading the FSB speed. I upgraded again to 2008 and windows results are ok now. But leopard doesnt start, i tried cpus=1, bios config, but nothing (i used kaly 10.5.2 in the install) I will try again in a few days. I think that leopard will be speeder with 2008 bios and only one core, that with 2007 and both cores but the FSB being misread it. Fow those who installed kaly 10.5.2 with 2008 bios, what are the bios config and the personalize options of leopard? If anyone know, aprecciated.

Thats all, and I expect this help somebody.

Bye and sorry for my bad english (i´m spanish)

I can confirm that my system was working perfectly until i did the latest bios update. I updated because i'm getting rid of the celeron and throwing in an 45nm core 2 duo so i had no choice. Now it no longer functions properly. *back to the drawing board*

Hi, new guy here. I've had my 945GCT-M/1333 V3 with E2200 running WinXP only @ 2.93 for several months now. Decided to make a dual boot with Win XP sp2. But my Kalyway DVD 10.5.2 keeps giving me errors about EBIOS read error. If I hit F8 at Darwin prompt, and type -x or -v or -s or -anything, including cpus=1, it goes to the very next screen of:

Darwin/x86 boot v5.0.132

2039MB memory

VESA v3.0 7MB (Intel® 82945G Chipset Family Graphics Chip Accelerated VGA BIOS)

Then it just sits there... I've left it on all night at that screen, nothing.

I've done all the BIOS changes, including cpuid limit/speed step/apc-disable; HPET/XD bit-enable

none of this work, all stuck at the same spot as above. I hope someone can make a suggestion to get this thing to work...

Here is my setup:

PCBV3 Bios 11/07/07 (according to boot screen) v2.58 (according to setup screen)

E2200 BSEL mod @ 2.93

2X1GB corsair RAM

Seagate 200G HD IDE

Liteon 20x DVDRW drive IDE

This board is really the unsung hero of the OSX86 community. It is SO easy to setup and very compatible. It would be so nice to get it working with the new bios, so we could throw a 45mm chip into it.

I agree

Load default settings in your bios, i didnt have to change anything. Seems as if your running the correct bios version. You should be able to boot directly off the disk with no flags needed. Report back.

Thanks JaE-V

I just loaded the defaults in BIOS. Booted to the DVD without flags, I get the same screen except:

Darwin/x86 boot v5.0.132

2039MB memory

VESA v3.0 7MB (Intel® 82945G Chipset Family Graphics Chip Accelerated VGA BIOS)

EBIOS read error: controller device error Block 1957216 sectors 64

EBIOS read error: controller device error Block 1957216 sectors 64

EBIOS read error: controller device error Block 1957216 sectors 64

EBIOS read error: controller device error Block 1957216 sectors 64

/

The freezes after those 4 lines. Every time it show.

But with -anything at Darwin prompt then those 4 lines don't show up.

Edit: Looks like my DVD didn't pass checksum, I'm downloading a new one and will report back.

If you got that error its your dvd! Download imgburn and use that to make your iso! Burn on slowest speed and google around to make sure that your md5 is correct on your image before you burn it, could be corrupted. I googled your error and it pulled up bad disk all over the place.

Thanks JaE-V

got it dual booting using a fresh "verified" 10.5.2 Kalyway DVD.

Now just gotta go find fixes for the Intel GMA video, sound, and my Dlink DWL-G520 Wifi card

SWEET, best of luck. from what i hear that gma950 kext from the kalyway dvd should work. Also if you install that graphics update with 10.5.3 that might fix your problem. And if you have 30 bucks to burn, go pick up one of the belkin adapters. FD wireless G series, they work with the railink drivers pretty well. They're gray with the rounded tip

Took awhile but got the DWL-G520 to work with instructions here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...0317&st=240

I used kext helper to install the kext rather than the sudo commands. Worked like a charm.

Installed Natit.kext in hopes of unlocking the resolution issue... no joy. But found the AppleIntegratedFrameBuffer.kext from someone else on the forum. Installed that and Voila the resolutions is unlocked...

I'm happy.

This is a great forum and excellent MB.

I've got a functional Mac for $80 (MB+CPU); $8 for 2x1GB Ram; Old 200GB seagate PATA HD cost ?$50?; LiteOn 24XDVDRW $25

total less than $170

Oops: forgot the $40 Case

Toal ~$210

Okay so what's the concensus? Did everyone upgrade from 10.5.2 to let's say 10.5.4?

yess

Yes 10.5.5 here.

With retail DVD install and Boot-132, I have not had any problem upgrading ANYTHING with this board.

from the full combo ~600mb or did you download the 300~mb one through the update utility?

Update utility.

the whole boot-132 thing confuses me, you should post a guide and get it stickied on the front page of this thread. i could definitely use it. apparently you'll be good using the update utility for the long run...very nice. You using onboard video or graphics card?
