rogermacnulty
Hi guys, I'm wanting to spec a machine thats purpose built to run leopard for 90% of the time and XP for the rest. I've been reading other people's parts lists and I've mixed & matched bits and pieces to come up with this spec, I just wanted to check that everything was compatible/ patchable to work with leopard. Please note: I already have 2x2Gb of Ram and a 7300GT graphics card. All items need to be sourced from UK based suppliers. WIFI: D-Link DWA-547 Range Booster Draft N PCI http://www.amazon.co.uk/D-Link-DWA-547-Boo...r/dp/B000FGXR0E ^^Are 802.11n spec cards supported fully? Would I be better off getting a 'b' spec? HDD: Western Digital WD5000AAKS 500GB SATA II 7200RPM 16MB Cache http://www.ebuyer.com/product/124228 CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131823 PSU: OCZ StealthXStream 600W PSU http://www.ebuyer.com/product/127861 MOBO: ASUS P5W DH Deluxe SKT 775 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/113951 Case: Antec Nine Hundred http://www.ebuyer.com/product/118268 I'd appreciate any feedback on this/ your recommendations based on experience. -RogerM P.S. What's the current state of blu-ray support (burning and reading) with leopard? rogermacnulty
No one? Ahh well, I'm pretty sure most of the parts work (they are stated to do so in the wiki). I guess what I was really wondering was if it was worth splashing out for a 'n' spec WIFI card and a blu-ray drive. I'm also going to go with the GA-P35-DS3P MoBo, it seems to have a better spec for the money. -RogerM Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/82561-hackintosh-spec-compatibility-check/#findComment-587818 Share on other sites

fjs
I have used "Buffalo WLI2-PCI-G54S-3 125* High Speed Mode Wireless Desktop PCI Adapter" as my wireless device, bought through an amazon.co.uk 3rd party. I am never sure about 802.11n under EU regulations. These are more restrictive than US ones - but that is true of the whole rest of the world. I stuck with 802.11g - Buffalo to Netgear or Buffalo to Buffalo wireless transfer is rock solid - better than Apple kit. Blu-ray is still too expensive IMHO, and not Apple-supported. I get best prices from www.microdirect.co.uk HTH Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/82561-hackintosh-spec-compatibility-check/#findComment-591247 Share on other sites
