pumbaster
pumbaster: just to check - can you confirm your device id's?Did you see anything about IOPCCard::start failed? (or similar) EqUaTe hi EqUaTe. yes im sure my devid is 6972, here is definition from o2micro.h { "O2Micro OZ6912/711E0", IS_O2MICRO|IS_CARDBUS, ID(O2, 6972) }, With Chuan-Nan's kexts i did not see IOPCCard::start failed - just kernel panic with mention of IOPCIFamily and IOPCCardFaimly... But i've do some investigations and think that a problem is with IOPCIFamily indeed, for example IOPCIFamily-34 from 10.4.3 says during boot - "cardbus memory allocation failed"... a2000rick
I get a panic when I try to use REV6. Any Ideas of what can be done? I get this error even if I replace them with the original ones. I could boot with -x with the REV6 drivers, but once I replaced the original ones back I can't even boot with -x always stops on /System/Library/CoreServices/ManagedClient,app.Contents/MacOS/ManagedClient[110]: ODUEthernetAddress(): GetEthernetAddress()==5 and in -s I can't do much because for some reason everything is read only. If you have replaced AppleACPIPlatform.kext before, you need to restore it to the original AppleACPIPlatform.kext file. Chun-Nan

Chun-Nan ======================================================== Hi guys, If you have downloaded the rev7 earlier, you can download it again because I forgot to turn off the debug information. I have uploaded the new one without the debug information. Thanks. Chun-Nan Looks like FireWire is recognized properly when some PCMCIA adapter is plugged-in. I've connected PCMCIA card and FireWire -> DVD/CD adapter, then booted into system - System Profiler shows both PCMCIA and some unknown FireWire Device (missing kext for FW adapter?). I'll try to check and post results with other IOFireWireFamily (from 10.4.x with device conencted and disconnected) and no debug version of rev7 when I'm done with my job. Good job Chun-Nan --------- EDIT ----------- Seems it does not work properly. I mean, I had to plug-in PCMCIA Adapater, then I could see unknown device under FireWire SystemProfiler'a tab If PCMCIA is not inserted I see "cannot list FireWire devices" in SystemProfiler. I've searched for Mac support for my DVD/CD -> FireWire | USB adapter (Prolific PL-3507C based ) and it should work using either USB or FW port. I've connected this DVD/CD adapter using USB port to see if its working and it got recognized properly, I could use DVD connected via USB port to my USB PCMCIA adapter (PCMCIA port is working). Is quite impossible to use any fw hdd with pcmcia (max speed of any plugged device is locked to 100 instead of 400/800), with internal firewire dv video capture doesn't work, remote yes. i can confirm all the IOPCCard16Device errors are related to smartcard reader, and i don't really care about it , hoping it will not interferire with pcmcia/firewire devices are also intel nic kernel panic related to iopcifamily(i've posted a pic in my previous message)? appleintel8254xethernet and smalltreeintelappleintel8254x(alternative driver) kext pops up bsd error with iopcifamily relationship
EqUaTe
Hey guys, Rev7 seems to be working pretty well here I've attached my system.log from a boot after installing it, for reference. Firewire doesn't /appear/ to work, but I can't be sure.. I'm not sure I have any actual firewire devices that are supported.. Cheers, EqUaTe system.log.txt
~Eureka
Hi snam11, "ALF ALERT" error message is new to me. I have never seen it before so I don't know what caused it yet. Can you give me the dmesg info without any PCMCIA devices plugged into the slot? Also, you should have two firewire information when you plug your firewire device into the pccard slot. I found one "FireWire (OHCI) VendorID 1217 ID f7 PCI now active, GUID 009fc0001a119e00; max speed s400." and where is another one? I found that you have two pccard device on your machine and that is interesting. Chun-Nan ============== Hi evilturtlefromhell, I am not sure what you meant. Does your pcmcia work or not? Does your firewire work or not? Thanks. Chun-Nan
evilturtlefromhell
Hey tested rev7 definitely faster. It starts out slow but then starts performing better a minute or two after boot. ~Eureka
Hi snam11, Did you put any device on both "standard and express" pccard? Is the smartcard reader built-in? Where/when did you get that kernel panic? with rev7 or other revision? Chun-Nan =============== Hi Mariusz, Can you show me the picture related to "SI could see unknown device under FireWire SystemProfiler'a tab"? Also, what device did you use to connect to your firewire connector on PCMCIA card? Chun-Nan
fingerr
Hi Mariusz, Can you show me the picture related to "SI could see unknown device under FireWire SystemProfiler'a tab"? Also, what device did you use to connect to your firewire connector on PCMCIA card? Chun-Nan Hi Chun-Nan, my device is DVD/CD IDE case adapter with FireWire and 2xUSB ports (I can use only one at the time). When I connect this to USB2 PCMCIA adapter (or built in USB) it works fine: PL-3507C USB Storage Device: Capacity: 6,62 GB Removable device: Yes Disconnectable: Yes BSD name: disk2 Version: 0.01 Bus power (mA): 500 Speed: up to 480 Mb/sec. Vendor: Prolific Name: PCWKDVD1007 Drivers Mac OS 9: No Partirion map type: Unknownn Product ID: 0x3507 Serial number: 012009FA S.M.A.R.T. status: Not supported Vendor ID: 0x067b but when I connect using FireWire port, SystemProfiler says: FireWire bus: Max speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec. Unknown device : Vendor: Unknown Model: Unknown Max speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec. Link speed : Unknown Values are translated from polish as i don't have engligh localization (i've removed it and now I cannot add this ) Regards, Mariusz. Hi Mariusz, What device did you plug into the firewire port? Brand name or information on that device? Do you have other devices using the firewire port to test?
