Is it possible to or has anyone ever succeeded in installing Leopard Retail DVD with EFI-V8? I know that Gigabyte P35 users have, and I have followed their instructions (installing Leopard within another Mac or Hackintosh onto a external Hard disk), without success.

Please let me know if anyone has done this before. I have no problem installing Brazil Mac patched DVD.

Well, if you have another Mac or a hackintosh, you can launch the retail DVD and run the installation to your target drive connected via USB (external case). I applied pc_efi_v80, activated the disk using fdisk -e..., etc, and managed to install a complete retail DVD. When I install the HD into my hackintosh, it will boot and get to the grey screen, but will not get past the Apple Logo.

I've also tried deleting AppleEFIRuntime.kext, replaced AppleSMBIOS.kext and dsmos.kext. But, no success so far. I feel so close, and am missing one little thing, but can't figure that out.

Gigabyte P-35 users are having a fantastic success with this method, so I am hoping this is possible for the Bad Axe 2 guys.

Hope someone can help me along the way.

I have an MSI 975x P mobo which is very similar to bad axe 2 and I have succesfully instaled Retail Leopard version modifying the min number of kexts I even got my GFX card fully working with out natit or nvinject or titan , following this guide...

I have the retail disk installed on my Bad Axe 2 systems and it works well with just adding dsmos and (for my video card) nvinject. What video card do you have and did you add in a gfx kext?

Thanks BJ and indraganzo for your tips. I will certainly give this another try.BJ, I am using XFX 7600GT. My haunch is that I need NVInject.kext for this card. Correct? The problem is when the computer wakes from sleep, screen goes crazy, and I have to reboot.Does your About This Mac show correct processor? One thing I did differently from yours was that I activated the HD with fdisk -e /dev/.... command, and installed just EFI_V8 instead of going back to 7.2-->8.0. I guess if it boots, it should be fine. Let me know what steps you took in installing Retail Leopard onto BadAxe2. I am thinking now of going with GA-P35 as it seems like a perfect board for leopard install.Let me know.indraganzo,Did you have to do the gfx-sting fix to get your video card to make sleep/awake work? I assume this fix is not just for GA-P35 boards. Will that fix work for BadAxe2?Thank you.Ted

Hi BJ

Could I install Leopard Retail DVD to another SATA HDD in my system instead of to an external USB HDD?

Thanks
