domino
Speaking of menus, here is another "must have". MainMenu, UB, Free: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/17111 MainMenu is an easy-to-use menubar item that allows you to run a large set of Mac OS X maintenance, cleaning and optimization tasks. MainMenu can repair permissions, update prebindings, clean system and users caches, empty many browsers caches/history, force empty the trash, clean logs, repair disks, and much more. Most tasks provide feedback in the log window during execution. The batch task function allows you to run many routines at once. Bug reports, feature requests, feedback (positive as well as negative) and anything else are welcome. MainMenu is currently free. GuTrBoY
I must agree that this thread lists almost all of the greatest, but I only see 1 backup option. CCC looks OK but I was wondering what other Backup options are being used? Any good suggestions? domino
I must agree that this thread lists almost all of the greatest, but I only see 1 backup option. CCC looks OK but I was wondering what other Backup options are being used? Any good suggestions? Sorry this list a bit outdated. New and approved applicartions have been released the past month or so. There are too many to list and most are found at either MacUpdate or VersionTracker. The apps I've tried and worked are: - SuperDuper!: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/13803 - YourBackup: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/20701 - Personal Backup X4 10.4.5: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/9765 I have not found a FREE & complete backup solution yet. sev7en
Capture Me from Chimoosoft - screen capture utility for Mac OS X Capture Me is a screen capture utility for Mac OS X which features a floating capture window and resize ability. To use the program, drag and resize the floating window to cover the area you want to capture. Then click in the window to capture the screenshot. You can resize it, copy it to the clipboard, and save it in a variety of formats and locations. Its behavior is customizable with respect to what happens after a capture. What advantage does Capture Me hold over the built in OS X screencapture facility? For some tasks, the answer is simple - there is none - the built in capture is elegant and easy to use. However, there are occasions when it's nice to be able to choose what file format your capture saves in, copy it to the clipboard without holding down four keys at once, or resize it on the fly. It's also common to want to take successive shots of the exact same position on the screen without moving the capture region at all, or make all your captures the same size. These tasks are trivial with Capture Me, but difficult at best with the built in utilities. Another possible use is as a floating capture pad - see the comments in the review section for an example of one user who does this. Silthrim
My favorite torrent program for OS X is XTorrent. It has the best UI I've seen and it is really fast. The best part is that it has a built-in torrent search that incorporates its own web browser. I really like it.
