scboy12
hey there - i've got a thinkpad t40 running 10.4.3 w/ JAS patch, and i'd like to try to get a kext working with it and its ati mobile radeon 9000 card. can't seem to find mention of it anywhere... the graphics right now are okay, but not great when i try to play video, 3d graphics, or anything else even slightly graphic intensive. will any of the current kexts work with this card, and is there any other way to increase video quality? cheers scott Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7961-ati-mobile-radeon-9000/ Share on other sites
Technobob
At the present time there is no working Ati drivers for our cards Lets hope some working drivers come out of 10.4.5 As for getting CI working it will never happen our cards don't have vector shader 2.0 support We will be able to use QE if a working drive is released Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7961-ati-mobile-radeon-9000/#findComment-49797 Share on other sites

scboy12
oh well - guess i'll get my order in for a macbook pro when i'm convinced there is enough software available in universal binary. i still think they released the thing a bit hastily - seems that a lot still isn't working, and intel/powerpc binaries don't interact particularly well. but it's fun to kick this around until i might decide to make the switch. supermegatron
Try getting the next radeon extensions. Then open up the kext to atiradeon8500 and replace the mac os folder with your current one. do that with all of them expect the one with gl on the end. Delete that one. Then make sure your cards id is in the plist. then edit the radeon8500ga kext you will see 1002530c in it replace the 530c with your cards id. you still arent going to have quartz or ci but the gui should be a bit more responsive.
