cackintosh33
Many thanks h4ck1nt0sh! The PowerOff Bug_fix.pkg didn't work but Installing CHUD tools did. Thanks for the link. PROCESS Install Chud pkg from the Retail dvd (Optional installs/XcodeTools/Packages) After installing this go to developer/Extras/PreferencePanes click Processor.prefPane .it will install processor icon on your System Preferances(seepic below) open that and check show control in menu bar. thats it you are done .once you click Single CPU than you shut down its 100% success. AirportExpress Problem All sound works on all of my mobos ports. My problem is with the LAN. I get internet but I am not able to access my AirportExpress through iTunes or Airport utility. Also, I cannot see other computers on my shared netowork but they can see me. I know that the there is nothing wrong with my AirportExpress because my MacBook can recognize and use it. A couple of times it would actually recognize the AirportExpress and I was able to stream audio through it but that would only last for about 10-15 min. Then it would just disapear. It would also comeback on when I switched out my patch cable, but again disapear after about 10-15min. Now I can't get it to work at all.

I think it was some patched kext. Now with retail installation it works fine. You might also check your bios settings. you can find screenshots from the correct settings for your mobo here. BTW. There were two versions of the poweroff_fix, the one that worked for me was the patch from the asian guy. but only after installing CHUD.
colorfuel
Hello, I always had an issue waking from S3 sleep with the EP35-DS4. Now, I found out, that setting "Init Display first" to PEG instead of PCI solved the issue. Maybe someone will need this piece of info.

My Bios settings are all the same as well. I just got a reply from Donar saying that he got the AirportExpress working when installing the time machine fix or some special R1000 kext. He is going to get back to me with confirmation after reinstall. What kext are you using for your LAN? That second version of the poweroff_fix works like a charm, thanks. http://cobranail.googlepages.com/poweroff_fix.zip
h4ck1nt0sh
What kext are you using for your LAN? No patched kext, instead I used efi studio to add the hex string for my nic. Doesn´t anybody have a clue regarding my PCI problem? (see post 898 in this thread) The worst thing is, I can´t use "internet sharing" on my Powerbook G4 running 10.4.x It just don´t work. So my hackintosh is offline at the moment
vintageawv
I have a EP35-DS4 and everything is working but the audio. When I select AZAL The selections grey out. Also I am using NVinject right now, my display is working fine, but would it work better using EFIStudio and selecting my exact card? If so, how do I unistall NVinject? Would I be better off starting over and using the guide on this post? Andy

I'd start over with the entire installation and use Chameleon EFI instead of PC_EFI (pre-patch.sh in sl8's pack) - using chameleon fixed my sound issues. DesertFox
Im experiencing kernel panics with my current setup. The first kernel panic occurs when i reboot after I've installed the EFI Studio stuff + CHUD.pkg + shutdown fix. And others occur randomly. Could it be that I'm overclocking? Anyone else experiencing something similar?

kpitstupidsimple
I've got the EP45-DQ6 and I was directed here. I've read this guide and the Retail DVD 'Perfect' guide. Both guides tell me I have to have a pre-existing hackintosh installation before I can install it. I've got an older computer (Pentium D on an intel 945P board) that I've installed iATKOS 10.5.4 on, ToH kernel. the darwin bootloader didn't install properly, but it will boot with the iATKOS dvd bootloader. If I drop the hard drive and dvd into my new PC, the bootloader doesn't try to boot off the hard drive. The two SATA chipsets are ICH10R and another Gigabyte chipset that many people seem to have a problem with. I have a SATA to USB adapter, and it won't boot from USB either. How exactly am I supposed to boot a functional OSX installation on the new computer? Or can I just do the chameleon-EFI and such installations from the old computer? [EDIT: I have the DQ6, not the DS4, my mistake.]

perimbean
Anyone install the 2008-005 security update? Any issues? Nope. I do not face problems updating my system with 2008-005 security update. I applied it on 7 workstations (5 x Q6600, 01 x P4 HT and 01 x CoreDuo) and all worked fine.
kpitstupidsimple
I've just used this install method on my EP45-DQ6, and it is not booting properly (I get the O with a \ through it). I'd like to boot it verbose to better troubleshoot it, but I'm not sure as to how to do this with an EFI bootloader. Can somebody point me in the right direction? EDIT: I'm an idiot. F8. I'm getting the "Still waiting for root device" error. Looking into that now.

jasoncheesemanuk
Took the brave step and ditched my Asus P5B deluxe motherboard and swapped her out for the Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS4 based on this group - thanks for making me take the plunge. I've nothing unusual, XFX 7600GT 256Mb, 4GB RAM, 4 x Samsung Spinpoints 250GB plus a LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-1635S which is an IDE device hooked up with a IDE-SATA convertor. Installed Kalyway 10.5.2 no problems and was just about to start working on your scripts and install when I thought I'd just burn a CD. Using Disk Utility it says writing and then ends with an error and then tried Toast Titanium and it sticks at 0%. The drive appears system profiler. Details below. Any ideas... Is it a dodgy convertor? Seems weird that I can read but not write? LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-1635S: Firmware Revision: YS0G Interconnect: ATAPI Burn Support: Yes (Generic Drive Support) Profile Path: None Cache: 0 KB Reads DVD: Yes CD-Write: -R, -RW DVD-Write: -R, -RW Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO Media: Insert media and refresh to show available burn speeds The device is an IDE device but I've hooked up a convertor at the back so it comes of a SATA connection on the board - bought it from Maplin in the UK. Colonel Kernal
I've convinced a friend who's upgrading from an older Mac to build a Hackintosh. He's already running 10.5 on his old Mac. Does he have to do a fresh retail install, or can he use something like Carbon Copy Cloner to copy his existing boot disk over after running the prepatch? The patch won't run on an old mac. he should transfer his old macs leopard system to a HD, and then you should apply the patches to that system. Then put the hd into his PC.
