karaakeha1
Sorry, there is no "fixed" kext for JMicron ATA. Use a SATA DVD burner instead, they're cheap !!!Yes there is and I am successfully using this with my 10.5.3 on JMicron ATA ( ATA DVD RW)check first posthttp://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=76404Thank you for your reply. But I cannot use JMicronATA because I have 4GB RAM, and AFAIK this kext will crash by system as it is 32 bit and can work with max 3GB of memory. In my previous Leopard install there was not JMicronATA kext, and my DVD burner was available, but there was another problem with it: it crashed the system from time to time, sometimes when I was trying to burn something, sometimes when I was reading smth from a disk, and even when I just inserted a media into the drive. But that was an old install of Leo, which was made in January. I think there should be fixed kexsts at the moment, or some alternatives, to avoid system crashes, but I dont know which ones exactly I need.check thishttp://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=76404
uniquad
Hi, guys. Can someone tell me why my Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz is not recognized by the system? I have a fresh install of Leopard 10.5.1 Retail updated to 10.5.3, with v10 of GA-P35-DS4 install pack. In the "About this mac" box my processor is shown as "2.4 GHz Unknown". Can this be fixed somehow?
TheIntrepidSpaceboySpiff
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but I have a working install of vanilla 10.5.2 - can I update to 10.5.3? I don't want to go through all the hassle of a reinstall... And I don't intend to use the combo install. So does the 10.5.2->10.5.3 update touch kexts not to be touched on my hackintosh? Hi, guys. Can someone tell me why my Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz is not recognized by the system? Can this be fixed somehow?Yea. Manually edit /System/Library/CoreServices/Resources/English.lproj/AppleSystemInfo.strings I think... Edit: Nope, that wasn't it. But you can tell OS X what to display there, I did it, just can't remember where exactly

uniquad
Manually edit /System/Library/CoreServices/Resources/English.lproj/AppleSystemInfo.strings I think... Edit: Nope, that wasn't it. But you can tell OS X what to display there, I did it, just can't remember where exactly Shouldn't it be detected by the system automatically? On my previous (not EFI) Leo installation there was correct value just out of the box. And in the system profiler there also was a string enumerating CPU features (like SSE, SSE2, SSE3, MMX etc.). And now there is not.
MowgliBook
For Q6600 to be recognized, use this package (from Leo4All)
Professor
For Q6600 to be recognized, use this package (from Leo4All) Well. Works almost, but doesn't show the GHz correctly. If I start System Profiler, it says the GHz correctly.
MowgliBook
Frequency is recognized by AppleSMBIOS, download Mac.Nub's, it works perfectly and can be set-up by user (for RAM frequency for instance) If you modified manually the plist files in CoreServices, you have to undo the change before installing the package. uniquad
For Q6600 to be recognized, use this package (from Leo4All) Thanks, this seems to work for me, but I still cannot see processor features string in the system profiler. uniquad
Check out my signature where is yours? Well, I've just tried those kexts from that topic you provided, and they crashed my system as soon as I inserted a DVD into the drive. Just before this I checked out my memory usage statistics, and there were more than 3.8 GB of memory used. So, as reported, those kexts DO NOT work with 64-bit Mac OS X (i.e. with more than 3.2GB RAM). The only fact that JMicronATA.kext provided in the archive I've downloaded has the last modification date of Aug 22, 2007, says that it is not an UPDATED kext, it is the old one, available in many hackintosh install packages. Thank you nevertheless, you gave me a hope
karaakeha1
some alternatives, to avoid system crashes, but I dont know which ones exactly I need. First of all mention your system specs or add sign There is no Issue Using SATA Optical Drive(Attached to Jmicron Port) or ATA Optical Drive Provided in the BIOS is Set to AHCI mode in both options in the Gigabyte board ,I don't know what board you are using I tested when memory out of 4 GB only 10 MB left no crashes Or may be I failed to understand what you mean
uniquad
I have Gigabyte P35-DS4 Rev 1.2 board, BIOS F11, 4GB RAM, Leo 10.5.3, EFI v8, vanilla kernel, Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, and yes, both options in my BIOS setup are set to AHCI. Which one of them should I change to get this working? And thank you one more time And I have another one question, although probably this is not the best place to ask it, I'll still ask. I have Epson Stylus Photo R270 printer (USB), and right after the system installation it worked well. But some time later something happened, and it stopped working. Printing jobs appears in the queue, and everything seems to go like it must to go: job appears in the queue, holds for 1-2 seconds "in progress", and then disappears from the queue, except the document is not really being printed. The job is then marked as "finished" and no error messages in log files or wherever else. So computer thinks that the document has been successfully printed, while it's not. Any maintenance through the EpsonPrinterUtility.app works well (head cleaning, nossle check pattern printing etc.). I tried to use different drivers, deinstalling (automatically and by removing files by hands) them and installing again, tried to reset cups printing system - nothing happens. Only once I did something and after just another reboot the printer began to work, but then I tried to reboot again to check if this is permanent - and ooops, after reboot it was not working again. uniquad
update: version 11, JMicronATA fixed for 4GB RAM Is it truth? Does this really work? Did you test it with a device connected to IDE/ATA (not SATA) port? Or this fix is only concerned to JMicron SATA ports?

Well, I've already tested those kexts with my IDE (ATA) LG DVDRW, and they DO NOT work (system crashes). Although, karaakeha1 states, they DO work with his SATA drive, connected to JMicron SATA port. uniquad
I have ATA Drive too <Tested and works fine> Hmmm... Very strange... So maybe my particular drive causes the problem. Although it worked when there was only 2GB of RAM in my system. Dunno...
xenos^2
Glad I found this post, I am making a hackintosh with... Vista x64 4GB RAM Core 2 Duo E6750 3x Samsung HD322HJ SATA RAID 0 (AHCI) (Got ~740gig main ntfs, ~120gig FAT32 for mac, active rdy) DAEMON Tools Lite IDE DVD RW (Tried IDE mode first, AHCI seems to get me further when trying in DOS) ATI HD3870 GA-P35-DS4 rev 2.0 Kalyway_10.5.2_DVD_Intel_Amd I havent done this before, been playing with VMware Workstation 6 beta and got stuck with DVD settings and my RAID 0 array doesnt seem to be helping. Assume I need some of this stuff. The problem is I have NO IDEA what to do with it, havent done this kind of thing before with Mac, I have only PC experience... I would like to end up with a dualboot, but even getting it working in VMware would be great!! Current progress... It gets stuck.... A few pointers would be really helpful! Thanks a ton!
