My BIOS is the F11, and I've tested with default settings. My External HD seems very fast, but my two pendrives are slow, like they are usb 1.0, but they aren't, and when I plug it in to my portatil, they're really fast!

Thanks a lot for your time!,

PD: do you know if leopard support the RAID of the p35-ds4?, or any pci card that my mac can recognize it? thanks!!!

I needed to reinstall my Leopard and found that there is a bug in your pre-patch.sh

sudo diskutil umount /dev/${PART}

needs to be

sudo diskutil unmount /dev/${PART}

(umount needs to be unmount)

and one more

sudo cp -r kext/ALCInject.kext /Volumes/$DESTINATION/System/Library/Extensions/

needs to be

sudo cp -r kext/ALCinject.kext /Volumes/$DESTINATION/System/Library/Extensions/

(ALCinject.kext - upper vs. lower case "i")

cheers,

jibe

No. Both versions are supported, you can use umount or unmount. See man diskutil

Thanks. I will fix it in next version.

You are right - I did the first steps from a Mac running Tiger - and there "umount" is wrong and only "unmount" works. My bad.

Anyway, thanks again for your scripts! I had to re-install my hackintosh today and it went like a charm. And now i should have created a proper backup strategy that should allow a quicker rebuild next time :)

And now a silly question which I am pretty sure has been asked (and answered) at least a zillion times already: what do I need to change so that it shows the proper processor in "about this mac" and the desired info in system profiler?

cheers,

jibe

There are several different versions of AppleSMBIOS.kext - find the one that works for you. I recommend the latest version from netkas, you you can try different versions from mac.nub.

Hey :-)

With Ls8's patch i have a problem. I can't get USB-Disks to mount live, FireWire stucks too, those drives get mounted only after restart, but not during the system is running.

Is there a fix for this?

Thanks for an answer

Update: It seems that the modified kernel of Netkas, which brings shut down, brakes USB mounting. See this Post http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...=95789&st=0

I installed a fresh system with minimal patching, even without this kexts, which are responsible for correct HD icons. Now iPod, Stick etc. mount correctly running the system. Firewire mounts now too correctly. running in terminal the command to check which USB kexts are loaded shows lots more USB kexts loaded than with full Ls8 v7 patch applied.

I have yellow hard drive icons now and have to push the powerbutton, but at least USB is working 98% correctly.

OK, anyone else has this problem? Please let me know.

I got all the parts ready to go and started the pre-patch and was getting Error :35

Im not sure I set the destionation and disk info in the right spots. Could you give an example script with the info inserted for me to take a look at. Or direct me to one. I've spent a long time looking and cant find any examples

Thanks, im very excited to get this rig rocking

I am still having major problems with the cd/dvd sata drive, if i leave a disk in without accessing it for some time the drive drops off the buss and is no longer accessible.

The main problem is once this has happened access to any service that uses disks and searches them crashes (eg spotlight and disk util)

Anyone else have this problem?

Regards firewire mine works fine

For some reason when I had my Asus P5K SE motherboard, Temperature Monitor worked fine, but after moving to the GA-P35-DS4 Rev2.1 (F12 bios), Temperature Monitor is only showing the hard drive temperatures.

I tried removing the "extended x86 support" driver and reinstalling it but I still don't have CPU temperatures

One other thing is I switched to Q9300 from a Q6600 too, not sure if that affects things.

I recommend F8 BIOS, especially for overclocking.

That's what I'm still on. Any later and the CPU fan control doesn't work, just goes balls out the whole time. Though I have to confess, I haven't tried F12 yet.

Thanks again ls8 for your scripts and helpful advice (and everyone else!). I've had to reinstall everything on my hack as the old Hitachi 'Deathstar' HD I was using (with an IDE to SATA adapter) went {censored} up. Serves me right for using a drive well past it's use by date! Now installed on a shiny fresh Western Digital WD5000AAKS. Disk access is much swifter now.

I'm on F11 too, and my fans are also quite loud. I bought an Enermax Liberty PSU because a major source of noise was the old ATX supply, but the system is still loud overall (front and rear fans are going about 1500rpm). I think I'll go back to the F8 and see if it changes anything.

I just bought the same drive, and I was also running my system off an ATA drive with SATA adapter (though not quite an old drive as yours :-)) and you are right, things are quicker and smoother overall.

Ginjaian, I see from your sig you have the 8800GTS (G80), what do you think of this card overall for hackintosh, and which drivers did you install for it to get it working? (I have got one coming to me, and I'm wondering whether to use that or a Radeon 1950XTX that I can also get my hands on).

The reason I ugpraded to F12 is because Temperature Monitor didn't work in F8 :( - Doesn't seem to work in F12 either.

I am getting a stable overclock at 3.2ghz per core on F12 on air and more than happy with the results :)

to get the 8600gt to work as EFI do i just copy paste ls8's packaged efi boot list for the 8600gt into the appropriate location?

Edit: when i did that it didnt work so i must be doing something wrong

Its running fine now with audio and lan but i cant seem to get the grafix going.

Or should i just install the nvinject 256 kext?

Help please, pretty please

Ps. the gfx efi in my sig is just a wish for now

I used ls8 v7 installer pre and post patches, so along with pc efi v8, NVinject has been installed. I haven't bothered about getting an efi string for it instead of using NVinject, I don't know if it makes any functional difference, it's just for the purists who want to run as few additional kexts as possible, I suppose. The reason I got this card was because it was reported here as being one of the best high end cards to be supported by OS X. I know they're a year or so old now, but it still works brilliantly on the Windows XP side as well. It can run Crysis on my 1920 x 1200 monitor without it being like a slideshow, though I do turn off anti aliasing.

My Xbench results are:

Quartz Graphics Test 269.76

Line 212.28 14.13 Klines/sec [50% alpha]

Rectangle 286.90 85.65 Krects/sec [50% alpha]

Circle 230.67 18.80 Kcircles/sec [50% alpha]

Bezier 222.79 5.62 Kbeziers/sec [50% alpha]

Text 659.91 41.28 Kchars/sec

OpenGL Graphics Test 192.93

Spinning Squares 192.93 244.74 frames/sec

User Interface Test 448.67

Elements 448.67 2.06 Krefresh/sec

Hardly scientific, but at least it whoops a G5! (A G5 is the base/100% setting for Xbench, the first figure in each line is by how far my 8800 outperforms a 6800 Ultra). Not sure how this rates against a 1950XTX, I would imagine about the same? FYI it's an Albatron 8800GTS 640MB. I haven't needed to mess around with DeviceID etc, it worked out of the box.

Any body think the open mac thing is going to cause us problems?

Apple could well bring their DRM chips installed in all intel macs into play. Any thoughts?

Might I respectfully suggest that this thread is specifically for installing Leopard on a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4 motherboard and that this topic is covered plentifully in other threads.

Hi! Something went wrong on my 10.5.2 update. Unfortunately I dont have a spare Intel Mac, just my hackintosh and a powerbook. And no Superdrive :)

So to get my Hackintosh to boot from something I dl kalyway 10.5.2 and tried to install it onto my usb pen:

dd if=Downloads/Kalyway_10.5.2_DVD_Intel_Amd/Kalyway_10.5.2_DVD_Intel_Amd.iso of=/dev/disk4
7670632+0 records in
7670632+0 records out
3927363584 bytes transferred in 3164.407115 secs (1241106 bytes/sec)

The USB pen then shows up like a mounted kaly iso, so far, so good - but my PC refuses to boot from it. I tried everything, USB-(HDD,FDD,ZIP,CDROM), nothing works.

Any ideas what I did wrong?

First you should not use the USB 1.0 ports. Use the USB 2.0 Ports.

Supposed that the stick is USB 2.0, you might use in the BIOS the settings for Hard Drive Priority, if your stick shows up there as a "hard disk", it should boot from it.

That happened to me with a USB 2.0 external, and it worked for it, maybe it works for you.
