slowass
Im so new to all this Mac OS so go easy on me. Both Onboard and Addon NIC works in Windows. I got a funtional Kalyway Leopard 10.5.1 install. Everything except the LAN No response from either onboard gigabyte X38-DQ6) nor Realtek 8139 NIC. I installed Leopard before I added the Realtek 8139 but shouldnt Leopard find it like Plugnplay? Ive tried my best to find a solution using both this board and the web but without any success. Is there a "Hardware manager" in Leopard to see if LAN is found? Everyone says Realket 8139 is working without any interaction, whats the first thing to look at in Leopard? Ive tried to download the RealtekR1000_1.04.zip but i cant start the .kext-file in Leopard, how does one install it? Thanks in advance
LS8
...after overnight sleep - Built in LAN forgot it's IP address...Known issue. Use manual IP configuration instead of DHCP....Both Onboard and Addon NIC works in Windows...No response from either onboard gigabyte X38-DQ6) nor Realtek 8139 NIC. I installed Leopard before I added the Realtek 8139 but shouldnt Leopard find it like Plugnplay?...Known issue. You need to enable "Wake on LAN" in Windows. Search the forum, it's been duscussed before.

nathandw
Hi all, after a long time of suffering from random kernel panics. I already tried everything I could find to improve stability. System is not overclocked, but still provided with some extra voltage. All the CPU-features disabled. I finally wanted to know where these come from, so I put the 'debug=0x100' in my boot.plist. At the same time i deleted the JMicronATA.kext due to what I read in here. Obviously 'debug=0x100' doesn't work. I haven't had a single panic since that, running everything i could, to make the system unstable: two VMWare-Machines simultaneously, Photoshop and on top of that GeekBenech and XBench. Nothing... I guess with (over) 4 gigs of RAM it's just obligatory to delete the kext. Or limit the RAM-size. So thanks again, you really helped me alot. olmirror
For the love of god, please, could someone give me a hand here: I've spend the last 72 or so hours trying to get the sound to run. I've tried every patch and kext posted across this forum and am still confronted with silence. The motherboard is the P35-DS4, rev 2.1, updated to 10.5.2, installed all the different HDA patched, ALCinjext, AppleAzaliaAudio and still no luck. What am I missing, Azalia is enabled in the bios, what am I not installing? Do I need to add the device id somewhere, which one would that be?... Any suggestions? Everything else seems to be running fine... You'd be giving me back my sleep. Thanks

Thanks Well, if you installed the ls8 patch (this thread post 1) on your board (I have the same), it should work right out of the box - IF you put the jack into the right socket. For me its the green one. (I did the same mistake until i tried to put the jack into the right socket). And then choose under Sound "Internal Speakers". Hope this helps, maybe you have to try different sockets. Professor.
olmirror
Thanks professor, instead of applying the entire patch, I replaced the kexts manually, should have the same effect. The plug is in the green jack, since I've got sound in XP, it's working. When you refer to internal speakers, I assume that's under the sound settings, only problem is that there are no devices found. In other words, something is not installing correctly. Do you have AppleAzaliaAudio.kext installed? And apart from ALCinject and AppleHDA from the patch, you've done nothing else to get it up and running? Robbeke
@Karol I had the same issue with my DS4 board, even with Windows Vista. I downgraded from BIOS F11 to F8 and now it works, even overclocked standby works. Maybe you can try this one? I don't know if it has impact on OS X stability on this board. I just downloaded a retail Leo DVD so I'm planning to give it another shot very soon.

olmirror
Anybody besides the professor with any ideas regarding my absent sound. I looked at the systemlog file and it seems ALCinject is loading up fine. So why are the devices not found, what other kext dependencies are there beside AppleHDA? I looked at the systemlog file and it seems ALCinject is loading up fine. So why are the devices not found, what other kext dependencies are there beside AppleHDA? Ok, as i said, with the patch of ls8 it works right out of the box (original DVD install and his kexts), nothing more to install. Or course, after doing the 10.5.2 update you have to apply the patches again. If you did the kalyway 10.5.1 install, you have a problem, because appleHDA blabla doesn't know your sound on board. I included a file i did for the gigabyte board with Linux, because i didn't find the necessary linux codec dump for the board. Its ALC885. Apply the codec_dum.txt attached with AppleHDAPatcher 1.18. Hope this helps (if you not already messed your whole installation up by copying 2394029402930 kexts into the system), Cheers, Professor codec_dump.txt
olmirror
Pretty much hit your analisys on the spot and believe that this could be the solution I'm looking for. Now help me one last time since I'm new to this HDA patcher. I copied your dump into a text file and saved it as codec_dump.txt. Next I dragged it into the patcher and this is what appears: AppleHDA Patcher - 2006/2007 by Taruga v1.18 _______________________________________________________ Codec : \f0\fs24 \cf0 Realtek ALC885\ Vendor Id : 0x10ec0885\ Subsystem Id : 0x1458a002\ _______________________________________________________ * Detected unsupported \f0\fs24 Codec Do I need to patch the vanilla AppleHDA.kext or the modified one from this post? Thanx.

Robbeke
Really interested on your experiences, can u n fill your ds4 version please?I got a 1.1 Rev. I also have a Revision 1.1. I've got some troubles with my Leopard install. I installed Vanilla just fine using the retail disk, system booted nicely. Then I installed the 10.5.2 update as described in first post, but something went wrong there: I think I used a wrong ACPIPlatform.kext or so because the system kernel panics all the time. Now I want to boot from CD, but the CD detects my install and boots from harddisk. Pushing F8 doesn't work... Any ideas how I can force boot from CD? The "Profile" on my machine is fine, it shows what I wanted it to show...only the "About This Mac" that I want to reflect correct info...I know that you can manually input what you want to be displayed.... maybe it is the BIOS of the board, I used the same kext and profiler for my other machine (ASUS) and the "About This Mac" displayed correct information... Robbeke
@Favle: I did that, then selected CDrom but then the bootable disk detects the Leo install and starts booting from it, without giving the chance to press F8. I connected the Harddrive to another SATA port and now it's working... very very strange one small update from my part: 10.5.2 up and running using the official Leopard Retail installation disk. Something went wrong with restoring the correct kext after the 10.5.2 upgrade, but I was able to boot from DVD and restore the correct kexts. EFI String seems not working with me, I edited the com.boot.apple.plist file and added the string which is in the DS4 package 5, but audio & video doesn't work? I have an ALC889A sound chip and NVidia 8600 GT. The original NVidia kexts from 10.5.2 were present. Now I'm using the NVidia installer from this page: http://scottdangel.com/blog/?p=21 . Am I correct that using the EFI strings nothing should be changed? (NVinject.kext should be removed but the original apple kexts should be used). This would mean that my EFI string is not working? Please some advice Working: Reboot Semi-working: Sleep (pc only wakes up when pressing power button) and Shutdown (OS shuts down but pc isn't turned off). I already tried selecting the startup disk. Any suggestions to get this working? LS8 how did you do the trick? edit: I did not install all kexts. Definitly did not use the Jmicron (have 4 GB RAM) and did not include (yet) the ALCInject. I didn't use your NVInject.kext. I also did not replace the AHCI kexts. Could this be the reason why shutdown isn't working? (DS4 rev1.1)

Now I'm running NVInject, so I should try generating the EFI string, erase the NVInject kext, restore the vanilla 10.5.2 NVidia kexts and it should work?
