MeDevil, great work! With you kext my DVD-Writer (Samsung SH-S183A) is working finally. Incredible. I already thought this wouldn't happen. I had some minor stability problems too which might be caused by the ATA driver. We'll see if they are gone too. Would be crazy if it fully works now.

THANKS a lot!

Edit:

The other problem is still here: In random time steps my mousespeed goes very fast and after a few seconds the mouse just jumps arround in very slow steps so i cant click anything anymore. Only solution is sending the Hackintosh to sleep and wake it up again. If i dont do that, it crashes. Does anybody know what could help?

I'm having the same problem with the mouse pointer, also it seems when playing audio it will stutter when this mouse things occurs...

I'm experiencing the same lock-ups as you describe (heavy disk usage, no messages to system.log after freeze) but I'm not sure if it's a issue of this extension or something else..

;)

i get the same problem as gtaranti, was this problem addressed? im sure the problem is with this kext because ive tried replace everythinge else, im now on my sata->pata converter and im having no problems, just slower write and read speeds

Hello MeDevil,

I have been following this osx86 thing for quite a while, and am in the habbit of converting Dells and Custom intel's and AMD's. Got One here for the Amd Post that I haven't had fun clearing up.

Symtoms:

install disk takes 10 minutes to start if SATA is enabled in the bios. Disk utility has a fit for partitioning, but is able to see the devices. Total, I think to get to the disk utility is about 20-25 minutes.

If it is disabled, I can boot off of a ATA CD, and get there without any devices, which seems to put along at normal speed. I notice that I can't master/slave on PATA to maybe get it on a IDE interface. so, I set to look at your progress. I have tried many different variables (usb drive install, patching many dvd's - now in circular cabinet, )

So just for giggles, I throught I would throw this up here, and see if anyone actually got this mobo to work 100% because I have seen way to many models close to it work so well.

questions:

NVIDIA nForce4 SLI - is this nforce chipset working on this motherboard? :

If so, is there a kext that I can drop using "kext helper"

If so, which sucess story can you guys point out to me to complete this.

if not, i noted on another insanely mac post that there are SATA pci-e and sli sata cards that can work right out of the box. any suggestions?

Is the work in this blog is including this board SATA and IDE with no problems?

if any of these are answerable, ( hopefully) I can actually spend some time making it work. If not, Damn. Linux or windows this box and get it out off of my desk!

all HCL lists aren't listing this motherboard and biostar aren't even seen out on blogs much (AMD specifically), and there isn't schmidt for search results on anything other than the NFORCE Sata issue. Google, here, and 5 other sites don't have squat.

Brand document.write(neg_specification_newline('BIOSTAR')); BIOSTAR Model document.write(neg_specification_newline('TForce4SLI')); TForce4SLI Supported CPU CPU Socket Type document.write(neg_specification_newline('939')); 939 CPU Type document.write(neg_specification_newline('Athlon 64 X2 / Athlon 64 FX / Athlon 64')); Athlon 64 X2 / Athlon 64 FX / Athlon 64 FSB document.write(neg_specification_newline('1000MHz Hyper Transport (2000 MT/s)')); 1000MHz Hyper Transport (2000 MT/s) Chipsets North Bridge document.write(neg_specification_newline('NVIDIA nForce4 SLI')); NVIDIA nForce4 SLIExpansion Slots PCI Express x16 document.write(neg_specification_newline('2')); 2 PCI Express x1 document.write(neg_specification_newline('2')); 2 PCI Slots document.write(neg_specification_newline('3')); 3 Storage Devices PATA document.write(neg_specification_newline('2 x ATA100 4 Dev. what is the controller? a MCPxx? different? (correct me please)

I have a pretty good selection of iso's to choose from for suggestions. And thanks ahead for any input guys! keep up the kickass patchin'

will this work on my nforce 560 chipset? I believe the device id is 0x056010de, but I'm not sure, that's just the id of another persons nforce 560 chipset. Do you think that this driver would work, or is there anything I could do to make it work?

First of all, Thanks MeDevil for all your hard work!!

I've got AppleNForceATA.TEST.kext working, but I have 2 BIG problems:

1) Under heavy disk usage, the system will freeze. (My Leo install is on a PATA drive, media drive is eSATA)

2) The burner (SATA internal) always crashed when I try to burn. I've gotten a variety of errors using different configs. Currently, it immediately crashes with a "Interface is not stable" error twice, then another error about power reset or something.

Before switching to the TEST kext, the DVD drive would not mount any inserted discs. Now it reads fine.

Any help?

1) Try repairing permissions on the kext

2) The dvd support is in alpha i think, im sure MeDevil is working on this :)

Be happy to read dvd's now :thumbsup_anim:

it doesn't work on my ABIT KN9S(nforce550) +SATA harddisk

said " button driver prevents system sleep"

I PUT the "AppleNForceATA.kext" under /System/Library/Extensions in my windows xp by MACDRIVE

thanx

you can't do it like that,

you need to repair permission of the kext.

search in forum.

I have a strange question about how the drives are detected, and given /dev/diskx identifiers.

I have 2 x SATA II and 1 IDE hard drive. Some times I see

SATA > SATA > IDE

SATA > IDE > SATA

IDE > SATA > SATA

3 different orders the drives get detected in. Currently, I have a USB jump drive with all the boot files to boot 10.5.2. I use to boot a Software raid (the 2xSATAs in RAID 0). (Described Here)

I was wondering if it's possible to force SATA's to load before the IDEs? The boot.plist on the jump drive has "rd=disk2" which, most of the time is the identifier given to the raid, however if the IDE drive gets loaded in the middle, or at the beginning it becomes disk3.
