Kalyway / iAkTOS1.0i R2 with bootfix / ToH DVD's won't boot!

I am trying to install Leopard but I can't get the installation DVD to boot. I am one of the suckers with an ICH8R/Jmicron boards (MSI P965 Platinum). Since the internal DVD does not work I connected an USB DVD which is capable of booting a bootable DVD (checked this with XP install disk) but none of the distro's mentioned above seems to boot.

The funny thing is if I plugin the DVD into my laptop it boot's normally

Is there an solution to this issue?

Really like the work.

Downloaded the zip-file but couldn't extract it ... now I've read I have to open it with winRAR hehe :)

What's the difference between the 3.4gb zip-file and the 4.4gb iso file ?

Ennieweej, will let you know the result, but I'd like to say you're the best ;)

add: cpus=1

well i tried : -v -f -x -legacy cpus=1

still i get the reboot on the dvd when it loads system.kext files , those are one of the last kext before the reboot occurs (on the dvd boot to installer)

it could be that this board cannot run it, wich would be to bad :P cuz i have osx running on every pc here in the house now :P (5 pcs) Server remains linux tho :)

Also this pc bios does not have options for XD or anything.

I have shutdown issues with a laptop and desktop computer. You have to depress the power button for about five seconds to fully power the laptop down. I believe this was not an uncommon problem. Did anyone find a solution?

I have the same problem with my desktop, everything works great but the shutdown, anyone have a solution for this?

Hi everyone,

I just got a little question: which kexts Kalyway installs are modified (no stock kexts)?

Everything works great here. Sleep, reboot, networking, sound. Today I changed my graphics from NVInject to gfx-strings, animations now are smoother.

Now I'm going to change back to original kexts.

Only sometimes my system is a little unstable, running VMWare or MS Office, I wonder why's that. Anybody know? Though I can deal with that.

Have a nice day

Nathan

Hello i'm newbie

My hdd has 2 partition.First one is Recovery partition (it must not erase) and windows vista.Created one more partition on windows vista for leopard Fat32 format. Then, I boot the dvd and open utility. My hdd seems okay, 1. partition for recovery,2. partition vista and third partition for mac.I formatted Fat32 to HFS only third part.My question is I can't set the mbr format. How can I mbr format with untouching first and second partition. When I clicked mac part, it says "this volume will not be erased" and options never shown. Is there any way to mbr format only third part?

Thank you

someone help me plz...i am dieing to install leopard on my dell 9150 intel Pentium d cpu..

i have tried four times and every time i am getting the same error...it says sumthing "unknown error that failed the install" this appears right at the end when the installation is just going to finish.

this is what i did....formatted my drive to Mac OS Extended then partition to one drive with guid option.

then i continued and select the customize option...then i select vanilla kernel, vanilla acpi fix and boot efi guid then press install...

the installation begins...then when it was nearly going to finish (at around98%) the error screen appeared...saying it encountered a problem...

i tried rebooting the pc all i was seeing was a blinking cursor....

btw i burned my dvd at 4x...

sorry for my poor English....and thanks in advance

First let me say that I tried 3 other comp's to try and get a hackintosh up and running.

My system specs are:

Asus P5K-VM (onboard video for installation)

Intel QX6800 quad

2 Gigs Crucial Ballistix

1 SATA 300 GB drive

Antec Veris (Media Center style chassis) w/500W PSU

LG DVD -RW (IDE)

I could not get iATKOS to work at all for me, it would install but black screen blinky on restart.

I could not get JAS 10.4.8 (Tiger) installed at all because it did not like the IDE DVD drive I suspect.

Finally got my hands on Kalyway's comp and withing 15 minutes I was looking at the keyboard setup screen!

Fantastic effort Kaly, many thanks!

Audio worked, Network works, everything works perfectly except shutdown like some of the other members have pointed out, I have to hold down my power button to get a complete shutdown.

I also installed an older Asus EAX1800-XL GPU and it works perfectly until we get 8800 GT help hopefully with the 10.5.2 update?

Anyway, thats my story so far, I am stoked and look forward to many test over the next few days.

I would like to get a stable dual boot set up with XP among other things.

Thanks again everyone who made this happen.

<EDIT>

I just noticed something really strange however, in my finder window I am seeing a lot of files which should be hidden files and nothing is organized the way it nmormally would be in X, for example in my home directory I see files like:

.CFUserTextEncoding

.DS_Store

and folders called:

.fontconfig

.Trash

Also on the desktop, these 2 files mysteriously appeared:

.localized

.DS_Store

This is really strange and not normal, anyone seen this yet?

:D

there is a patch for the 8800GT I downloaded it the other day here is the file name totally automatic install

10.5.2_NVkexts+.pkg

It's OK... we all have to start somewhere..

umm

actually the answer is NO. I was hoping for a 8800GT G92 kext soon (also applies to GTS) but that won't happen. The best thing to do, is to wait 2 months until Apple releases 10.5.2 (with native support of 8800 G92)

I have a few problems that I've spent endless nights trying to solve. First of all, I'd like to thank kaly for the release; this one is the best release I've used...Greatly appreciated.

Before I post my problems, I'll put up my system specs.

Dell Inspiron 640m Laptop

CPU: Intel Core Duo T2350 @ 1.86
Chipset: Intel 945GM rev. 03
RAM: 2048 MB
Graphics: Intel GMA 950

Ok, with that all aside, I having problems with my sleep functions. When ever the laptop goes to sleep, I cant seem to bring it back out and I would have to power off and then power back on.

Also, I can't seem to get both cores to work. This is what happens: When I have both cores on, it would boot, then restart over and over again. I've heard of the endless reboot loop but after rebooting a few times, it goes into the desktop. Then I start to run some applications and I realized that the computer is running a bit sluggish, YouTube videos are laggy, sound is choppy, special graphics (Such as the genie effect on the dock.) freaks out. So I decided maybe if i turned one of the cores off from BIOS maybe the system would work a little better...and it did.

My question is, how do I get both of these things to work?

Help is much appreciated.

Hi to everybody!

I've successfully installed Kalyway 10.5.1 on my VAIO FE28H (centrino duo T2300 - 1GB ddr2 - sata 160gb - nvidia 7400go - sigmatel hi-def)

immagine1fi7.th.png

The first time I tried:

- Vanilla (both)

- NVJect for Laptop

- Azalia

- Efi_MBR

After installation it boot without problems, but it showed a blank screen, no mouse or other. (I tried with -x on boot, but blank screen still showed)

So I've reinstalled Leopard, booting from the DVD with -vanilla options.

This time I tried:

- Vanilla (both)

- Efi_MBR

It finished, reboot and finally I see the Leopard first boot presentation. I've used it, tried to reboot and works very fine, no errors.

Anyway I have some problems:

- "International" on control panel crashes everytime I want to open it, so I can't change system language and time-date format;

- Video resolution is still 1024x768 and after I've installed NVJect for laptop, I get a blank screen on boot, again. So I have to start everytime with -x options

- The most important problem, I don't know how to set dual boot with Vista. I've tried all tips founded on this forum and on google, but no one works.

Anyone can help me about these problems? Thanks

PS: the handicap of this forum is that every thread has TOO MUCH replies to read.

PPS: excuse my bad english, I'm Italian.

With that system you should be able to run the vanilla kernel and EFI. If you boot it with a -v what does it say when it stops responding?

Hi :)

I've installed the kalyway dvd and I can't get leopard to boot. I'm stuck on the grey apple logo. I've tried to boot with multiple different parameters (-x, -legacy, ...) but I'm always stuck at the same point (see screenshot attached).

I can't find real errors in those lines, only some dependencies problems and a WARNING message at the end.

Rig:

Laptop Asus A6Je

Core2Duo T5600

1GB DDR2

ATI X1450 (ouch :P )

Leopard installed on an external USB hard disk

Install: kernel vanilla and efi mbr (I've tried not to install the included drivers, the natit in particular, but always the same problem)

Thanks for your help. :P

Please anyone knows ? I'm really out of ideas on this one... :censored2:

Hi, I am confused how to get this working. After I downloaded the zip file, I extracted its contents into a folder, and there are 2 folders here. One is named _MACOSX and the other is called KALY_LEO_10.5.1intel_SSE2_SSE3.

What do I do to make this a bootable DVD? It took three days to get this, I really want it to work.

Please Help.......thanks.

Burn the .iso file in the "KALY_LEO_10.5.1intel_SSE2_SSE3" folder. Ignore the _MACOSX folder, it shouldn't even be there (it's invisible on Macs).

MSI P35 Neo2-FR Update

Well after fighting with the install for several days I was only able to get the basic install with no drivers to load. If i customized the install and selected anything other than the correct efi option the setup would fail. It would be random on what file to extract when it failed so it was nothing related to that.

Loading just the basic install however still wouldn't boot for me. I had to boot from the cd.

Sadly i gave up on my Neo2-FR ... it's a shame, it was such a great board. I went and picked up an Asus Maximus Formula and selecting the vanilla cores and drivers, it's all up and running with sound, network and video. fantastic!...

Lucky me this time.. After much fustrated walkthrough i was able to get the MAC on my INTEl...The system spec is in my Sig.

So The thing was.. 160 GB SATA was made 2 peices..

1. for MAC journal

2. for DOS FAT

GUID PArtition Table

In customization

1. I didnot opt for Vanilla. cause i had USB Keyboard and Mouse

2. Video Drivers ->NATIT _gfNVIDIA

3. Sound ->HDA _ ALC882

4.Bootloaders-efi

Thatz it i got my desktop...

Btw...I would like to know how to ennable LAN I have put my motherboard specs in coded mode please..

http://in.asus.com/products.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=1690&l1=3&l2=11&l3=542&l4=0
