THANKS A TERA TO KALYWAY AND DUNE FOR THIS GREAT RELEASE! Bow to the masters. :)

I finally d/l the entire file. Installed it on my Presario C571NR, it works great. I am expecially pleased that the Apple kernel actually works! I have a question about the kernel tho.

I was so eager to install it that I didn't read the entire post in this forum. I only chose the Vanilla kernel without Vanilla_acpi_fix, then I read it somewhere in this forum that I need to install both. So far it seems to run fine without it, I am wondering if it's absolutely necessary to install kernel_acpi_fix?

Here are my picks:

Vanilla_kenel only

No sse2

Azalia_Audio.out

mbr efi (For my triple boot, Ubuntu Gusty + Garbagesoft hastala Vista).

As in the previous ToH 10.5 installation, the energy saver didn't have battery indicator, which is an inconvience for notebook, so I replaced the PowerManagement.bundle with the one in JaS 10.4.8 and it works great.

Some problems still persist:

1.) I still get quite a few of these in the system log, _CFGetHostUUIDString: unable to determine UUID for host. Error: 35. What does it mean, how does it affect the OS? It's just annoying but doesn't seem to do anything bad.

2.) Sign. Still not able to get the Broadcom4311 internal wireless to work, any suggestions?

3.) Still no headphone output and mic input. Any suggestions?

Other then that, it works great. Thank you again.

1) No read ussues , it is just anoying. You probably installed the vanilla smbios, use the one from netkas to fix the issue

2) What do you get ? Did you try to change the Info.plist with your device ID ?

3) need more details about ur hardware, get the exact sound chip version from windows ALCxxx? or anything else ?

rassha thanks for the reply. What exact model of motherboard do you have and do you have any reboot, sleep, powerdown issues? Are onboard lan and sound working?

As i told earlier, onboard audio recognized without problem (select - Azillia_ADI driver) . There are issues with onboard LAN (Attansic L1), and there are no working or patched kext, so it don't working.

So I bought additional network adapter (Ovislink AirLive LFE8139) which is recognized without any intervention...

I just tested power off, restart, and even sleep work without problems...

(bios settings)

-max cpuid value - disabled

-vanderpool - disabled

-cpu tu function - enabled

-execute disable bit - enabled

-acpi 2.0 - enabled

-acpi apic - enabled

Ok dokie. After spending several hours reading everything in this thread I have not found a solution to my problem. I had some basic problems at first, my bios settings were incorrect etc. Well after fixing this, the installation worked. This was a very exciting thing and I thought that it would work at this point. Unfortunately... When it booted up, it starts to and the simply stops working at a certain point. I don't really understand why it won't boot though considering the installation DVD now boots and installs. I am going to try installing without Vanilla now, but this is going to drive me nuts. If you have any ideas I would be most appreciative. If I boot the same hard drive on my laptop it works fine. Edit: Doesn't work with non-vanilla kernel either.

Desktop is a Core2Quad with a P35 Chipset. (foxconn p35)

laptop is a core2duo.

Btw. I really really would like to get the vanilla to work.

It stops at "10485 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers"

Edit: I have done some research, and most of it says that it is the ACPI and APIC kexts. Unfortunately it says to use the 10.4.8 files. I'm not sure how to get these, where to find them, how to add them to the install nor am I even sure if this would work. Could you help me please? Thanks again for your hard work.

Edit: Talked to Kalyway and Dune. The problem was the ACPI and APIC kexts. The option on the installer for SSE2 uses the same kexts from the dvd, so if you simply check this it will solve your problem hopefully, at least it did for me.

Yay! Success!

Got this installed w/ the built-in EFI 8 install and only NEEDED an ALC883 audio installer to get audio working. Then got the NVinject 0.2.0 and 10.5.2 kexts/OpenGL.framework and have a fully functional 8600GT via DVI.

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-945P-S3 (v1.0)

CPU: Core 2 Duo 6400 @ 2.13GHz

RAM: 2GB PC-5400 DDR2

VIDEO: EVGA GeForce 8600GT 256MB PCIe

HD: Seagate 500GB SATA-II (at least the HD that it's on)

In order not to fuss around w/ bootloaders for Windows/Hackintosh booting, I just made the Leopard partition the 1st partition on a different HD than the Windows bootloader and use the BIOS boot menu to choose what HD to boot from. A few times, I've had to boot w/ -f or the system restarts before displaying anything past the Starting Darwin text, but I THINK that's resolved now (or at least FOR now).

Has anyone had any odd freezes, though, with this install? Once I had Finder freeze trying to eject a disc and another time I had Finder freeze just trying to choose an avatar for Microsoft Messenger. It's also frozen a few times opening the Displays control panel (which could be the NVinject stuff alone).

If anyone's curious, here are my Xbench results:

hi,

i've nearly got the same configuration, but 4 gb and a Core 2 Duo 6600 @ 2.4GHz and gf 6600 gt. after selecting the partition and the install procedure, i got an "unknowen error" at the very end. when examing the logfile, the OSInstaller gives the information: "can't delete package on volume....".

I tried to change bios settings without success:

CPUID Value Limit: Disable

C1: Disable

NX: Enable

CPU TM: Enable

SATA Mode: Enhanced

any ideas? thanks in advance

Hey Jova!

I have a Dell E510, which I believe is basically the same rig as yours. I have been running as a hackintosh for a long time now. I have an audio fix that would hopefully help you! I have Kalyway's Leo 10.5.1 up and running great, but I was not able to use the vanilla kernal option (it would just get stuck in a reboot cycle after install. I believe it might be due to the fact that I have a Pentium D processor. I was able to use EFI with MBR option. Did you not choose vanilla as well to get it working? Thanks!

Hey Francola, everyone :yoji: :

OK, so as I said Im a total newb at this but it worked!

I don't know how similar a Dell E1505 (with ATI x1400 graphics, Sigmatel 92xx and Dell 1500 Wifi) and a Dell E510 are but I remember I set it up just loke the DVD directs, exept that the first 2 times I overlooked the preparing with GUID or MBR for the HD... the third time I chose the GUID and it worked...

About the audio, I finally got it working... I looked closely at the thread again and found a link with the AppleHDA 1.16 thingy and the Codec text that was needed. Boom! Sound!!!

.... lets see what else? Um now Im going to deal with that pesky ATI x1400. wish me luck.... BTW any newer dealings with said card? Whats the deal with it really? I've seen people call it cursed by OSX and stuff... can it be used with resolutions other than default? (1024 x 768?) Looks ok I guess but my panel goes higher than this... can the card go there?

Steps i took:

Prepared Harddrive as GUID and Installed EFIv8 with i am me parts

and info.rebooted to check it error reports com.apple.boot not found(indicates it worked)

Then i loaded the Kalyway 10.5.1 DVD selected my drive and choosed the patches for my Hardware.

Install went pretty straight forward(20min).Rebooted and voila the Intro Movie was playing ;)

I tried iATKOS the DAY before..to much to fix afterwards

yo ... another ny'er.....i'm in SI...do you have sleep working ?......everything works for me except sleep and i'm mental about it!!!!!!

BK in the house! What up, SI?

You know, I haven't even tried sleep. I've got a Torrent cooking at the moment. But, I'll try it later and report back.

I have two *extremely* minor fixes I'd like to make to my install if possible.

1) Is there a way to prevent the Darwin bootloader from giving you that five-second countdown before it launches?

2) I'll preface this by saying that I think this is an issue with my Dell Truemobile wireless router and not my Leopard rig. But here goes: I leave my wireless router and cable modem on when the desktop computer is turned off. The machine is running Leopard (Kalyway) and is linked to the wireless router via ethernet cable. The problem? When I turn on the computer in the morning, the router doesn't issue the computer an IP address... I therefore have to turn off the router and power cycle it in order to gain Internet access. People have suggested that I enable "wake on LAN"--which I've done, to no avail.

Everything else on my rig is working in spectacular fashion. Thanks again to all involved. And thanks in advance for your help with these issues.

Install went perfect but I noticed that when Im copying files hard drive to hard drive Leopard seems extra sluggish. Like it took me 15sec to open Safari which only took 2secs usually. It just doesnt feel as snappy. I know copying files over can slow the system down but sometimes gets to the point of actually stalling whenever Im doing something else. Anybody experience that?

HELP!

I've tried installing 4 times now without success. For all attempts I've had the drive in one formatted partition with guid selectred. For all attempts for drivers I've had selected SSE2, Nvidia laptop video card, ac97 sound, and guid boot. When I try and enter vanilla after F8 Darwin thinks for awhile and then the computer restarts. For the first three attempts under custome I had the vanilla kernel selected and the install would fail with "Less than one minute remaining". With vanilla deselected I get a successful install but when I restart without DVD I just get a blank screen with a blinking cursor. With DVD I get the message "system config file '/com.apple.boot.plist' not found".

I'm trying to install on a Dell Latitude D800 with a Pentium M 1.7Ghz cpu, Nvidia Geforce FX Go5200 video, 512MB RAM, and 40GB hdd. This is the only hard drive attached no other OS installed.

Can anyone help me out?

Vanilla Kernel/PC EFI needs Core2Duo to work. You probably have EFI selected which messed up your partitions.

Well I tried without vanilla kernel selected... where is the EFI selection?

Its the bottom item in the options list, selected by default. I havent used the kalyway without EFI so not sure how it will turn out. Hope it works for you.

Thanks for the reply.

1.) Hmm, I will have to try that.

2.) Yea, I followed every suggestions in this forum, the Dev and ven id are already in the original AppleAirPortBrcm4311.kext. But I have no luck getting it to work. I read that because on HP/Compaq, the Broadcom4311 is using mini PCIe and some said because it has a soft start, which I don't really know what that mean, therefore it wont work on OS X. Not sure how accurate these info are.

3.) This is what I am not very clear about. The audio chip is a conexant chip. I had extracted the codec using Linux. I used the HDApatchers (all versions), but they kept giving me error saying the codec is not recognized or something like that. What is the relation between ALCxxx, AppleHDAudio and Azalia anyways?

Had the same annoying message every time I started the system since I don't use my wireless lan. Go to Systems\Library\StartupItems\ and delete it.
you had just to enable the ethernet that corresponds to the wifi in the network preferences lol, no need to delete anything
thx again dune, I got lan working but I got this msg everytime I turn on/off my computer:picture2hw8.th.png
well, do what it said :( go to your Network preferneces and add the ethernet that corresponds to your wifi. Apply
