Hi guys, i will start telling you i had no problem at all booting from DVD and installing Leopard Kalyway 10.5.1.

In Disk Utility I did the partition selecting GUID in 2 partitions with Mac OS Journaled. I will not use dual boot, so I wanted only 2 partitions, for organization purposes.

Then I have selected the first partition to proceed with installation. In the preferences i've selected only Bootloaders EFI > EFI GUID and the Azalia Out driver

Untill here, everything is ok. After installation receive this error message:

System config file '/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found

I have a few questions:

- I have read about problems with IDE DVD drivers. How do I know what kind of dvd driver i have?

- How i should configure my HDD in the bios? as IDE, RAID or AHCI?

- Any additional information about BIOS?

- Any possible solution to this problem?

Before my post is deleted, i have not find any solution in other threads or comments. Thanks.

Thanks very much. This version works 100% for me. Only thing I had to do is get some kext´s for Sound and Networking.

Now I have a problem: When I leave the pc as it is for about 10 minutes and I then try to start Safari it doesn´t load and I only see the spinning wheel.

Thank you Kalyway. I am using your image and updated to 10.5.2. Works 99% well.

Only issue I have is my RealTek wireless 8187 is seen as Wired Ethernet instead of Wireless. It works, but because of this, I cannot connect unless I disable WPA.

The other thing is, after updating to 10.5.2, Activity Monitor has disappeared from the Utilities Folder. Where did it go?

Holy smokes... after trying and trying and trying I finally got this thing installed.

Kalyway 10.5.1

Running on a Hp Dv9540 Laptop

Specs are:

Centrino Core Duo 1.6 ghz

4GB Ram

Nvidia Geforce 8600M GS

Realtek RTL8168B/81118B Gigabit ethernet

Intel Wifi link4965agn

Hp webcam builtin

Realtek Audio

What is working:

Gigabit ethernet

Nvidia Graphics

Webcam

Audio

The only thing that is not working is the wifi, is there a way to get that working on this?

I had to install it using the GUID mode in both the format and the Customize option.

Vanilla install with acpi, but I had to use the SSE2 option as well, it would just crash on the grey screen during load then give the " hold down power button or push reset"

This should work with sse3 right?, according to cpuz I have an sse3 capable proc.

also mine reboots and shuts down well on it's own, i can honestly say that aside from the wifi I would never know this wasn't a powermac.

After the install I had to go back and download three things to get the audio and video to work, once the video started working the webcam came on behind it..till then it would turn the cam on but show a green screen only.

K1rby, what video driver did you use? I have the same laptop/video card as you and I can't get the webcam to work for anything.

Does anyone know if it is possible to restore the kalyway iso to a bootable partition

in a SATA hard drive and do the install from there?

I saw Brazilmac's guide on how to prepare just such a partition, I just do

not know if it can apply to the kalyway's image.

I also described my troubles in:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...=94925&st=0

In short I have lots of issues with using the dvd-r disk, the hd partition

approach is really speedy and seems like the way to go if it works.

I was able to boot off the restored partition, but just couldn't get the

actual kalyway leopard installation to complete without errors.

Thanks in advance.

Vic

Google for it.

There is a Sourceforge project for web cam support in OS X.

First off, much love for Kaly and Dune for this release. Got it somewhat working, but having a few issues. Here's my rig:

Asus P5B-Deluxe

2 GB PNY DDR667

Intel Core2Duo E6600

ATI X1950pro PCIe

Seagate SATA HDD 300gb w/ OSX 10.1

Installed using MBR

I set the Bios up the way I've been reading with execute stop bit enabled, pulled all my PCI cards and my second x1950 (use xfire in windows), and just have the 1 video card living in the system at the moment.

When trying to boot normally, I get the grey apple screen with "you much restart your computer" every time. This happened whether or not I used GUID or MBR install. If i setcpus=1 -x -v in advanced startup options, the system boots no problem, but system profiler crashes if i try to go into it. I've adjusted everything I can think off and still not getting anywhere. Sorry if this is a repeat post of an earlier problem, I searched for p5b and didn't really find anything but success stories. Thanks in advance to whoever can help me. Peace and happy easter!

Hi guys.

At first I want to thank Kaly for this nice DVD.

But I have some problems with installing it.

I used this tutorial but the first problem appeared after typing "-v" and booting from the DVD.

Everything went well but as my computer did a reboot I got this message:

"System config file '...../com.apple.Boot.plist' not found"

Does anybody out there know how can I solve my problem?

PS:

I have a MSI P35Neo Mainboard and a Intel Q6600.

Got an hp dv6550eb (belgium edition, Nvidia geforce 8400M, 2 gbram, centrino dual core 2.0 ghz), and after tryed a lot of versions (jas, & co, about 5 versions checked and download and a lot of tutorials...), THAT'S RUN with Kalyway (be careful to uninstall all, and to check only Vanilla Core and MBR (see the very good links http://maconpc.distinctlyjordan.com/2008/0...xp-and-leopard/ and http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=94511

and upgrated with Kalyway 10.5.2. combo update (no found the vanilla kernel upgrade...)

Well... wifi intel 4965 and sound don't work...

For the rest... it's amazin how that speeds, more than my xp freshly installed... Hope that'll be increased...

Thanx to Kalyway ! ;):):D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Has anyone else here noticed how to fix the frozen/dead usb ports sometimes when OS X loads?

Basically I would sometimes have a situation where when I would boot OS X, my mouse, keyboard, basically anything plugged into usb wouldn't work. To get it to work I would have to unplug it and re-plug it.

I just installed the latest Netkas kernel and now I also notice sometimes even after reinserting the usb the peripheral still doesn't respond. So I am forced to shut down the pc by holding the power button and try again.

My mobo is an Intel 945G

THANKS KALYWAY FOR THIS WONDERFUL RELEASE !!!!

I installed it on a 945GM based Sony Vaio VGN-N17G laptop. Its working great.

I installed with "vanilla -v" option.

In customize installation I selected the sse2 patch, vanilla kernel fix(2 of them), efi mbr.

The install took around 40 minutes from inserting the dvd to getting into mac os x.

Sleep, restart, shutdown work.

Tapping on the touchpad works. However, due to some reason tapping does not work if the laptop is not on AC power.

Speakers worked after reinstalling with Azalia out option in sound card.

LAN working after doing steps mentioned here --> Marvell Yukon 88E8036 PCI-E Fast Ethernet FIXED, FIXED BY MYSELF!!!!!!!!!

However, there are a few glitches which I need to fix

-> OS X wont boot on the battery. The laptop MUST be on AC power to boot. It gets stuck at "ACPI: System State [s1 s3 s4 s5] (s3)" if I try to boot without the AC power.

-> Sound input, output is not working

-> WLAN not working.

-> No battery meter.

If anyone around has any idea on how to fix these, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh well... I guess I hosed that install!! ;) I think I just found where I was supposed to choose the format scheme.

picture1id8.png

Where did you find this menu??? I found one place during install I think it was a screen showing all of my partitions, but "Options" was grayed

out and I could not click on it...Any help? I have a B0 error, Vista wont load now. Vista repair wont work...Oh and of course I backed up all my cool stuff <Not>

I think my Vista partition is ok if I can get the Mac install to let me format the Mac partition as GUID.

I read probably a half a million posts but can't find the answer to my problem...

After installing Mac OS X 10.4.8 [Jas Amd Intell SSE2 SSWE3] everything goes smooth. Finalizing installation appeares, after finished finalizing 30 seconds count down appeares, then computer restarts. Thill this moment everything was great... Then computer starts booting and gets stuck at grey screen with grey apple.

Could you please direct me to the appropriate forum or give me some advice.

Thanks.

Mike

Thx for a perfect install. Installed 10.5.1 and updated to 10.5.2 with no issues.

Now for the fun. Trying to dual boot with VISTA (on the same drive, separate partition).

When I boot I get the following options

hd(0,1)

hd(0,2) Foreign Boot

hd(0,3) MAC

hd(0,4) Apple HFS

I have no clue where the Apple HFS came from; however, when I hit Foreign Boot to try and get into VISTA I don't think it is finding the partition correctly. I get Non-system disk.

Is there any way to reset these options so that Foreign Boot finds the correct partition and boots VISTA?

Thx in advance.

I am kind of new to the OSX86 scene. I have successfully installed Tiger 10.4.9 on my current system but this Leopard install is giving me quite the headache. No matter what kernal or options I try when set to GUID the install fails with the triangle at the end. So I switch to MBR and no matter what options I pick the install goes fine but after the reboot I get the blinking cursor. ANyone have any ideas?

EDIT: Forgot to post my specs

Dell Optiplex GX280

P4 HT 2.8ghz

3gigs of ram

Everything works fine under Tiger

Hey everyone, Not new to the scene, But new to the site =D

I'm stuck on a damn reboot loop reboot loop with this, Is it my IDE drives ?

My specs are really bad, I just salvaged this computer

I have 512 RAM

ASUS DRW 1608P3S CD/DVD drive.

I have the KALYWAY 10.5.1 disk, And the hash is correct, Burnt at 1x speed.

Tried -v, It's to quick to see the error.

-x-v Doesn't work either.
