totocaster
Hi everyone I'm new here, Please help me with a problem, I've installed this release on my PC without any problem, my HDD is SATA and completely (160GB) with Mac OS X file system (GUID). So I've restarted PC after successful installation and now it's does not want to boot up at all, I mean it restarts on every boot. I've managed to "Pause/Break" before it restarted and here is what I've got. (see photo) I have Pentium D 820 with SSE3 CPU and Gigabyte 8I945PL-G with GigaRAID turned off completely. Thanks a lot in advance.
Zaza999
Mac OS X : How to Set the MAc Address During Startup Follow these steps to create a script that sets the MAC Address each time the computer restarts: 1. Open Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/). 2. Type: cd /Library 3. Press Return. 4. Type: mkdir StartupItems 5. Press Return. (If you encounter an error, continue to step 6.) 6. Type: cd StartupItems 7. Press Return. 8. Type: mkdir MACADD 9. Press Return. 10. Type: cd MACADD 11. Press Return. 12. Type: pico MACADD 13. Press Return. 14. In the pico editor, paste in the following text. Begin copying below this line. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #!/bin/sh . /etc/rc.common ## # Configure a network interface MAC Address setting ## # # This script will set the MAC Address setting for the specified interface(s) # # The name of the interface (ex. en0) must be edited to match the interface # to which the MACADD setting should be applied # ## StartService () { ConsoleMessage "Configuring MACADD" ### uncomment lines and change the value following 'MACADD' as appropriate mac address if [ "${MACADD:=-NO-}" = "-YES-" ]; then # /sbin/ifconfig en0 lladdr xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx # /sbin/ifconfig en1 lladdr xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx fi } StopService () { return 0 } RestartService () { return 0 } RunService "$1" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- End copying above this line. 15. Uncomment the /sbin/ifconfig line(s) to set the MACADD for a particular interface. Note: Removing the number sign (#) from the beginning of a line uncomments it. Typically, en0 is the interface name for the Built-in Ethernet port and en1 is interface name for the AirPort Card. This is not always the case, though. To confirm that a network port is associated with a particular interface name, open the Network Utility (/Applications/Utilities/), and click the Info tab. 16. When you have finished customizing the file, save it (press Control-O), press Return, and exit pico (press Control-X). 17. Type: chmod 755 MACADD 18. Press Return. 19. Type: pico StartupParameters.plist 20. Press Return. 21. In the pico editor paste in the following text. Begin copying below this line. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Description</key> <string>Can set MACADD</string> <key>OrderPreference</key> <string>None</string> <key>Provides</key> <array> <string>MACADD</string> </array> <key>Requires</key> <array> <string>Network Configuration</string> </array> </dict> </plist> -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- End copying above this line. 22. When you have finished customizing the file, save it (Control-O), press Return, and exit pico (Control-X). 23. Type: chmod 755 StartupParameters.plist 24. Press Return. 25. Type: sudo pico /etc/hostconfig 26. When prompted, enter your password. 27. Press Return. 28. In the pico editor, add this line at the bottom: MACADD=-YES- 29. Save it (Control-O), press Return, and exit pico (Control-X). When you restart the computer, MACADD is set for the interface that you specified. Notes 1. The MACADD will be reset after changing a Location, waking the computer from sleep, or changing the state of the network interface. To use the script again without having to restart, enter the following command: sudo SystemStarter start MACADD 2. If you experience any issues or wish to not set MACADD during startup, you can turn off the new script by changing the MACADD line in /etc/hostconfig to: MACADD=-NO- I tried this and when I got to the part where I save the macadd file after specifying that I want to use the onboard ethernet port (to do that I delete the # right?) it says "Error Writing macadd: Permission is denied." So I figure maybe repairing my permissions will work. So when I do that I get an error that says "Permissions differ on "usr/x11/lib/libX11.6.2.0.dylib", should be lrwxr-xr-x, they are -rwxr-xr-x" and doesn't fix the problem. Any ideas? Patrick Vick
I can't believe I am about to install OSx86 on my new Alienware PC... I have always wanted a Mac, but could never justify the premium on the hardware cost. I need to get my drive to show up in Diskutil.
moloko23
Hi, I just installed OSx86 10.5.1 Leo onto my Lenovo ThinkPad T61p. The first thing I noticed is that my wireless card doesn't work which isn't surprising since it's a "Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG" card. Second thing I notice is my ethernet doesn't work, it's a "Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet" card. Before I start doing anything I would like to get my ethernet card functioning. I am very much a newb, I've been reading up on all of this but a lot of it just goes over my head so I thought I'd just give it a shot but I guess that didn't get my very far. So I've been reading about kext. I guess kext is like a driver package that is recognized by Mac OS. I think there are kext out there for my "Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet" card but even if I found one I wouldn't know how to use it. Do I need to go deep into system folders to place these or do I just burn onto a disc and "install" it? Or am I thinking in the wrong direction and need to embed these kext's into the installer disc? Thanks in advance for any helpful clear-ups, Greetz, moloko23

pewusoft
Hello! When I install Kalyway DVD, after installing, when computer restarts, it stops after POST screen (that one with kind of frame and listing of PCI stuff in PC, connected HDD's, memory, processor) and shows blinking cursor on the left bottom. Then my HDD is starting to work (LED is flashing at very high speed), but Leopard is not loading. I left my computer at this stage for 5h, but nothing happened, hdd was still working and Leopard was not loading. My PC specs: cpu: Intel Pentium D805 mobo: Gigabyte GA-8I945P-Pro memory: 2x512mb dual channel @ 533 MHz hdd: 250GB samsung SATA & 80GB Western Digital ATA dvd: Samsung ATA other stuff: ps2 keyboard & mouse sound: soundblaster x-fi platinum & bulit-in realtek ALC882 asus wlan PCI card broadcom bluetooth usb dongle I've tried many combinations: installing on GUID & MBR (always correct bootloader), vanilla kernel or not, sse3 or sse2 system, on samsung hdd (sata) and the western digital one (ata) and nothing successfull. Sorry for my English, i know it isn't very good

xeongx
Hey, need some help here. I'm on the Kalyway installer, but it's not showing my hard drive. It only shows the Leopard installation disk. Anyone know how to fix this problem? I dont think that any of the osx86 support SATA hard drives, I have SATA hard drive and it doesn't get detected at all, i've tried everything. It recognizes my old 4GB IDE hard drive tho, so I guess we have to buy IDE hard drives. I suggest a 250GB Western Digital IDE. There is another way, you could go into BIOS and set SATA as AHCI or SATA as IDE, but if your BIOS doesn't have those options then your like me..... no hope.....
