franz73
@MacSimizeDenver 1) Yes my DVD drive is set as Master 2) Today I switched the two HD I have. I have two extractable HD drive boxes. The first is a blank HD or so I think. The second Is Windows XP but I turn it off before attempting to install Kalyway. WinXP is on SATA2 and the blank disk is on SATA1 3) Yes it's my first experience with MacOS on Pc!! Today I also put AHCI mode in Jmicron eSATA/PATA controller (but I don't use this connector!). I tried to install Kaliway but the message is always the same: System config file '/com.apple.boot.plist' not found Cany you understand? Ive tried -v, -x, legacy, cpus=1 etc,etc but nothing seems to work 4 me.. could you point me in the right direction or anyone else let me know what this problem could be about? plympton
I don't know about a third party VNC application, but I've been able to use Apple Remote Desktop ("Screen Sharing") with my MacBook and my Hackintosh, no problems. About a third party app, no idea. Check that you haven't blocked any ports or anything like that in the Hack's firewall or something like that, but I really don't know what to tell you. The only VNC solution I found by NOT using the built-in VNC server and using REALVNC's server instead (www.realvnc.com). Unfortunately, the only Mac version is a Paid enterprise version that runs on Leopard, which is $50. Yikes. It has worked great over the last few days, so I'm inclined to pay for it since I can't find any creative licencing out there. Somehow it thinks my 30-day trial has expired, though.. hmm... -Dan

SonicSpeed
OK another noob question Setup: Gigabyte 965P-S3 Core 2 Duo E6600 (stock) 4GB OCZ DDR2-800 100GB SATA 20GB IDE 36GB SCSI (LSI Logic SCSI PCI) NEC DVD-RW Drive After waiting for about ten minutes or so (when the text gets smaller), I get the error mkdir() Failed to create /library/logs Read-Only File System. It also says SAM Multimedia: Read or Write Failed sometimes before and after it. I even booted in -s and manually formatted the drive I was going to use and it still didn't work. I'm gonna try however, to do that to the SATA drive instead of the IDE drive to see if it works (since my SCSI drive isn't being recognized). bennec83
Hi, No matter what i do this will not work, i have tryed your method, This method, and the method iAtkos suggests, i have tryed the iAtkos v1 and tryed it with all the updates and patches you can apply, i have tryed kalyways dvd's, nothing works. I have emailed yourself, kalyway and iAtkos & posted in the forums, but no mention of pointing me in the right direction, i dont get what the problem is i have some of the best equipment available on the market and this will not work, i guess this just proves how limited MAC's are. I was a MAC hater before i tryed this and as i said i have been trying this for about 3-4 weeks now and it still dont work. I actually wanted to stop myself hating them so much but its kinda back firing!! No matter what method i try (ignoring the dual boot!!) i can prep a totally separate harddisk for the MAC install, unplug everything other then my DVD drive and the prepared Hard Disk for OSX, and no matter what DVD (iAtkos or Kalyway) when i run the setup (with -v) it just stops and tells me that "cannot find root device" I dont get the problem, the drive is there, it is plugged in, it is formatted for OSX. it should work. I know that this has something to do with my nForce board, but i have seem people on this forum with the Same EVGA board as me and they have it working. With regards to this, iAtkos, Kalyway and devilhood all mention that "you need to inject the nforce drivers into the DVD" but im sure that i have applyed each update in chronological order and tryed the install each time with the same effect. From what i can see, the DVD's dont work, the updates dont work, and peoples described methods dont work. I have read every page i can find about this, i am not a lazy person and i do my research but i find that no-one is willing to help, this is kind of infuriating as i have followed every compliance in the forum rules, i have read everything i can find, i have not made rubbish posts asking repeating questions. It is like banging my head off a brick wall. My system config is below, can someone please help: All hard disks are sata, DVD drive is IDE Intel Core 2 Duo E6700, Socket 775, 2.66 GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 4MB Cache Link EVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1 NF680i SLI, S775, PCI-E(x16) MoBo Link BFG GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB Link Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator TwinX Link Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion Series Link 2 x 74 GB Western Digital WD740ADFD Raptor, SATA I, 10000 rpm, 16MB Cache (Striped RAID) (Vista Installed Here) Link 80 GB Western Digital WD800AAJS Caviar SE, SATA II, 7200 rpm, 8MB Cache (Not in an array - stand alone drives) Link

None of driver developers and compilation publisher such as Kalyway and Uphuck gets paid on regular basis for their work and hence no one should blame them. They are probably busy with their personal stuffs just like us and still try to help others with what they found about Hackintosh. About (2). The reason that all of your trials, which is just a subset of all possible combinations, ended without success is because there's no driver for the SATA controller on EVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1. "Cannot find root device" error simply means that the installation DVD doesn't see your SATA HDD. Such claim is backed by this report. Now if I were you, I would try again with IDE HDD (and without non-onboard video card and audio card) using GPT. If you don't have any IDE HDD, I would buy some Intel chipset motherboard which is known to work fabulously instead of IDE HDD. Good luck. --S P.S. When you try something, try to be smart and efficient first. That will save some time of yours and others. P.P.S. If you happen to have a Mac, then connect your SATA HDD to the Mac and install Leopard natively from your Mac. Then remove AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext, add dsmos.kext, and replace AppleSMBIOS.kext as usual, and install EFI on the SATA HDD. Then connect the SATA HDD to your Hackintosh, boot your Hackintosh, and try to write something on the SATA HDD. By doing so, you can see if the claim is true by yourself without buying more stuffs. If writing is okay, then you should report that there's is a way, which I just described, of installing Leopard on your motherboard with SATA HDDs. garlog
What software do you use for Kaly 10.5.1 for CPU Throtteling? The CPU Throttel software from Bresink does not work. JumpZero
Hello, I can read that many people are facing problems to extract the zip file. I did have the same. But I found the reason (at least for me) the iso image is greater than 4Go FAT32 file system maximum file size is 4Go Since the zip file is lesser than 4Go the problem appears only when extracting the archive. Furthermore the zip software (Winzip, winrar at least) error messages aren't clear. Extract the file in a NTFS or ext3 or whatever you want and there is no problem. I hope this can help but may be somebody already notice it. See u -- Jmp0
Guest lakesarecool
Hey everyone. I've been struggling to get kalyway to install properly. I have an Asus P5k(regular) motherboard and a sapphire radeon x1950 256mb graphics card At first i tried updating the firmware to the latest release, configured my bios settings according to the tutorials available. The kalyway install boots up and installs fine. Then i get to the point of restarting the computer, once i restart, i'm stuck in a reboot loop. part of the code was kernel trap at 0x2e169f00 type 14= page Also it was complaining about not being able to obtain the ehci from the bios. I installed using only the vanilla kernel, and the efi_mbr, as my previous installs failed with the drivers also. Then i tried booting with -x, everything loads fine, it asks me to enter in keys for my keyboard, once i get to the point where it asks whether i want to use time machine, i press no, and it loops back through the beginning. Then i tried downgrading the firmware to 406, and the kalyway install would not even load. I was getting the still searching for root device error, and the ehci error again. Then i tried keeping my install from the upgraded bios, and downgrading to 406, to use ahci, and that didn't work either. I'm still getting the same errors. If anyone can help, thanks in advance. kyon
Installed Kalyway 10.5.1 Intel...installation went fine. For once, I didn't recieve the blinking cursor after POST, but finally got the Darwin Bootloader screen. After letting it load, I would get about 2 seconds in, and it would reboot. So I typed in -v at the Bootloader to see what was going on. Here is what I got:I don't know what the "S" is at the end..I tried countless times to Pause Break to see what it was, but i honestly think S is the last letter/word before it reboots...Any ideas?
