How exactly did you burn the ISO? It's a disk image, so you don't "put it on the disk." You burn it directly, and there's no way to put any other files on the same disk. On Windows, I recommend using Imgburn.
Yeah I know that. :)

The problem was that I needed to set SATA Configuration as AHCI. Now it's installing, but the installer doesn't have a patch for Geforce 8 series. I think I have the patch on my hard drive. Can someone tell me how to open it in OSX and patch the installation?

How can I tell if I have EFI or not?As you can imagine it is almost there which is really frustrating.

Any help would be most appreciated and thank you all very much for the wonderful work. Cheers, Y

@yahia...

here's the efi stuff you asked for:

to check if EFI installed, I use ioreg from terminal (I'm not sure if it's only installed with XCODE). Type: ioreg -p IODeviceTree -b -n efi | grep "efi" -C 4 and you should get something like

CODE

+-o Root <class IORegistryEntry, retain 13>

+-o / <class IOPlatformExpertDevice, registered, matched, active, busy 0, retain 25>

+-o efi <class IOService, !registered, !matched, active, busy 0, retain 7>

Is it based on G80? If so, this worked for me:

There's another thread for G92 boards.

Is there anything we have to put on the DVD in addition to the ISO file? I just put the ISO and when I try to install, it goes to the Apple loading screen and then I get this circle-slash thing. It just freezes at that point. I waited like 5 minutes after it came up, so I don't think it works.

circle-slash.thumbnail.jpg

I'm having the exact same problem. It gets into the Mac screen but after a while I get that no smoking sign and it freezes.

I'm using a Gigabyte P35C-DS3R with a Q6600 processor and 4 gigs of OCZ memory.

I've got a 250 gig SATA hard drive partitioned with Vista installed on the first partition, the second is set to active and ready to be formatted by OSX when it boots.

I've got a SATA burner by Samsung and I'm using the Kalyway Leopard disc.

Any advice?

Hmm I have the same board and kaly boots up fine yet I am using a USB DVD. I dont have a SATA burner.. maybe try putting it a diff plugin 0-8.. sorry
On my gigabyte P35- DS4 with a vanilla EFI I had very weird problems such as kernel panics when decompressing large files and Ethernet freeze (experienced by a number of people here) despite bios tweaks mentioned in this thread.I changed my bios to AHCI and everything works 100%Time machine/ Software update / ethernet / Protools 7.4 with mbox2I have no idea why but AHCI mode solved all my problems.I was unable to get my Asus 8500 GT video card (using NVinject 0.2.1) to work so I used a 7300 GT and it works fineNow I just have to make XP AHCI capableThanks for an amazing release. This really rocks
Well for me and Vista that part was EASY. GO here and try this http://www.itwriting.com/blog/?p=288

Is your SATA controller set to AHCI mode? Which controller are you using (purple or yellow)? I recommend not using the JMicron(purple) one, and disable it in the BIOS. It's {censored}.

I have the same mobo, cpu and also used a Samsung SATA DVD drive, and did not have this problem.

I need help!

Every time I try to install this, it failes at javatools.pkg! I have burned the disc twice and they match the md5! The second time my dad burned it with his (real) mac!

Install failed: The installer could not verify the contents of the "Javatools" package, please contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

Is there any command I can put alongside vanilla and -v that will skip this package?

SOMEONE ANSWER ME ALREADY. :P

I've tried searching this thread, but was unable to find anything that exactly matches the problem I'm having.

My specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86Ghz

1GB DDR2-800 RAM

GeForce 7950GT (512MB)

ASUS P5NSLI motherboard

250GB SATA drive (for Windows)

150GB IDE drive (for Leopard)

I'm able to boot the install DVD properly (after entering "-v -x cpus=1"), but I'm having trouble with my HDD. If I format it as MBR, then when I try to install Leopard it says it is "unable to install some files" to my HDD. If I try to format it as GUID, it says that it is creating a partition but it does nothing. When I've selected "erase" instead of "partition," the same thing happens except it says "preparing to erase" and the cursor locks up.

But it matches the md5 and has happened twice!

What did you use to unzip the download? There are some unzippers that appear to work but in fact result in a corrupted ISO file.

I'd say you have an incompatible IDE controller. Try installing on your SATA drive instead.

Booted up into the installer, and went to the screen to select a HD, and only my XP HD showed up. I have one XP one, and the other used to have Ubuntu but I deleted the partition, did fixmbr and just went on using XP. Do I have to format the second drive a different way? It's a 160 gig SeaGate drive, no SCSI card just a mobo.

Hi :)

I've installed the kalyway dvd and I can't get leopard to boot. I'm stuck on the grey apple logo. I've tried to boot with multiple different parameters (-x, -legacy, ...) but I'm always stuck at the same point (see screenshot attached).

I can't find real errors in those lines, only some dependencies problems and a WARNING message at the end.

Rig:

Laptop Asus A6Je

Core2Duo T5600

1GB DDR2

ATI X1450 (ouch :) )

Leopard installed on an external USB hard disk

Install: kernel vanilla and efi mbr (I've tried not to install the included drivers, the natit in particular, but always the same problem)

Thanks for your help. ;)

Hi everyone!

I got it up and running (just 1024 resolution so far but i am working on it)!

But when I run repair permissions I get some error that wont get fixed and I wonder whetherthat is just all right or I made an mistake and should start over (now that I just installed the basic system).

It is about a lot of SUID files that can not be reapired because they have been modified and some permission errors with X11 (that do not get repaired neither).

See the attached pic for the error messages. is that ok or is there something wrong? Is this critical? Should I try to solve all those warnings? How can I fix it?

Thank you!

I get a lot of those warnings too when I try to repair permissions and my system is running fine. I wouldn't worry about it.

All of those SUID errors are normal - we all have that.

Nono, the zip and the iso BOTH match the md5...
Well then I'd say you are just not going to get it installed on that box. Some kind of basic incompatibility somewhere. It happens.

Have you tried your DVD on another system? This will tell you whether it's the DVD or the box you are installing on.

I don't have another system... I'm using an old sh***y computer for forum work while it is incapasitated(sp)...

Um, could it be because I have my processor overclocked? I don't see how considering it is a package verification failure...

Or because I have an ide dvd drive installing to a sata HDD?

I can give you my comp specs if it would help.

That was my stupid mistake. Double checked AHCI. Once that was done it booted and installed without a hitch.

Now I've got OSX installed and I just need to do some fine tuning. I didn't bother to install a bootloader first, is there one that's easy to install in OSX? I can just restart and use the boot disk to get back into Windows, certainly, but I should probably solve that problem in the near future.

Otherwise, the hard part is one.

hi,

can someone help with the Kalyway install? I tried it out with my P5W DH Deluxe but no luck. I tried IDE and SATA DVD and it restarts at 1 minute left on install.

I tried to boot up on it but I get the Please hold to restart message. Can anyone help me?

I successfully installed 10.5.1 before using the hard drive image install using windows and manually patched EFI (v.3 i think).

Thanks in advance
