Well I'm stumped. I've now tried 3 different burners, Samsung Writemaster, Apple Superdrive, a Sony DVD-DL, 3 different types of media, Ritek DVD+R, Maxell DVD-R, Verbatim DVD+R, redownloaded the image using Azureus instead of uTorrent, verified MD5s, used different burning programs, IMGBURN, CDBurnerXP, Nero, Disk Utility, Disco, always at lowest burn rate available. NOTHING will install on 3 PCs I've tried (my below gaming rig, my AMD HTPC, and a Dell GX270 at work.) I've wasted about a dozen recordable DVDs now.

I got the torrent from TPB...should I have gotten it elsewhere? Or what could I possibly be doing wrong?

On the discs that actually boot up and get to the installer, I first erase the drive I want to use with Disk Utility, make it MBR partitioned with a single large Mac HFS+ Journaled partition, then I select Vanilla + ACPI, and MBR Boot Loader, then I skip disc check. EVERYTIME after that...it goes for a few minutes, then fails at "failed to verify BasePackage."

This is driving me insane. About a month ago, I was trying to install Leopard that I had downloaded on my Mac Mini. I had the exact same error! Over and over! I ended up just copying Leopard from a Mac at work.

Please!!! Someone tell me what the :censored2: :censored2: :censored2: :censored2: :censored2: I'm doing wrong!

From your sig, it looks like you need to install the SSE2, not Vanilla. Also, try to skip all the other drivers and get a "bare" install...

The Vanilla install is for Core series processors, going from what I read...

I have a GA P35-DS3L. everything works fine but like others have said when I shutdown it shuts down the HDD but my power is still on and fans still spin. I have to hold the power button down to shut it down. anybody fixed this yet?

Instant reboots during install kext loading....

I have been trying to install KALYWAY 10.5.1 on a computer where I used to, and still have a working osx86 10.4.5. It's a custom P4 SS2 only with an Intel motherboard.

However, the install process instantly reboots during one of the kext loads. I have tried -v but there is no way I have time to see which kext causes the reboot. A GUI never comes up. I have also tried most boot options found in this thread, none help.

I have tried the same install DVD on another computer, where it boots to the GUI.

Is there any way to figure out which kext causes the instant reboot?

Does anyone know exactly what "cpus=1" enables or disables? Besides the obvious, I mean! I have a Core 2 Quad system that seems to need "cpus=1" no matter what kernel or BIOS settings I use. Without it, I just get reboot reboot reboot. With "cpus=1" and the SSE2 kernel I get a perfectly functional 10.5.1 - LAN, USB, Audio, full QE/CI video, even the volume buttons on my keyboard work! I would just like to figure out a way to use all 4 cores!

More generally, is there a list somewhere of all the kernel flags and exactly what they do?

I think I'm missing something obvious here but here goes.

There seems to be something (possibly in the DVD Image of Kaly 10.5.1) that makes my HDD's all appear to spin down just after the GUI part of the install starts. Whatever it is I can only install when I disconnect 3 of my 4 hard drives. I then install on the one that's connected using either GUID or MBR EFI's!

My problem is when I reconnect the other hard drives. No problem when install using the MBR EFi but if I go down the GUID route when I select my Easy BCD entry in the windows bootloader (loading from HDD 0 the Vista drive) I get an error message that says "Chain Booting Error" I am sure I have seen this mentioned somewhere before but I have searched using the forum search tool and Google to no avail. Incidentally if I do exactly the same thing using an MBR install it all works perfectly.

What am I failing to do to make the GUID install work?

It´s probably just a bios problem. Look for Dune31´s Bios-Settings in this thread.

He Ty for your fast reply my laptop dind't have as much bios option so i tried them all ;)

but that wasn't the problem then i saw the next line in the first post

Vanilla kernel and acpi vanilla (wit reboot fix and ps2 support) ( you must select both of them)

So i tried that kernel one and so far so good

just one more question i got no sound so is it possible to install sound drivers after you just installed leopard ?

thanx in advanced

Absolutely, i do not know your sound chipset, but you will certainly find help on the Taruga's Topic AppleHDA solution.

I finally managed to get mac os installed, got to the finished setup screen. So i rebooted and booted into my external hd. And it just hangs and doesn't load. You know when you turn on your computer all that bios and system specs running in that black background. Thats where i get left at. Supposely hd is suppose to load. Its acting as if there is no boot information. Its like when you try to boot a non bootable drive, except it doesn't even say invalid drive. I removed the hd and put it into my boards ide, same thing. Please help

I have vanilla kernal installed and am using mbr.

System: intel core 2 duo e6750

I just installed leopard on a whim....thought it would be smooth and easy...

my PC

Gigabyte GA 965p DS3

E6300

Winfast PX6800GS

hdd config:

1. 80GB WDC PATA Windows boot

2. 160GB Seagate SATA installed leopard here

3. 160GB seagate SATA just my personal files

4. DVDRW pioneer IDE/PATA?

I received an error at the boot of leopard after installation, it was "b0 error"

huh?oh...and so I remembered that the hdd should be in AHCI mode

but what's an AHCI?I looked up in the wiki and found that my windows will go BSOD if I changed the hdds to AHCI mode

what would you do if you were me and youre too lazy too reinstall windows?

I had the same problem. You can try the solution on post #73 on : http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...5841&st=60#

If that doesn't work (it didn't for me) read this link for info (this one worked for me): http://forum.osx86scene.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=209

If you're too lazy to get OS X working, you should just give it up and go back to Windows. I just spent 3 hours just trying to get the above problem fixed. Sometimes these problems take a lot of time.

As for your b0 error specifically, it usually means that no partition is set as active. Check post #73 at the above link for some info on how to set your OS X partition as active.

I config my sata as "standard ide" when I install my winxp and leopard on one of my 320GB sata hd without any problem. I tried AHCI before, it also works but its not necessary. The main problem I had with AHCI is that it makes all my hd icons into external icons. I know how to change them but the other problem is that I would get error msg popup initializing my pata hd... so I just use standard ide configuration.
AHCI is the best choice for this mobo.

Orange icons are normal because AHCi make your disk removable. But what i found strange that's the fact you have orange icon with the ICH7R , on this mobo the icons are orange only if you use the Jmicron Sata.

About the error msg popup, the fact to use AHCI on ICH7 avoid it (That's the only way to avoid it).

On the windows side , there is a way to install AHCI drivers after windows install. All you have to do is to boot your windows in standard IDE , install Intel AHCI drivers ; go back to the bios , change into AHCI and reboot.

Leo works perfectly on your mobo. you have the b0 error , because you have installed Efi_guid on a MBR partitionned Disk. All you have to do is to Reinstall.

When you are in Diskutil , redo your partition in GUID/GPT mode (to choose the Guid mode click the button "Options.." in the bottom).

After that quit Diskutil , continue install, and choose :

-Vanilla_Kernel

-Vanilla_ACPI_fix

-NAtit_geforce or NVinject (i do not know which is the best for the 6800).

-ALC883(DS3) . if your DS3 got this sound chipset. i've heard about a new revision of this mobo with a different sound chip.

-EFI_guid

Your install should work perfectly.Don't forget to configure correctly your bios too (NX must be Enabled)

On my gigabyte P35- DS4 with a vanilla EFI I had very weird problems such as kernel panics when decompressing large files and Ethernet freeze (experienced by a number of people here) despite bios tweaks mentioned in this thread.

I changed my bios to AHCI and everything works 100%

Time machine/ Software update / ethernet / Protools 7.4 with mbox2

I have no idea why but AHCI mode solved all my problems.

I was unable to get my Asus 8500 GT video card (using NVinject 0.2.1) to work so I used a 7300 GT and it works fine

Now I just have to make XP AHCI capable

Thanks for an amazing release. This really rocks

The problem come from the AppleViaAta (this is one used by the system when you are in standard IDE). A bug has been found in this kext which cause the symptom you have experienced.

haha...you got me....

well...it's more like there was this thing called deadline and can't have a reinstall in this crucial time(installing windows is half hour, but setting up and installing the softwares would take bout a day)

so "b0 error" means that there's no active disk?I'll try to fix that....later........

anyway, thx a lot

NOO !!! i have answered to you ! this is not your problems !

@all

In Kalyway the "B0 error" is not due to an Active partition problem !It is only the result that you have installed the wrong EFI on the wrong partition table !

but why do you want to change it ???? this one is perfect for EFi. do not take the original one cos memory frequency and some stuffs will be reported false. This is just cosmetic. Or do like MacPaq did, but don't change this kext.

Thank you Dune, i understand and will not change anything in msbios kext, but the question is, will i be able to download system updates from the apple site,or i will have to patch them.thank's again.

in theory yes, but in practice that's risky.

why ? you will say to me.

Generaly, for small update like security update there is no problem.

but most of the time, big update (like for exemple 10.5.1 -> 10.5.2) modify extensions that are patched for working on your mobo( eg: Id added for your sata or anything else) or add extensions that must be removed for your mobo (eg: AppleCPUPowerManagement) , so it may result on Kernel Panic.

Best thing to do, wait. if we say you if that's ok to do or not this update. If that's not ok , we will do a pre-patched combo update.
