Hi all. I was just trying to installed kalaways' release but wasn't able to. I got pass the dvd checking phase and was about to installation, until it says

"Install Failed"

"The installer could not create the folder "/Volumes/Mac/BaseSystem.pkg.176o0i2oH"

I am installing it to a usb drive, is that the problem? I am hoping that isn't.

System Specs:

EVGA 650i

Intel C2D 6750

Using SATA dvd-rw for installation

Nvidia 7900gs

4gigs ram

also quick question, i want to use mbr, but i don't know how my volume format should be. Do i use fat32 or mac os extended, journal, etc.

I updated ToH LEOPARD 10.5 RC2 to KALYWAY 10.5.1 using Pacifist, but the user I use as an admin is no longer part of sudoers and I can't install any app or modify any file that request admin rights. Anyone know how to solve this problem, because this is the only way for me to use 10.5.1. If I clean install KALYWAY 10.5.1 it would not boot(I don't know why ... I have 2 HDD: one for WIN and one for MAC, which is formated as mbr and using acronis bootloader).

it is not due to the vanilla. All informations here come from the AppleSMBIOS.kext. And this one is the one from the EFI package. So they left hack.in.tosh, but i do not know why

Hi Dune31, big thanks for your industry! :)

I can only boot into the desktop if I select cpus=1 I have an Acer Extensa 5620 laptop with Core 2 Duo and GMA X3100. I have no such problems with iATKOS and wonder if there is a workaround? I went with EFI-MBR because I have a Vista partition. Bios adjustment is minimal. Any help from any quarter very welcome.

Answering my own question here, lol. I found that one of the differences between my iATKOS partition and the Kalyway one was that the iATKOS one didn't have the Appleintigratedframebuffer.kext. Removing this from Kalway's Extensions folder and repairing permissions did the trick. No more cpus=1 - both cores work.

Dune,

Is there a way to change it? Like source code or something.

Does any1 have problem of not booting into the os after installation? I installed it last night while sleeping. I did hear my hd spining, (its a usb drive so loud). Anyways I heard it restart. I then proceed to turn off the pc. Then today when i woke up i turn on the pc and proceed to boot into mac but it just stayed in prompt.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR INSTALL

i have succesfully installed leopard on

Sempron64 2600 2x512 ram ati9550 256mb

IT WILL DAMAGE YOUR HARD DRIVE

IT HAPPENED TO ME. IT IS NOT A JOKE. THIS WILL CRIPPLE YOUR BOOT FILES:

"invalid partition table"

WITH LUCK YOU CAN INSTALL VISTA BUT NO XP

if you have already installed... leopard is stuck on 60hz refresh rate with no ati drivers and it is IMPOSSIBLE OT RUN WINDOWS APPS ON IT. You will get error.

.

.

.

YOU RISK PERMANENT DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER WITH ANY LEOPARD INSTALLATION.

I am not a n00b and i will not touch os x again after what happened. I AM STILL UNABLE TO INSTALL XP and writing from vista

"invalid partition table" at boot. BEWARE AND DO NOT DOWNLOAD. i had a perfect case install and still...

DOWNLOAD OR INSTALL ON YOUR OWN RISK. COMPUTER PERMANENTLY DAMAGED WITH ANY LEOPARD NOT JUST THIS ONE. it`s because of hfs.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

i wrote this to prevent otherf from experiencing what i have gone through.

After spendings many hours of install and resinstall , my p5k-e wifi-ap now able to bootup leopard.

Then I tried to switch to another gui language say Japanese, after language changed and made a reboot, the gui still in English. What's the problem ?

The problem is, you don´t have read this thread. There´s no other language on this disk. You have to install it from the additional installs of an other disk (Best: Original Leopard). READ THE POSTS!

anyone know what a "B0 error" is?

I kind of have a weird installation. After the estimated time left was at 5min. my hd spin down twice. I suspect that the hd was ideling. The last 5 min took a long time too. Was more like 10-15min. But whats weirder is that I never got that installation was finished, all i got was the round loading icon and then it just rebooted itself. I didn't see any manual reboot button. So anyways i proceed to booting up my drive but all i get is b0 error. Am i suppose to see a screen that says installation complete?

I'm sorry to ask, but what media did you used? and what's your burner?

I had some bad experiences to burn kaly on "good medias" and the cheap ones. And got error on installation at different parts of installer and 2 times when its tried to read the bsd subsystem package to install.

So I decided to try burning it in one of my left dvd-dl verbatim at 2.4x on diskutil app

you really don't need to use dvd-dl to burn it, I just used this one cause its the most near to me brand high quality media I was have to choose without waiting for dvds5 verbatim/tdks come to me that i had ordered.

Try to burn it on verbatins or just other best quality medias and burn at lower speeds as possible.

try too to use one of those bad recording discs on other machines to see if the prob is really on the media recorded, check the md5 of .iso before burning it.

better luck to you.

Well, I checked my MD5s, and they didn't match. So I remembered I had this problem before with Mac images that I downloaded with UTorrent. So I tried Azureus to redownload. This time the MD5s do match. But I've now burned it twice to Maxell DVD-Rs (previously tried those and Ritek DVD+R) at 4x on my Samsung Writemaster (don't know model) with IMGBURN and with Nero Burning ROM, and both had verification errors, and had the same error on "verification of BasePackage failed".

Unfortunately, the only other PC I have is my HTPC, and I don't want to mess with that, and I probably shouldn't bring in pirated OS to work either. :D

But I think I may just copy the image to a portable HD, bring it to work, and burn on my iMac (don't have a DVD burner on my Mini at home.)

Unless someone knows how to copy the image to a USB drive and get it to boot from there??? ;O

Can someone help me to solve the windtunnel effect of gpu fan running at fullspeed in 10.5.1?

Are there any solutions for how to control the fan?

I thought about removing some kexts, but not sure if, or wich ones to remove.

Any help is appreciated! :D

I have a Asus NVidia GeForce 7900GS TOP 256Mb.

Don't work for me. I'm still using cpus=1 to boot with vanilla kernel. i don't now if there is the same issue with patched kernel.

Thanks anyway Kalyway and Dune, but I've given it up as a {censored} disk. I'm sure your efforts are working for many, but for some odd reason I cannot use your DVD.

I've re-acquired your zip, and the MD5 hash is identical to the one you posted. After extraction, the ISO file MD5 is exactly what you posted.

But after two downloads, and multiple DVD's, I still get the exact same error at around 10%. I've let the DVD check process run before installation, and get no errors. Yet it still "Fails to validate the "Base System".

Again, thanks anyway. (iATKOS v1.0i or R2 never worked for me either. I guess I'm stuck at Tiger 10.4.10.)

sleep kernel is installed by default if you don't select vanilla kerne!

What are vanilla and sleep kernels?

By the way, someone installed on VMWare running on Windows XP?

I ran JaS's 10.4.8 in VMWare on my laptop - just for fun...

Regards.

yes u will get a installation complete window and restart button. try to install again but press F8 when cd boots and type vanilla and press Enter. Use efi MBR option. Hope this will help.

Try without the geforce driver or at last without any options to see if it runs and install the driver later.

Thank you for the quick responses but my problem is that the system is not even loading the installer It crashes before that, And yes I have adjusted my bios settings like is suggested much earlier in this discussion.

I have the same stall that I get in the Leopard install with any OSX disc newer then JAS 10.4.8, the only differences is that I get those failures after install regardless of the settings I use or the Kernel. I seem to have the same level of luck regardless. which is what makes me think that my problem might be due to hardware, But from what I have seen everything should work.

Thanks
