Now i got another question...

I,we install my Kalyway with vanilla option at install, it's the only way to install it...

Anyway, i MUST after reboot (install finished), use -x for the Kalyway to start.. if i DONT it crasched when it try to start my graphiccard (x1950pro)....

But is'nt -x option "SAFE boot" ?? and some Extensions not loading ???

Anyway.. the -x options start up my Kalyway installation perfecly but i dont know if all the drivers is up and running...

any suggestions.?

/M

I had the same issue with my x1950 pro and Kalyway install. I installed the driver in the following thread and no longer have to use the -x option.

I've sorted my problem now. All i had to do was click customize and choose the vanilla kernal and the patched one and it installed fine but now I've got a new problem.

When i boot up leopard, i see the white screen with the apple logo in the middle and all it does is try and load the OS.

It hangs there forever and nothing more happens.

I tryed -v and this was the last line I got

waiting for <dict id="0">

(The line is actually longer than that but thats how it starts off LoLz)

Any help plz :)

That doesn't sort out my problem. I was already selecting the vanilla kernel, as well as EFI for GUID. The installer still fails with an "unknown error."

specs:

Asus P5LD2 (Rev 2.0)

intel c2d 2.66ghz

2gb ram

300gb sata hdd (Formatted with GUID)

256mb geforce 7300

BIOS:

Execute Disable Bit: Enabled

CPUID: Disabled

ACPI 2: Enabled

Dune31,

Can I get some help? I've been at this for days and I've read through all the posts. I've tried a lot of suggestions and methods. I've got your release booting, but only with the DVD in the drive. I'm running a Latitude D800 with a Pentium M processor. Installing with GUID results in a failed install, so I have to partition with MBR. I've followed your suggestion and zeroed the drive (the entire drive, several times). I've installed with only SSE2 selected. When I restart without the dvd I get the blinking cursor (need DVD to boot). I boot back into DVD and install PC efi as yan.kun suggested. When I reboot (without DVD) I get a b0 error. Booting back into the DVD the partition is flagged as active (so that's not the issue).

If I start all over, repartition, zero the drive, install with only SSE2, boot back into DVD, and dd boot0, I get b0 error as well. (but this shouldn't be the correct method because boot0 is for GUID not MBR)

I don't know what to do, and would really like to get the system booting without DVD because otherwise it runs smooth as butter (and looks really nice on the UXGA screen).

Thanks!

I have got this screen just about every time I try to install, I just wait it out, then the intstaller starts. I think I am about a the 10th attempt. The first time I installed I just walked away and it seemed to do just fine, but after the reboot, it hung ant the new gray screen before the steup assistant, I waited about an hour before I restarted. then It wouldn't recognize the drive. Since I have tryed "vanilla" "GUID" "SSE2" "MBR" , none of which yeald a sucessful install. Now no matter what I do I get the "Failed Install" screen.

I have got to page 24 of this thread, my eyes hurt, I Got KALWAY on the 30th and have been trying since.

Any advice or or link to post between p24 and p54 that address my issues, would be appreciated.

My rig is:

Intel Celeron D 356

P23G VIA P4M800

2X Elixr 512 333 MHz DDR

Hy all!

I have a some problem during install this realese.

1. When I press any key to start installation, darwin loading and I got 2 error messege.... Okay no problem let's do it again...

2. After booting press F8... Entering into the boot menü and I selected the first option. -v and press enter.

This time I get onto the install menu and I can erase my hard disk, but when he starts installing it with the undermentioned error message stops:

"The Installer could not install some files in "/Volumes/UNTITLED" Contact the software manufacturer for assistance"

UNTITLED is my HD's name.

What should I do?

My Config

Mobo: ASUS P4P800E Deluxe

Intel P4 @ 3.0 GHz HT

1 Gb RAM

IDE 1 : 40 Gb maxtor HDD (ATA)

IDE 2 : Master 250 GB Samsung HDD (ATA)

IDE 2 : Slave ASUS DVD RW (ATA)

VGA: Leadtek Geforce 6600 GT/TDH (AGP)

Having trouble with this. Install works fine.

On reboot after selecting the disk to boot from (using f12) I get a b0 error.

my machine is a

Gigabyte GA-965GM-S2 with a e6300 C2D

2 gig Gskill 6400 ram

7600gt nvidia

500gig sata

+ a 250 gig with winxp on it.

I'm a little fuzzy on what guid is, I partition the drive with the apple HFS journled, and select vanilla kernal and acpi fix. along with the nvidia desktop kext and leave the efi at guid.

any help much appriciated.

to get rid of the b0 error the drive with leopard must be on the first sata port ( hardwarewise), means you have to change the connections in your pc.

got rid of this error, but there are others to be fixed.

Not here, he had installed EFI_guid on a MBR formated HD resulting on a b0 error.@allPlease , there are a Read Me into the installer. Before complains ,,read it Carefully. many problems i see here can be avoid by reading it. I said that cos i see too much people who install EFi_guid on a mbr formatted disk. You have to choose GUID partition table with diskutil before installing EFI_guid.
Probs with P5K (plain) ICH9 explained in this thread (#935) and i posted a workaround (no fix) here:http://forum.osx86scene.com/viewtopic.php?...66&start=15(Prob confirmed by other P5K users)
Ich9 Sata must be in Enhanced IDE if you haven't AHCI on your mobo. the same for ich8. It is not new, i said it from the beginning.

For me this sounds like you are trying to install OS X on a FAT formated partition? OS X needs HFS+ Journaled.

Kaly,

Plz can you say what is wrong?

Everytime I Start PC, the system keeps rebooting BEFORE the installation program,

Tried with -v, -s, -x, vanilla,... and so on.. Nothing helps

Are there specific things that need to enabled/disabled in bios?

Grtz, and so many thanks.

Koen

Of course it must be Enhanced IDE.

The prob described happens WITH Enhanced IDE!

(PLAIN P5K)

ok i see , problems when u unrar large files , that's it ?

Strange , because i used the same AppleviaAta for the distro. i prefered this solution to the ioAta one because with this one(viaata) all sata are detected and the boot fastest. Ioata could be a good solution if we find the correct wrapping of the channels. but didn't find them.

How can i see in Mac or it is SSE3 or not?

I think i saw in XP with CPUZ that it was SSE2, but i'm not sure...

But i don't think this don't fix the problem?

 he reboots after loading all the Extensions and right before the setup screen.. :(

Tanx for your reaction!

I am having issues with my re-install of this on my system. I just received my SATA DVD last night so that I could do a proper installation of the Kaly disc, and I thought everything was running very good. However I encountered another kernel panic, and I would really appreciate it if anyone can comment on what I should do.

Here's a rundown of my most recent install: booted the Kaly DVD, hit F8, and fed the "-v vanilla" option to the bootloader. Inside the install, I re-partitioned my Leopard HD, 1 big partition, GUID. In the installation's custom options, I selected both kernel packages and the GUID bootloader only. Did not select sound, video or network as they didnt match my hardware. Install went on fine, finished, rebooted, got the multi-lingual welcome screen with sounds (via Logitech Z-10 USB speakers). I had to add the 2nd network adapter for my 2nd LAN port, worked fine. Installed the 10.5.2 nvidia 8800gts drivers that I found on here, as well as patched the AppleHDA with ALC888 info. After all that was done, I noticed the "About this Mac" screen showed my processor as "2.45 GHz unknown" and not "2.45 GHz Intel Core 2 Quad". I the more info section it showed 4 cores though. I installed a few more apps (Skype, Firefox, macam driver for webcam) and then on to Toast 8 Titanium. Ran the Tivo Transfer program it installed, and started to transfer a show from my Tivo, and got the wonderful kernel panic about 1.6GB into the file.

In the system.log I only was able to find this error:

Jan 2 20:39:13 kirbys-mac-pro kextd[10]: cannot resolve dependencies for kernel extension /System/Library/Extensions/AppleACPIPlatform.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleACPIThermal.kext

I searched on osx86forums and only found a reference to that kext in the BrazilMac version, with the suggestion to remove the following:

AppleFan.kext

AppleCPUThermal.kext

AppleThermal.kext

AppleACPIThermal.kext (This is a plugin found in the AppleACIPIPlatform.kext)

I've not done this yet, as I dont know if this is really the cause of my problems. I do know that my CPU was not overheating though. The kernel panic also seems to only occur under heavy net traffic. I let the system sit idle with screen saver going for several hours last night and it was fine. Web browsing was fine. But as soon as I initiate a long file transfer I get a kernel panic.

The only other weird entry in the system.log that I found was this:

Jan 2 20:39:30 kirbys-mac-pro com.apple.dyld[583]: update_dyld_shared_cache[583] regenerated cache for arch=ppc

Seemed odd about the arch=ppc part.

So any ideas? Just to rule out the Tivo Transfer app, I did initiate a transfer of a file from the Tivo's built in web page, which is just like any other web download, and the same kernel panics occur.
