Alright, so I followed your directions and it got rid of my blinking cursor problem, but now I get a b0 error. I think this is because the boot0 in the file in that thread is for GUID and I installed with MBR. Can anyone show me where to get a MBR boot0 file?

I've read the previous b0 error fixes that say to mark the partition as active, which I've done, and it doesn't help.

PS: The OS starts up fine when the install DVD is in the drive... just need to get it working without DVD

I have the same problem that you did and same question.

Hi,

I'm trying this on a Dell 1600s server with 2 Prescott Xeons.

I'm trying all the DVD boot options (-legacy,cpus=1,-r,-x,-s etc) and I cant get past this point.

Whats on the CPU scren reads:

EFI Enhanced Bios Bootloader Build ToH

Using SMBIOS Table found at 0x000faad0

Using HCP RSDP Revision 0 found at 0x000fdc40

at this point the system just hangs and I have to turn it off or do a hard reset to get it to boot again.

Ive been reading thru the lists here and Ive tried so many different ways to boot up with the DVD and get the same results

everytime where it hangs at the above message.

Any clues or tips or maybe someone knows for sure that it wont work on this particular system

Would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

@ Dune31, kaly:

Why cant SSE2 users boot up the installation cd? We get restart loops after the Darwin bootloader and all the kexts loads. We cant get into the installer itself. Is it beacause of the kernel? How can we fix this? Look here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=77858#

Hope you can help us SSE2 users..

Have you tried booting it in Safe Mode (-x)? There could be a driver/kext incompatibility. When I was trying to get it to work w/ a Radeon HD2600XT video card, I had to install in Safe Mode AND delete the ATIRadeonX2000 kexts afterward to get it to boot.

Did you try the -v option, or does it reboot before you can see what the last lines are?

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

And the first good news (primery for me, but maybe for other too) ist, that I have QE on my HP Pavilion with nVidia 8600M GS... So, just I can play all Quartz Extreme Apps and videos in fullscreen and DVD (at the first time)...

Now I only need to control my ALC286 Sound and that the headphone works... But, 2008 has just began... ^^

The kext/pkg is here to find...

HI dudes :(

I tried installating Kalyway version on my new PC (dual core 2 + 8800GT) on a usb external HD, the installation worked great, but when rebooting, I saw the "apple and the loadin' circle" until a message appeared telling me to reboot my computer ... Can someone try like me on a USB ext drive ? What are the correct parameters to choose in the installation menu ?

Thanks :)

Hi!

Currently I've big troubles getting Kalyway to work. First, my system specs:

Computer Model:

HP Pavilion a6220

CPU: 2x2Ghz Core2 Duo

Mobo: Asus P5L LE (G945 Chipset with onboard VGA)

Audio: Sigamtel HD Audio

DVD und HD are SATA

Intel Lan Controller

Radeon HD3850

At first, if i boot without vanilla kernel, my PS2 Keyboard isn't detected.

So I set SATA to ACHI mode and started the installation. I formated the HD in one big HFS+ partition (320 Gig) and installed kalyway with the requiered extensions. (ACPI fix, guid_efi etc.).

At the end, the installer says, that the installer couldn't finish and after the next boot, after darwin booted from DVD, I get the com.apple.boot.plist error.

Tried it now to install 3 times, everytime with the same error. Any suggestions?

Tried all known bootflags. Comp will reboot after loading kexts as shown.

I am using an sse2 cpu. I am sure that this release is compatible with sse2. i am having the same problem that you have with ToH release but kaly's release does not have that. it can be something in your BIOS.

btw, I have a pentium m (see sig.) but About this Mac says that it is a 1.5 ghz intel core solo.. About this mac crashes after install and I used paulicat's applesmbios.kext.. it might be related to that.

only problem now is making QE/CI work and get it recognized as AGP at the same time.

Happy New Year - and a Success Story.

I have successfully installed Kaly on my notebook (see signature for specs), single partition GUID.

A minor note however, it did not properly boot the first time after install. First time it told me we were running backwards. Rebooted again using -v and it booted. I rebooted again without -v and it worked. Somehow it seems that it repaired itself. Not sure about that since I'm not an expert.

I do get the "mouse tearing". I figure it has to do with the video driver (even though my 945GM was 950 compatible in Tiger). I had the same tearing in iATKOS.

Does anyone have thoughts on this?

Is SATA 500GB harddrive compatible?

My first install on my HP had a PS2 keyboard pluged in and all installed and worked fine, since then I changed to a USB keybaord. So I would say yes, PS2 keybaord supported.

Read the whole thread. this has been answered. You need a SATA DVD drive, or a USB drive.

I realized that and was using the IDE to USB adapter with my DVD ROM. I still got the same error. What does it actually mean when it says "com.apple.plist not found"

It didn't find my Leo DVD? Is that right?

Is the SATA 500GB compatible? (Just need to make sure this is not a problem)

Cheers

Andy
