mingistech Posted December 30, 2007 Share Posted December 30, 2007 does the other versions of 10.5.1 like iatkos and toh give problems including for example hanging on the beginning the grey apple screen? because they are the same problem i am having i went through several dvds and i have 5 coasters. i hope someone can tell us how to install from a seperate dvd from the booted one. This is the first 10.5.1 install disk i've downloaded. I was tryin to upgarde from 10.4.6 to 10.5.1 but the Kalyway disk kept rebooting my system... so, instead I ran the 10.4.8 Jas disk with no issues. Since I am upgrading from Tiger and have a home directory already, I got a screen where it prompts me to login but my login doesn't seem like it is working. Any clue? thanks~! I have tried PS/2 and USB keyboards and nothing seems to work. Did not have this problem with 10.4.8. Just hoping someone had a fix. Is the kalyway version of leopard the full blown 64bit version of Leopard (like the ones you would get on a new iMac) or is it just a stripped down 32bit version like the AMD users are using? Is anything missing from the Kalyway version at all?... Also trying to setup my own kick ass rig got Q6600, Asus P5K (PI35), 4GB DDR2 800MHz, Geforce 8800GT (512MB) ,2x 500GB WD's all on order at the moment. Just needed to ask any experienced hackers like yourselves: I need this to at least match the performance of the top of the range iMac (2.8ghz extreme edition version) will my new setup do that ok? i.e; speed, power, response times, no lagging etc? As I said, would be perfect if it was identical, if not better than the aforementioned iMac 24". And with the 8800GT 512mb, can i hook up 2x 19" monitors to my new "ihac"?... Is it actually possible to install Leopard on a Dell Optiplex 270?... My spare one struggles with Vista! It's a socket 478 P4 2.8GHz Prescott I think, which shouldnt work on OS X, should it? I thought the criteria was a Core2X or at least a Dual Core Pentium D processor? Everything is stock i.e; motherboard, graphics card has been changed to a Geforce 6200. I don't know if this is the right place to post my question, but since it is dealing with the latest OS X, I thought I should place here. My question is this, will this "build" support the current hardware out there? Specifically the X38/X48 chipsets, ATI HD2900XT video cards, and the quad-core CPUs? I didn't give you specific motherboard/cpu models because I'm waiting for the 1600Mhz FSB chips to be release to build my PC... hope I can still get some sort of idea as whether it can be done on that tye of setup. I tried every extracting-software I could find for Windows and Mac, I downloaded the files twice, but still I only get an error by extracting... I´m talking about the torrents that are avaible at tpb/isoh. (the "original" one and the second upload from a week ago -- both won´t extract...) Is there anything I missed? I saw that some people had the same problem, but I didn´t find a solution that worked for me... Where could I get another version (I didn´t find the iso.file 4.3Gb, only the damn zipped one), could any of you upload a new torrent (I don´t have access to the usenet)? I can't even get to the installer.... it's always the Darwin Boot Loader.... and when I do a -v I get the same but with all the text showing whats loading.... I can't even get to the installer.... it's always the Darwin Boot Loader.... and when I do a -v I get the same but with all the text showing whats loading.... This is the first time i've had hackintosh install problems on this system. And info wouold be much appreicated. Same here. Kalyway just restarts my system in a loop (Darwin/x86 boot loader), i cant get into the installer. I think its the kernel having problems with SSE2. Any ideas on how to make it properly start? I used -v before booting and it shows that my systems restarts after all the kexts are loaded and when the 2nd screen is about to load (the one with the different text and displays strings about the mac hardware and stuff). Is the kalyway version of leopard the full blown 64bit version of Leopard (like the ones you would get on a new iMac) or is it just a stripped down 32bit version like the AMD users are using? Is anything missing from the Kalyway version at all?... Also trying to setup my own kick ass rig got Q6600, Asus P5K (PI35), 4GB DDR2 800MHz, Geforce 8800GT (512MB) ,2x 500GB WD's all on order at the moment. Just needed to ask any experienced hackers like yourselves: I need this to at least match the performance of the top of the range iMac (2.8ghz extreme edition version) will my new setup do that ok? i.e; speed, power, response times, no lagging etc? As I said, would be perfect if it was identical, if not better than the aforementioned iMac 24". And with the 8800GT 512mb, can i hook up 2x 19" monitors to my new "ihac"?... Is it actually possible to install Leopard on a Dell Optiplex 270?... My spare one struggles with Vista! It's a socket 478 P4 2.8GHz Prescott I think, which shouldnt work on OS X, should it? I thought the criteria was a Core2X or at least a Dual Core Pentium D processor? Everything is stock i.e; motherboard, graphics card has been changed to a Geforce 6200. But ull still have to fix up graphics and sound. as for your dell, P4 does run OS X, thats why there are patched kernels for SSE2 and SSE3. docd Posted December 30, 2007 Share Posted December 30, 2007 Hi there, don't know if this has been covered here already, but for the ppl who have a blinking cursor after flat installation (the bootloader doesn't come up even though the correct efi ist installed, in my case mbr) i found a solution. it seems that the script for setting the active partition has problems if the partition it's installed on has two or more words in it: for instance if your disk is named "My Mac" try erasing the partition and rename it to something like "MacOS" so it consists of one word. after that try reinstalling. after the reboot the bootloader should come up. so long guys Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The install goes to almost the end and then after about 1 min left just sits there. Eventually even the animation on the progress bar stops. When I move the mouse the progress bar jumps to take up about half the space thats left but then thats it. I even let it sit overnight. Anyone have a clue whats wrong? Or to be honest at this point.
