@amnestythat is a kick ass rig  got virtually the same setup myself currently on order. just wanted to ask an experienced hacker like yourself, i need this to at least match the performance of the top of the range iMac (2.8ghz extreme edition version) will our setups do that ok? ie speed, power, response times, no lagging etc? as I said, would be perfect if it was identical, if not better than the aforementioned iMac 24". The only difference in our rigs is im getting the 8800gt 512mb, would that be a problem? can i hook up my new "ihac" to 2 19" monitors?...

@kaly or anyone really?...is the kalyway version of leopard the full blown 64bit version of Leopard (like the ones you would get on a new mac) or is it just a stripped down 32bit version like the AMD users are using?...Would really appreciate any help & answers guys! After all where else you gonna find a chance to pick the brains of all the experts in one place... lol!

@kicka911WOW!!! You actually managed to get Leopard to run on a Dell Optiplex 270?... My spare one struggles with Vista! It's a socket 478 P4 2.8GHz Prescott I think, which should work on OS X should it? I thought the criteria was a Core 2 X or at least a Dual Core Pentium? Have you modded it at all? Ie motherboard, what graphics card etc...Cheers mate, would appreciate any info you can shed on this :D

I try booting the dvd using "Vanilla" command and it fails to boot, but if I dont type in anything im presenting the dvd install like normal, I take it my hardware wont work with the vanilla kernal so what can I do? Can I just choose not to install but what gets installed instead

I still have this problem.

I installed this, first time as GUID or w/e and with the vanilla kernels and it was on constant reboot without the DVD in, but with the DVD in it said "/com.apple.Boot.plist not found". . Second time, same but MBR and it was on constant reboot without the DVD in, but with the DVD in it said "/com.apple.Boot.plist not found". Third time I installed it as GUID without the vanilla kernels and then after installation it boots too the Apple screen, but then it says to reboot your computer. Now what do I do?

Well no one was able to answer my last question about kalyway leopard release. Perhaps someone can shed some light on this.

When you install kalyway you have added to every folder two little apps that allow you to see hidden files/folders on the fly by clicking on the invisible/visible icon. Finder is relaunched and folder returns with hidden files now showing.

This program is called change finder. I found this app online at the programers site installed it but it DOES NOT act like kalyways so I grabbed his right from this disc still no dice. Kalyway has found a way to force the finder to relaunch once the files/folders are shown. NORMALLY this does not occur and you must navigate to the folder again. I have ripped kalyways disc apart and looked at everything I can think of. I have no idea how he got finder to remember the open folder. As an added bonus the finder also remembers what folders you have open when you shutdown the computer. This is something I have had turned on in windows for years and would love to have this on the mac end.

I have installed leopard more times then I can count and this behavior that kalyway has on his disc is NOT NORMAL. SO CAN ANYONE SHED SOME LIGHT ON HOW HE DID THIS?

OR CAN ONLY THE GREAT KALYWAY HIMSELF BRING THIS SECRET TO LIGHT? Ive already PM'ed him days ago and no response so far.

This is my 88th post and the 880th post in the topic hope that brings me some luck LOL

I like what I have read about your 10.5.1, especially what you have done with GUID and EFI. If we are ever to get rid of MBR then GUID/EFI both need to be easy to install and to use. Unfortunatly your "official" version seems to be Intel only and as much as I really want to try it out I dislike Intel almost as much as I dislike Microsoft.

So I want to ask, is there going to be an AMD release? :(

If so is there an approximate ETA?

Thanx

This release works great on my machine.

Here is my config:

- Asus P5K Premium

- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3,02 GHz

- 3GB DDRII-667

- nVidia 8800GTS 320MB

- Samsung HD160JJ S-ATAII HDD

- LG Multi DVD RW (connected via S-ATA by IDE-to-SATA converter)

And finally I have to say, that everything (besides GFX and the Marvell NIC; WiFi is unused) just works OUT OF THE BOX. I never had this with all the other releases (e.g. ToH, BrazilMac, JaS)

Just added the 8800GTS driver package und everything works fine.

After installation I connected my HDD to the JMicron controller via eSATA (to connect my other 6 HDD's ;-) )und it still works

can you do a xbench test? we have almost the same hardware (mobo+cpu)

xbench is installed with kalyway's dvd in applications

do the test without the disk (uncheck it)

When i run geekbench it shows model hackintosh? but in system profiler it says mac pro?

haha! maybe geekbench is not made by apple, but by geeks of an independent nature, and upon finding your rather non apple hardware flips over into a setting for hackintosh (ie: rather unidentified functioning object ! ;)

This is my first attempt at a hackintosh so if this is a noob question I'm sorry. I'm starting with an empty drive set up in GUID mode. The installer goes through and finishes fine. The system then reboots and I get /com.apple.Boot.plist not found error. What am I missing? Thanks

I restarted when I got that error, then pressed F8 when prompted, then did a "-v" and pressed Enter. After that, the installer ran as expected.

GA-P35-DS3L , Kalyway Leo. Everything works. 7600gt vid, 3 Seagate SATA 3.0 HD's, SATA DVD burner and IDE DVD burner, optical sound output, triple boot Leo, XP, Vista 1 OS on each HD. I might get a MAC keyboard just for the fun of it. My hats off to Kalyway for the great release!!!!

Kaly is working really great on my main System.

Just plugged in the DVD to an HP ZD7000 Laptop. It restarts after loading all the stuff. The Message disapears really fast. Something about the smbios and acpi.

iAtkos will boot to a graphical installer. Any idea?

Can't change anything in Bios :-(

pity though, with a previously tested 10.4.7 jas that worked.

well, could be a kext problem... how does one fix something like that?

and any idea about the realtek 8101L lan? theoretically it should work, but it doesn't.

hi. i have the same mobo as you. about this mac crashes for me as well. power off doesn't work properly as well. i solved network problem with the realtek patch, i enclose.

my spec are: core2duo, asrock conroe 865pe, nvidia 7900 gs. using vanilla kernel. everything works except about this mac and power off.

Here to report a (mostly) success story...

Installed on a Intel D945GNT with a P4 3.0.

Booted and installed fine (after partitioning drive in Disk Utility).

GUID install DID NOT boot, redid partitions with MBR... strangely, it didn't let me partition into two partitions in MBR (I think the partitions were too large... I have a 1TB drive)... so I have 3 partitions.

AHCI works fine...

Applied no hacks, but used AppleHDAPatcher_v1.16.app with codec_Sigma9220 to hack the audio driver -- audio out working fine (just like Tiger).

Oh and amazingly, sleep works! Did not work in Tiger, ever for me.

I have one remaining issue (that I didn't have in Tiger)... mouse tearing around text input boxes. Using the onboard Intel GMA 950 graphics, and it's not bad in pretty much all the standard apps, but makes apps like Thunderbird extremely annoying to use.

Hoping Kalyway or someone else can help fix the mouse tearing issue, but otherwise a fantastic release.

Actually, I know this isn't a poll or anything, but I think in the next version, you should let us choose to install your "flavor" (apps, addons, etc) -- I prefer a "virgin" install.

Omg! ;)

I have finally succeded to install this dvd after almost giving up on it.

To install it, i used a external USB drive. I partitioned it to 1 MBR partition, and then i erased it with zeros.

After that, i only selected MBR Boot Efi, and nothing else in customize just to try it.

Another thing i noticed, when i have it in AHCI mode, it does not want to boot to an external drive at all, even if i see the drive in BIOS.

I have no idea why it is like this.

So, i did try to do something different in BIOS this time. As i do have a perfect Tiger on the first internal drive, i selected RAID mode this time.

This way it actually worked and booted the external usb drive. After setting up Leopard, i changed to IDE mode in BIOS, and even that worked fine, but it didn´t before with the Tiger installs.

One thing i don´t like even though i have success, is that like in iATKOS, to much graphics have been altered and personalized here.

Why are you doing this?

If someone wants to alter their own install, fine, but please keep it like original next time.

Some of us actually like it original and want it that way. ;)

Another thing i don´t like is that my comp is now a windtunnel after installing the Nvidia driver and Inject. In Tiger i don´t have this issue even though i have full support of my graphicscard.

Why is this happening in Leopard?

Now is just wish i could be without the windtunnel effect.

Anybody else here with a NVidia Geforce 7900 GS TOP behaving like it wants to take off? :)

Motherboard: Intel DP35DP Media Board

CPU: Intel Core2Quad 2.67Ghz

GFX: Asus NVidia Geforce 7900 GS TOP

Memory: 4GB 800Mhz DDR2 SDRAM

are you sure this is the jmicron ready build?

i just burned the image downloaded from the newsgroups and it boots for a little while then restarts and loops.

same for the -v and -x options i could see a bunch of extensions flash by then it reboots and starts over.

256meg ddr ram pentium 4 cpu from 2000/2001 intel desktop board motherboard 2000/2001 agp ati rage pro vga card.

odd thing is the uphuck 10.4.9 dvd booted ok.

is there a way to have 2 dvd drives and boot from 1 dvd and then cd into the installer of the other and launch the installer.

basically boot 10.4.9 and install 10.5.1 from the 10.4.9's session?

I'm having the exact same issue as you.

I'm running 10.4.8 on my Dell and have been tryin to install Kalyway 10.5.1 for days now. It boots... says it's loading... then restarts the system again and loops. I'm so used to the Jas installs with no issues like this i'm not quite sure what to do.

I'm installing on a 2.0Ghz Dell Optiplex 260 512MB RAM w/ Geforce 5200 Gfx Card.

Any info would be much appreicated.... thanks.
