who said that ? . Kaly works with AHCI. what is your Sata controller ?

Ok looking in device manager under IDE/ATA controllers I have

Intel® 82801FB/FBM Ultra ATA Storage Controllers-266F (This must be the hard drive) In System Profiler of DVD it shows my Hard drive as Unindentified ACHI controller with the size of my hard drive and info.

Intel® 82801FBM SATA ACHI Controller--(this must be the dvd rom)

Primary IDE Channel

Its a gateway cx2620 tablet laptop pc. I dont seem to have any options in Bios to change. All I have is Disk acess mode: DOS or Other. Tried both and nothing.

As per Kaly specs below:is this mean that GMA950 is supported out of the box without any patch at all?
yes, thats right, I have the same experience
is your firewire is enabled into your bios conf ?
There is nothing to enable cause P5B-Board has no onboard-firewire. I use a pci-firewire-card, wich works well under 10.4.9Is there any driver package from apple? I found nothing that works. Any idea?

well, it appears that on some mobo GMA950 doesn't need to be patched at all, but on others it does. Kaly's mobo does not need.for compatibility reason we integrated the patched version on the dvd(AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer). but you can find the original AppleIntelIntegratedFrameBuffer on the Backup Drawer at the root of your systemDisk. If you have a GMA950 chipset on your mobo, you can try this one, but caution, your system could hang at the reboot if your GMA950 does not support the original kext.

ok, did you try to change the location of your pci firewire card ?

ok it seems that is is an ICH6 and effectively i did not integrate ICH6 AHCI on the dvd, mea culpa , just did the sata enhanced ide for it. but the fact that the system profiler saw it in unknow would say it is loaded by the generic AHCI driver of the system. So the diskutility should see it . I don't understand why it failed

Yeh I don't know why system profiler sees it but Disk Utility only sees the Dvd Rom drive. This has happened to the other Kaly Tiger release as well. Maybe a ppf patch or something? I tried to even tried going in the terminal and I can see the hard drive there but I can not partition it, says no permission. Is there a way to get to the hard drive using terminal, make partition and activate it so that it shows in Diskutility?

hey there guys.. i've tried iATKOS which did not even boot from the dvd drive

then, it was kaly's mac..

i've installed it , all went fine, until it was finished (the installation). it showed me that big green check that the installation was ok, and i pressed the reboot button

the system restarted, BUT, after it would get out of the bios start-up image, a underline won't go away, and the hard-disk light in my case stayed on.

i left my pc for 20 mins to do this {censored} ,after i reinstalled leo. i tried the vanilla kernel with and without the sse2 kext, and i also tried the original kernel with and without the sse2 kext

what can i do ?

note: now i'm posting from uphuck's 10.4.9 tiger

p.s:here's my config

mb: asus p5vd2-x

cpu: intel pentium d 805 2.66 ghz

video: foxconn 7600gt 256 mb

ram: 2 gb ddr2 533 mhz NOT RUNNING DUAL-CHANNEL

screen: 19" sony wide

hdd 160 gb on ata133 dvd-rw dl asus on ata100

I can say that I'm see the same thing as macimesser... my firewire is enabled but its not showing up in Leopard. I didn't post anything because that's always been a problem for me in Leopard and earlier OS X versions (firewire works fine when booting to Windows on the same machine). I bought a cheap Firewire/USB PCI card which is detected by MacOS... its just that the built-in Firewire is not.

See post 469 for blinking cursor problems.

when i see your conf , you don't need at all SSE2. Vanilla could not run on your conf not because of the mobo but cos of the Pentium D.

So under installation do not check Vanilla,SSE2. choose only your needed drivers(NATIT_nvidia, maybe ALC883) and EFI depending on the table partition choice(GUID or MBR) you did with Diskutility.

I do not see your processor model, so i can not answer to you. Pentium , core ? So if your processor is from core family you can install vanilla. If it is a Pentium, you cannot. If it is a celeron M family(the last ones from intel) you can.
Dear Dune,I posted a reply to your suggestions earlier today, including a screen shot just before the spontaneous reboot after the initial Darwin loads from the DVD. Any further suggestions, or should I give up on trying with the Gateway 600x notebook system?Merry Christmas.
hum did you try also -x at boot or -r ?

Ok, I'm begging you guys.

Can someone tell me if there's any solution to the /com.apple.boot.plist not found error when trying to boot the installation DVD, meaning the initial boot, and not after installation?

EDIT: I am using a USB DVD drive, and I don't believe my mobo has the JMicron controller, as I have a P4 on 478 socket mobo.

Srsly? Can someone just please address this, even if it is that there is no answer?

Hi all

so I try Kalyway with guid partition and with MBRpartition With efi (selecting the right one in seetings) I seleceted both vanilla kernel option (like written in the disclaimer) and azalia audio.

I partitioned with diskutil 2 partition on a SATA drive (you can see my HW down).

Well

when i reboot i can choose the partition from where to boot and after selected the right one the system reboot.

Any idea???

P.S.

What does it mean sleep kernel? Finallly sleep mode will work on my conroe1333???

Hi I got a problemI intsalled kally on my existing 10.4.9 with vanilla kernel It keeps reboot on loading apple window I tried -x but it didn't workMy machine configurations areSSE3 P4 3.0 GHz HT1250 Mb ramATI600 radeonAny idea ? :)
Do not use please vanilla with other cpu than core family. For your system, in the install , check only the drivers you need and EFi but no vanilla and no sse2.

yes , you do not have "execute disable bit" enabled in your bios cpu configuration. This feature is also called NX(No Execute). so have a look on your bios and look for this feature and enable it.

Try running the Kalyway install, when you partition it, choose MBR in the options menu, then choose customize the install, and make sure only MBR is selected, nothing else. That is what finally worked on my Dell Optiplex.

2 main issues with kaly now:

1 - my 2nd 750GB SATA WD HDD is partitioned as GUID & system sees it as a removeable drive - somewhat annoying.

2 - even worse - can't seem to get my ALC-888 sound to work - it was working on Tiger, but it seems the method I used

to enable it on Tiger (editing AppleAzaliaAudio.kext) no longer works on Leo. Thanks alot Apple!

Ok here goes my latest attempt. I partioned using GUID my Mobo doesnt have any IDE choices so can't do the BIOS setup llike the images here.

This time I chose both vanillas,

NATIT_ATIcards (just to try) have onboard 64meg.

Can't remember which sound driver.

and

BOOT_efi_guid

I hope this works this time........NOPE NOT THAT TIME. I did save the error log and systems info I will post in a bit maybe someone has a clue as to wtf is going on.

hey Dune,

i swapped the ide dvd for a sata dvd.

i can now boot the installer nativly,

i can start install. but every install at the end it stops and says it cannot be completed (im using a single dedicated disk for osx)

accompanied by a yellow exclamation mark , do you have any clue what could be the issue ?

Hardware :

Asus P5K (Intel P35/Intel ICH9)

X1950Pro PCI-E

Intel C2D E6300

i tried various installs

EFI / MBR

Vanilla (incl fix) / not

Snd driver / no sound driver

x19x0 drivers / no x19x0 drivers

no matter what , the install keeps crashing

edit seems like its running through now

ow btw, when you have a core2duo cpu like i do, do i have to check sse2 in the installer ?
