I tend to say "O-S-X" just because that's how i first started pronouncing it.

Although i know that it aught to be "O-S-TEN", i never remember to say it that way.

It really doesn't matter that much, if people judge you by how you pronounce the name of an OS then they aren't really worth speaking to.

It's like people who will decide that you are technically ignorant if you say "Linux" instead of "GNU Linux".

Politically it's "Mac OS Ten", but when I was very young I was all "MAC OS EX! MAC OS EX!"

If I really am reading something that mentions "Mac OS X" I'll probably say "Mac OS Ten" in my mind, but if I'm just hackintoshing a computer and reading onscreen instructions, I'll say "Mac OS Ex".

I basically just randomly switch back and fourth. Lol. When my dad attended WWDC 2003, he told me then it was actually OS Ten. (Yeah. I remember it from age 6. Lol.)

Even though I know What the X means in OS X,I used to call it mainly OSX..Until one day a friend pointed out it kinda sounded like all i am saying is O-a-sex whilst talking.Though Still I call it whatever that comes to mind at the time OS X,OS 10 or just Mac OS. Try to avoid saying O-a-sex.lol :angel_not:

The Final answer! Fire up Textedit, type 'os x' and choose 'Start Speaking' from the menu Edit|Speech.

When you mac talks, it says OS TEN, even though there is a space between OS and X.

:)

Creepy as hell. If you write OS MMXIII it says "OS two thousand and thirteen"!

It looks like they went through the trouble of hardcoding it to speak the number when any roman numerals are preceeded by "OS".

If you write MMXIII by itself it speaks the letters one by one.

btw I still say "Mac OS".

interesting about the hard code to recognize roman numerals after OS...

I say OS 'ex'... mostly because I am a lazy speaker and ex is easier to say than TEN. Yeah, I know... I'm that lazy.

Alessandro17, on V March MMXIII - V:XLVII AM, said

Virtually no Italian would ever read a X as a ten.

now THAT is ironic!

... and yes I converted your timestamp into Roman Numerals
