karaakeha1
The office 12.1.5 Problem is intresting. Do you have a blacklisted key? I think if you allow office to go through little snitch and Microsoft detects a blacklisted key it will block the application to start.Same here when my little snitch stopped some time ago. Had to reinstall with another key and then it worked again... Thanks Derpuma I changed the key by deleting these two files • /Users/[username]/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008/Microsoft Office 2008 settings.plist • /Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Office/OfficePID.plist Office 2008 12.1.5 now working
William Parker
Hello Everyone Maybe off-topic but wouldn't it be great if Kraakeha1 updated his fantastic guide to include the new 10.5.6 update. The DSDT part is as confusing as rocket-science. In spite of errors you patch DSDT if you use PCWIZ's GUI patcher so there's no way to get in to first correct the problems reported while compiling the DSDT.aml. Others lead me to believe this DSDT is necessary. I did it and left the dreaded AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext in place and still got a KP. Removed it and got to boot but two errors in dmesg. 1. HPET: probeHPET () failed .......... 2. ACPI SMC platform plugin timeout because that sexy AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext isn't there. Can you beat that. So I wiped the install clean and just ignored what others say and treat 10.5.6 as other updates Kraakeha's way. Base install off retail 10.5.4 DVD update to 10.5.5 and then to 10.5.6. At each update I used the script to keep the pesky AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext away. Thing works like a charm. BUT it still complains about the ACPI SMC platform plugin timeout. Guess we do need the pesky kext. Now the DSDT patched allows AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext to load in 10.5.5 but CPU is 10 degrees centigrade hotter. So I got courage to try the same in 10.5.6 but got KP. So's the scene. Guys Help. Please Thanks
karaakeha1
So far 10.5.5 is perfect 10.5.6 has some issues like fails to wake up from sleep guide would be updated only after sleep issue is solved
derpuma
I would appreciate an update too, but I have also time to wait until all issues are fixable! So take a deep breath an relax. I thinkl there will be solutions for all new little Porbs right now. I have the same issue "reebot after wake up"... So better a perfect 10.5.5 than a unstable or not 100% working 10.5.
peach-os
I have the P35DS4 with soft RAID of 3 hard disks... Intalled dsdt and new chameleon boot file...rebooted with out problems. So I thought that I can install 10.5.6, BIG Mistake... 10.5.6 install to 56%, then came half transparency screen which means system hang and requires hard reset. After that only work with "-x" and "-s".... So took out the reserve HD which has 10.5.4, booted with that and use Pacifist to install on to the RAID, checked that /Extra has AppleDecrypt.kext and Disabler.kext...removed AppleIntelCPU... kext file from the RAID... rebooted with the RAID, the system trying to boot then HDs of the RAID seems to gone to sleep after working hard for 3 mins :-) And it like that if I used -x og let it boot with default... Any suggestions on how to get the system to boot from RAID again ?! how did you install the dsdt patch? with the GUI? if you did it manually, did you install the dsdt only on root of the raid? VN Man
how did you install the dsdt patch? with the GUI? if you did it manually, did you install the dsdt only on root of the raid? Installed on "Boot OS X" partition i.e. diskXSY...
peach-os
Installed on "Boot OS X" partition i.e. diskXSY... I´m wondering, because your problem looks like one of those who didn´t apply AppleIntelCpuPowerManagment.kext before updating. did you test if the dsdt patch is working before the update? I mean did you remove disabler kexts and could you initialize AppleIntelCpuPowerManagment.kext before the update?

Thanks for your help so far :-) I will try again after Clone Copy from my reserved disk.... just to make it clear - this procedure is obvious to make sure that your dsdt patch is working. otherwise you will have the AppleIntelCpu problem when updating. in this case it´s not disabled and the dsdt is not working.result: you know it to everybody using dsdt: it´s not enough only to apply dsdt - you have to test if it´s really working ! William Parker
Hi all I did do DSDT patch in 10.5.5 retail and used sudo kextload to load AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. Success. I saw temp. of CPU cores rise 10 deg. C. Updated to 10.5.6. But got kernel panic. Removed AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext and got 2 new errors I mentioned in earlier post. I think my board does not support HPET and the DSDT does not seem to do a good job of patching this part. Guess we'll have to wait.
egray
10.5.6 perfect here: Intel BadAxe2 board, q6600 quad overclocked to 3.31GHz. Originally Kalyway 10.5.2, updated to Kalyway 10.5.3 and then with software update to 10.5.5. Latest update procedure: installed Bootloader PC EFI v9/aka Chameleon; then DSDT patcher; installed the IntelCPUPMDisabler.kext; rebooted to see all still OK; installed 10.5.6 update from delta .dmg file; rebooted; Time Machine & Audio broken; fixed Time Machine with UInstaller_1.2 Ethernet patch; fixed audio as before with AppleHDAPatcher_v1.16. CPU shows as 4GHz in System Profiler, instead of 2.4. No other apparent oddities. Fusion, Pro Tools 7, Digital Performer 6, Sibelius 5, Office 2004, Final Cut Express, Photoshop Elements 6, and all other apps work as expected. derpuma
Hey can someone give me or link me to the new "boot" file to use chameleon method again under 10.5.6. I wanne try it at home this weekend! Would be nice... By the way, is it possible to directly install chameleon with the replaxed boot from EfiV9??? Copy Chameleon Files to the news cloned RAID Array. Replace boot from EFIV9. Change boot-uuid to boot from raid. Than install Chameleon with the replaced boot from EFIV9 this way: fdisk -f boot0 -u -y /dev/rdisk0 fdisk -f boot0 -u -y /dev/rdisk1 fdisk -f boot0 -u -y /dev/rdisk2 dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdisk0s3 dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdisk1s3 dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdisk2s3 diskutil mount disk0s3 cp boot /Volumes/Boot\ OSX diskutil unmount disk0s3 diskutil mount disk1s3 cp boot /Volumes/Boot\ OSX diskutil unmount disk1s3 diskutil mount disk2s3 cp boot /Volumes/Boot\ OSX diskutil unmount disk2s3 BR, derpuma
karaakeha1
Install Leopard Retail as usual than update to 10.5.6 combo update as per guide Use Chameleon attached latest kexts for 10.5.6 Hard_Drive_kexts_10.5.6.zip
wmarsh
Can anyone verify if the 10.5.6 kext package can read 2nd SATA Disk? The reason is I have been unsuccessfully trying to update my hack, which I boot from 2nd HDD. However, when I made an install on my USB HDD, I was able to upgrade to 10.5.6. And when I installed modified AppleAHCIPort.kext, I could read my 1st HDD (Vista) but not my 2nd HDD (which is where I am trying to ungrade). Barcode
Install Leopard Retail as usual than update to 10.5.6 combo update as per guide Use Chameleon attached latest kexts for 10.5.6 Hi Karaakeha1 -- 2 questions please about your 10.5.6 update: the "10.5.6 kext package" doesn't include four kexts that were in the "Kexts & post patch 10.5.5" package: AppleACPIPlatfrom.kext, AppleSMBIOS.kext, IOATAFamily.kext and JMicronATA.kext -- are they not needed with 10.5.6? with 10.5.5, I also use HDAEnabler.kext; do I need to keep using that? I also wonder if I could just apply 10.5.6 to my existing 10.5.5 install, or must I start over? Thank you.
William Parker
Hello Kraakeha Still no word on why booting 10.5.6 ACPI_SMC plugin asks for AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext? On some instances it delays the boot by quite a few seconds. I went back to 10.5.5 as it was zippier, especially Time Machine which hiccups in 10.5.6. I was waiting for your insight into all this before making a second attempt at 10.5.6. Thanks

Now you can even install EFI on destination Drive by this Hi, sorry for the question, but I don´t understand this explanation. I have a running 10.5.5 installation with cameleon boot loader. Now, I want to update to 10.5.6 and get the best out of my hardware (support) with the newest kexts. DSDT thing is already done, although not needed for 10.5.6. What exactly (which files, which steps) do i need after the update? I have the GA-P35-DS4. Thanks for support, Chris
VN Man
After failed attempt with latest Chameleon .12 version with the RAID that I had before...I cloned from my existing single 10.5.5, installed the .11 version of Chameleon to the RAID ("Boot OS X"), changed the com.Boot.apple.plist with the RAID ID as per the guide (I had the RAID worked before the 10.5.6 update as said)... With the new instructions here for 10.5.6 I used Pacifist and install 10.5.6 on the RAID, ran 10.5.5 patch, then replaced with the "Latest 10.5.6 kext"... Rebooted with the RAID, now it complains that "AHCI port is not in the same super class...." and got "Waiting for root device".... 23 Dec. Actually it complains about "com.apple.iokit.IOAHCIBlockStorage"
Ianxxx
So far 10.5.5 is perfect 10.5.6 has some issues like fails to wake up from sleep guide would be updated only after sleep issue is solved I've had a few issues with 10.5.6 Wake from sleep was fine ga-p35-ds3l But Bluetooth wasn't working had to replace 2 kexts from 10.5.5 also energy saver/schedule when I tell the computer to shutdown it now reboots. (Not sure how to fix that yet) quick update seems to be a problem with chameleon v1.0.12 went back to 1.0.11 without dsdt and works fine On a different system after waking from sleep usb mouse goes crazy (haven't fixed but guessing its going to be a case of using usb kexts from 10.5.5)

derpuma
@imaya I think you need a patched Kernel and Vanilla 9.5.0 is not working for you. Try the 9.4.0 Kernel from the ideneb package or any other Kernel! I think this will solve your panic Problem! BR, derpuma Edit: Oh I see your on snow! No Idea which Kernel will do it for Snow Leo Preview... But I think your Prob is the uncompatible Kernel...
