bigpoppa206
Can somebody please clarify this step? What and where is the "post patch" and how is it applied? Inside of EFI_v8.zip there should be a script file that you run from the terminal called post-patch.sh. Really, to be safe and please don;t take this the wrong way, but you need to read the very first post of this thread again, it's all explained right there and will save you from making costly mistakes. Good luck! PS: if that archive doesn't contain that file, then GET THIS ONE.

I have the first post printed out and continue to study it (but the English and organization is a little rough). Am I correct in thinking that the "post-patch.sh" script is only needed for retail installs? (I am trying to install JaS 10.5.4 on a RAID 0 array). bofors
After unmounting Raid set for running the commands 'dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdiskXsY'I can't mount the 2 Raid members partition so I can't add 'boot' file to both Boot OSX. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong, but I do not think you are suppose to unmount anything to run the 'dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdiskXsY' command. Here 'rdiskXsY' refers to the unmounted "helper" partition that OS X generates at the end of each RAID disk

It appears to me that your disk is not burnt correctly -- or you don't have the bios options set properly to boot from cdrom. your system is trying to boot from the harddisk and there is no os so the bootloader tells you ntldr is missing. So a) make sure boot options let the sytem boot from cdrom dvd is burnt as an iso image .. if you just copied files to a dvd .. it won't be bootable if you were running 10.5.2 .. i figure you should know this much

the_gael
here you go Karaakeha1 - thanks for your help but I think maybe I will not be able to get this working correctly until I find drivers for my ATi Radeon X1950 Pro (7280). When I complete install I cannot boot into 10.5.5 unless I use safe mode - I tried installing Bronya's Ati 1950 Pro drivers for 10.5.3 but they make the installation freeze! I am guessing I will need a new driver for 10.5.
Emilo
Tried both 10.5.4 & 10.5.5 installs in following order: 1. Installed EFI with Chameleon 2. Installed Leopard and 10.5.4 (10.5.5) combo update 3. Applied post-patch (for my ATI 3870 used Natit.kext) Everything works in both 10.5.4 & 10.5.5 installs except Sleep & Shutdown. Sleep is not important but Shutdown is. Tested under all Bios versions and used PowerOff bug fix as well. I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Emilo
Have you installed CHUD.PKG , without it power fix won't work. Mine 10.5.5 Sleep, shutdown working fine Thank you karaakeha1. I did not know that CHUD.PKG must be installed first. At the moment trying fresh install on my friend's GA-P35-DS4/v2.1/F13 and Q9550 processor. 1. Installed Chameleon. 2. Installed Retail Leopard and then 10.5.5 Combo Update. 3. Applied your Post Patch for 10.5.5 and Natit.kext for ATI3870. - Booted and tested everything. Sleep, Shutdown and Time Machine did not work so, 4. Installed CHUD.PKG 5. Fixed Time Machine with IONetworkingFamily Fix. - Rebooted and tested everything. Sleep and Time Machine works now. - Switched to 1 processor in CHUD menu before turning off but still unable to Shut Down (Kernel panic) 6. Installed PowerOff bug fix. No luck. Shut Down does not work. 7. Tried to remove Extensions.mkext from System/Library but it keeps reappearing after couple of seconds. *How to permanently remove it or turn it off? I do not know what else to try. I have noticed that you have the same GA-P35-DS4 board. Am I doing install in proper order? Will it make any difference if I use Chameleon after post-patch? Please help.

Should be easy enough provided you install the EFI or Chameleon boot loader to the external along with the needed .kext to boot on a PC making sure to delete the problematic ones. Once you have boot on the PC there should be no need to do the install again just open diskutil and do a partition of PC drive then restore of external partition to internal installing the boot loader again on the internal and it should boot right up.
