What ram would be recommended to OC more/ still stable? Every chip is different - some are "duds" when it comes to overclocking and some are stellar. I've heard of people getting 3.4ghz with the Q6600 on water-cooling. From what I've read, quality RAM with good timings is the best for overclocking. However, I use the cheapo stuff with a big fat heatsink/fan on my processor and I've gotten to 3.3ghz, so who knows. I'm not an overclocking guru (yet haha) so I can't give you too much advice here. My advice would be to use google and do research on this particular board/chip plus ram combination. Check out the Xtreme Systems forums for lots of info about overclocking. Usually the better the RAM timings and the faster the RAM, the better results you get.
Italia64
mls64, yes - you are running a Vanilla Kernel! For comparison, here's yours: Darwin Kernel Version 9.1.0: Wed Oct 31 17:46:22 PDT 2007; root:xnu-1228.0.2~1/RELEASE_I386 i386 Here's off my friend's iMac: Darwin Kernel Version 9.1.0: Wed Oct 31 17:46:22 PDT 2007; root:xnu-1228.0.2~1/RELEASE_I386 i386 Looks good to me As long as it says "Darwin Kernel" then you're all set! The acid test is Apple Updates - if you can download updates directly from Apple then you are using a Vanilla Kernel! That's interesting. I wonder why Geekbench shows the machine type as Hackint0sh. lindmar
That's interesting. I wonder why Geekbench shows the machine type as Hackint0sh. I think and correct me if I'm rock, geek bench takes the name from the system and the name hackintosh was set when you used the brazilmac dvd... I could be wrong.. but I'm sure its something along those lines..

Not sure how to change this but if anyone has tips I'd like to.
tuukka H
It has to be one line in those efi files.. I just wonder also that my system says that its serial number is YM8659M6W0A. Does everybody else have this same code?
weaksauce12
Got home late today and I'm wrapping up the files. It will probably be tomorrow before I release it. Does everybody else have this same code?YesI asked this before but didnt get a response...I used to run Onyx and maintenance utilities on my machines to keep them in tip-top shape.Do you think I can run those same utilities on here to keep my system running smooth or is there a chance Onyx or other automated OSX maintenance tools could screw something up?Thanks in advance if anyone knows the answer...I dont even know the exact extent of cleaning this tools do, but I always used to run them religiously to keep things clean and tidy... daxv
Need advice and help : hi, after 6 weeks of waiting, all the parts ordered are here, i spent the last day to build the computer (some pain with the lock system of the CPU fan supplied with the Q6600 Box). All was fine (Updating bios=OK) till the Kaliway Format/Boot CD, because when i open up Disk utility, there no HDD listed (HDD visible in BIOS) , only the DVD Drive... then i try to change the sata cable from the blue plug to a black plug (will be fine if you precise wich set of sata should be used (3 blue with red Or 4 Black ? ) Unfortunately because i was impatient i unplugged the sata without turn off the computer and crash the machine... and now everytime i reboot, i've the beep siren and a red cpu led (near the I/O panel) meaning overheating, i've checked the lock system of the original intel fan Cpu (wich really sucks), and the thermal paste pre-applied (the pressure has made a full circle of paste ), but don't know what can i do more, i cannot access the bios because the PC turn off itself after few seconds of red led... EDIT : i've removed some thermal paste from thr bottom of the cpu fan and everything seems back to normal. but in Disk utility of Kalyway CD, there no HDD listed, BTW where in the BIOS you disable ACPI (i've only 2 choices : "S1 state" and "S3 State") and where you disabled the Marvell controller (the 2nd set of sata is the coloured or the black ones ? ) so close, so far... help welcome

This will reset the system completely. Then put it all back together and power up. Make sure you have the small and large power plugs plugged into the motherboard. If you have a high-power video card, make sure that has a power plug too. Let us know if that works!
daxv
thanks for your help, i've removed some thermal paste from the bottom of the cpu fan and everything seems back to normal. (bios reset too and i've disabled the watch dog) i stuck in another step : -> in Disk utility of Kalyway make bootable CD, there my HDD listed, i choose partition and name "Leopard", but after that i can see in the left column, the volume is greyed out (unmounted) and called diskoS1, then if i follow the install process there no volume to choose where install the system... then is there some terminal command or anything i can do ? -BTW : -where in the BIOS you disable ACPI (i've only 2 choices : "S1 state" and "S3 State") -where you disabled the Marvell controller (the 2nd set of sata is the coloured or the black ones ? ) Currently i test overnight the 8 Go Ram with the MemTest CD , will back in 8h or so... see ya
tuukka H
2nd set is the coloured ones.. And you have to mount that drive if its unmounted. Right click -> mount. ACPI is something that you dont have to disable if you want to install. I didnt disable it and hard drives still shows as internal. So no panic with this. Thanks Nothing to write - Kaly 10.5.1 is supposed to work great on the Gigabyte board. I think I got the bad copy of Kaly that was floating around because everything I've talked to so far who has the Giga and tried the new Kaly has had success. Revision 2 of the Bad Axe 2 guide (minor tweaks) is coming shortly. Nano07
Hi Weaksauce, Did you find a cheap wireless solution that works out of the box with Leo? I tried with "WiFi Wireless USB Network LAN adapter vista mac linux" from bluescale. It has a rtl8179L chip but it looks that the driver only works in Tiger. tuukka H
I have to say that this wlan card is maybe the best for mac/hack: Buffalo AirStation WLI2-PCI-G54S 54/125Mb/s I just opened the case -> assembled the card -> closed the case -> Boot It shows like real airport card and wont need any drivers. I tried with "WiFi Wireless USB Network LAN adapter vista mac linux" from bluescale. It has a rtl8179L chip but it looks that the driver only works in Tiger. The USB Wifi stick that I got from eBay was a dud (didn't work at ALL) and the seller went out of business, so I got hosed on that transaction I'd say go with tuukka H's recommendation and get a Buffalo WLI2. Ecost has it for under $50: http://www.ecost.com/detail.aspx?edp=24909...;ci_sku=2490960
tuukka H
Yes I am running 10.5.1 I also at first bought one a-link usb model but it didnt work so well so I just returned it to the shop. If you are going to buy this card check that it is similar to this picture: http://www.lanis.co.kr/data/cheditor/0510/...lo_06_copy1.jpg And that 4306 is the important part. If it is that 4306 it works.
daxv
No luck for me... my config : BadAxe2 KR / Q6600 2.4 Ghz / 8 Go Ram DDR2 / 7300 GT 256 Mo / DVDR 112D IDE Pioneer / HDD Hitachi 1 To SATA / sonata III Box 500 Watt (about 800 $) i surely have made mistake somewhere in the BIOS or somewhere else..because the install not works as expected : i've plugged the SATA HDD in SATA 0 Black connector, the HDD is listed in the Bios but the first screen i read when i turn on the PC is : "Marvell 88SE61xx controller - Bios version 1.1.0.34Scanning controller... Arrays informations No arrays is defined Disk information No hard disk is detected" also there no jumper on the HDD and the bios said there no first Master (the DVD drive is the first slave) sorry, my last PC Build is six years old, and i use Real Macs for 4 years nows then i'm certainly not up to date in BIOS config... the kaliway CD make Bootable HD is unable to format and assign the leopard name, the HD stay unmounted and no right-clic or blue button to make it works, then i tried the Kaliway 10.5.1 DVD and all seems fine (format and name fine) install fine till the reboot where come the black screen with : " system config file 'com.apple.boot.plist' not found " is all about the IDE DVD Drive ? so frustrating to be so close Any advice welcome.. (the BIOS Setting Chapter will be an good option for a chapter of the guide.)
bibendum
"Marvell 88SE61xx controller - Bios version 1.1.0.34Scanning controller... Arrays informations No arrays is defined Disk information No hard disk is detected" This is normal when you've activated the secondary controller but don't have any hard drives hooked up to it. The secondary one is the Marvell/Blue-Red connectors. So that error message is not the source of your problems. Try moving the HD to one of the other black connectors...
