BlackCH
heres a patch for the x600. Onixs
BlackCH: Hello... i have a board with VIA chipset. how can i be able to install this dvd? Everytime i boot the dvd, it reboots after the darwin loads. i know how to re-pack the Extension.mkext, but what files will i add to it so it will work with the VIA chipset? Hoping anyone could help me regarding this matter. Thanks! BlackCH
no experience with VIA chipsets here. By guessing I would try to pack any known VIA ATA working driver inside the extension.mkext... no clue. Theres actually a VIA ATA package inside the iso. You could try to extract this kext and pack it in the kextcache file Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75841-xxx_os_x86_10411_install_disc_intel/page/11/#findComment-637436 Share on other sites
Onixs
BlackCH: After unpacking the Extension.mkext, there is an existing AppleVIAATA.kext in it. But it seem, its not solved the problem regarding the DVD Reboot issue. When I added an AppleVIA.kext, the DVD finally Booted fine. In the setup menu, i have to check the VIA chipset , and manually added the AppleVIA.kext in the Extension directory after the setup. My computer works fine now with this solution. Hope it may come handy to others. Thanks for the Great Distro! zhimama
Actually, i got this DVD ( the newest XXX10.4.11 R1.0 )at TPB. But don't know why this one just doesn't work on my pc,which has been using XXX previous 10.4.10 and 10.4.11 DVD for several months. With this newset DVD i even can not start the installation. It showed me sth " Still wait for device..." and just stuck there for ever. Don't know why ? same pc has been used XXX10.4.10/10.4.11 DVD with no any problems of installation and running osx, and quite stable.... I want to try this new one is because my motherboard is P35 DS3R with ICH9-R Chipset, i just saw the information about this one release, and so glad to know ICH9-R and ALC889a audio has been attached. So...really wanna have a try...But.............. Is this new one over sensitive with hardwares ? any idea ? BlackCH
you have to replace the extensions.mkext file inside the iso (/System/Library/) with the one from the iso that works on your machine. Then you'll be able to boot. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75841-xxx_os_x86_10411_install_disc_intel/page/11/#findComment-639186 Share on other sites
microft
Hi! I'm trying to install this release on VMware Server 1.0.4 . I can run the installer but after that the virtual machine will not boot. I think it's a problem with the packages I choose on install. Which kernel/upgrade/etc should I select for a vmware virtual machine? Spiegel
Alright, so I used this particular DVD to install, and it went fine, but when I boot it just sits and hangs on a blue screen doing nothing after a bunch of nice white text flashes by very quickly.... armus2112
Spiegel, how can you expect anyone to help? You haven't listed your hardware in detail, nor have you even listed the installer options you selected during install. And you fail to mention what the text on the screen shows. Sheesh. microft
10.4.11 on VMware server under Ubuntu 7.10 is running! However there are still some problems: 1 - My vmware-mx process starts using up 100% cpu, even if OS X is iddling. 2 - No network access. I tried the Maxxxxus kext, but I get "Network cable unplugded" in System Preferences -> Network. Any help will be much appreciated. nugznmugz
Ok so this is my current situation. I've got OSX up and running with the latest kernel available on the disc (I can't remember the version number but its the newest one). At the first boot my audio worked, now it doesn't. I looked up some info on the wiki that I thought would help, here's the link: P4P800VM Info Down at the bottom in the "Known Issues" portion it says that the audio output is going out of the mic input and to change a string in the file. I did this and rebuilt the permissions. I verified that the kext was loaded after a reboot and it was but still no audio. Here's a copy of my kext: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList$ <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>CFBundleDevelopmentRegion</key> <string>English</string> <key>CFBundleExecutable</key> <string>AppleAC97CodecAD198x</string> <key>CFBundleGetInfoString</key> <string>1.0.0, Copyright Apple Computer, Inc. 2004</string> <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key> <string>com.apple.driver.AppleAC97CodecAD198x</string> <key>CFBundleInfoDictionaryVersion</key> <string>6.0</string> <key>CFBundleName</key> <string>Analog Devices AD198x AC97 Audio Codec Driver</string> <key>CFBundlePackageType</key> <string>KEXT</string> <key>CFBundleShortVersionString</key> <string>1.0.0</string> <key>CFBundleSignature</key> <string>????</string> <key>CFBundleVersion</key> <string>1.0.0</string> <key>IOKitPersonalities</key> <dict> <key>AD198x</key> <dict> <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key> <string>com.apple.driver.AppleAC97CodecAD198x</string> <key>IOClass</key> <string>AppleAC97CodecAD198x</string> <key>IOProbeScore</key> <integer>10000</integer> <key>IOProviderClass</key> <string>IOAC97CodecDevice</string> <key>PNPVendorID</key> <string>ADS75 ADS74 ADS73 ADS72 ADS71 ADS70</string> </dict> </dict> <key>OSBundleLibraries</key> </dict> <key>OSBundleLibraries</key> <dict> <key>com.apple.driver.AppleAC97Audio</key> <string>1.0.0</string> </dict> </dict> </plist> Can anybody see any errors? Also, the About This Mac doesn't function. Whenever I select it the screen goes black for a second and displays a couple of lines of text too fast for me to read; then the desktop reloads minus any applications I had running at the time. I'm new to this stuff but is this a kernel error? Vanio
Fisrt of all, many many thanks to all off you! It's incredible how you guys help everyone of us who really want a hackintosh. I have a laptop LG LW20 44Mp. The system is a Pentium M 2.0Ghz 1Gb of ram intel graphics extreme (intel gma 950) The question is that I can run the tiger, and the process of installation finishs correctly, no problems at all(I installed the 8.9.1 kernel as recommended). But after the reboot, I think the system boots correctly, since in the verbose mode I don't see any error. The problem is after the verbose mode ends, it appers a blue screen that should show some window to conclude the registration, but nothing appears, the system freeze. This is the same with Jas 10.4.8 version, and with Leopard(KalyWay 10.5.1, ToH versions) the system freezes in the same blue screen, but this time in the installer, this is it nevers shows the window to select the language. I really would like to have hackintosh on my laptop, please help me! Bananabomb
Can someone please help me with this? What options should I install on my P5W DH Deluxe PC with Q6600? 1. 8.11.1 or the 8.10.1 vanilla kernel? 2. Should I install the 10.4.11 combo update during main install or later? 3. Do I need dsmos.kext? Any other kind of information on how to make this work on this machine would be welcome. I did my homework regarding BIOS settings and already got a Leo 10.5.2 install on my OS harddrive which multiboots fine with XP (Kalyway Leo installed with EFI MBR option), but I want to try Tiger to see if my Geforce 6600Ultra works with it. killah
I'm having trouble installing this release. I first had 3 NTFS partitions on Windows XP SP2, then I resized the last one and made a 10GB FAT32 partition using Partition Magic 8. When I booted of the DVD I couldn't see the partition and I found out that the boot DVD can only detect 128GB of my 153GB HDD. After that I moved from 3 windows partitions back to one and made a new FAT32 partition within the 128GB the DVD could detect, I could see the partition now but when I want to format it to the MAC Extended format using disk utility it prepares the format but then it just stops without formatting or converting, so I can't install. this is my hardware: Processor: Intel Pentium IV 3.0 Ghz Northwood Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-8S648FX(-L) Chipset: SiS 648FX Chipset RAM: 1024Mb PC3200 (1x 512Mb, 2x256Mb) Videocard: Nvidia Geforce 6800 (Asus v9999 Gamer Edition, Fully unlocked) Audio: SiS 7012 Onboard HDD: Maxtor 6Y160P0 (160 GB, 7200 RPM, Ultra-ATA/133) DVD: LG HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8164B DVD Burner: NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A Network: Realtek RTL8139/810X Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC (Onboard) for the time being I resized the windows partition back to full size untill I find out how to fix it.
