fustyler
wonder if anyone have same issue. When i boot up with the usb device connected to my pc, mac recognises it (eg. dvd drive, usb stick). However if I eject the device and reinsert it, it no longer shows up in finder. I'd need to reload the mac to gain access to the device again. Similarly if i insert the usb device only after leopard has been loaded, it doesn't show up in finder either. fustyler
actually i fixed this problem just now while fixing my issue with ntfs not being able to write in leopard. if anyone's interested in being able to write to ntfs you should try ugsakaki's instructions: https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=31...686121557462077 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75316-leopard-usb-problem/#findComment-531964 Share on other sites

Arsenicson
Still no solution for this? Anyone? I have this problem under following conditions: working under 10.5.1 with Brazilmac kernel, EFIv8, SMBIOS file from EFIv8 and dsmos from Brazil patch pack. Had to add Natit, Azalia and a couple of files to enable PS2 - ApplePS2controller and ACPIPS2Nub.kext, PS2 started working only after i added the 2nd one. Removed AppleEFIRuntime. All other kexts are vanilla. I'm on Asrock 945G-DVI, C2D, 4 Gb RAM, NVidia 7600GT. Everything works, USB seems to be the only problem, like described by others above - USB devices work only if attached before booting. System profiler shows that hot-plugged devices are recognized by the system, but not used/mounted. But even System profiler does not refresh dynamically: it shows you what was plugged at the moment you start it. If you plug/remove devices you have to restart System profiler to see any change. Anyone has any update on this? P.S. After two days of trying all imaginable ways, i could not run vanilla kernel on my system. I've read that it may happen with some motherboards. Still, except for AppleEFIRuntime and AppleSMBIOS, all my kexts are vanilla, I've just added some extra like I said above. UPD: Seems like the problem is with the system itself, not just caused by hacking and non-apple hardware. Anyone interested may look here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5826309 At the moment I post this there's still no solution Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75316-leopard-usb-problem/#findComment-548510 Share on other sites
Panpan
Same problem for me with a Asus P5B Deluxe (no wifi ed) but my problem is very strange : sometimes the system reconize the devices, sometimes not... If there is a solution, please send it 'cause il thinking of changing my motherboard for a gigabyte one... jgmitchell
its not a fix, but its better than rebooting! del the Caches folder in Extensions, and wait a sec(or few) depending on your setup. sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/Caches Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75316-leopard-usb-problem/#findComment-548791 Share on other sites
