loybond
I've had trouble installing 10.4.8 because of video card issues (I get 800x1280 or 1600x2560, garbled as choices). I was using a 7800GT, which I thought should be very compatible (LOL, I did get rid of 2 8800GTXs to be Mac compatible), but I guess its not. Anyway, I wanna go with Leopard, and want 2560x1600 (which needs dual-link). Anyone have this setup? If so what card are you using? Are there any cards out there that'll just work, or work easily with Leopard and have dual-link? I have the 7800GT, a 6200LE (without dual link) and a Radeon 2400 PRO at my disposal, but I'm prepared to buy another card. Any recommendations? loybond
Which 8800GTS do you have? Or does it matter? <EDIT> My bad, I just noticed your sig. Also noticed that you managed to get it running on a 680i, nice! Are you able to use RAID under leopard? Did you use any special driver packages or kexts, or did it work right away? And you have QE/CI? Thanks a lot! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/74951-anyone-using-a-30-dell-lcd-2560x1600/#findComment-529555 Share on other sites

loybond
Well the 24" doesn't use dual-link, so that wouldn't be an issue. What do you guys recommend, that I go for an 8800 or a X1950? Which'd be easier to set up and deal with? Is the 8800GT compatible too? loybond
Wow! So thrilled! Just installed Leopard from the flat image and to my surprise, everything is working great! Thanks for the replies. It appears that QE/CI are working, but how do I double check? This is what I have... GeForce 7800 GTX: Chipset Model: GeForce 7800 GTX Type: Display Bus: PCIe PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x0091 Revision ID: 0x00a1 Displays: DELL3007WFPHC: Resolution: 2560 x 1600 Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Hardware Accelerated Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported Rotation: Supported Display Connector: Status: No display connected I thought there are more animations to the dock, is there any way to enable that? Thanks again... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/74951-anyone-using-a-30-dell-lcd-2560x1600/#findComment-530447 Share on other sites
crashnburn_in
Which PCIe / PCI Express / PCI X card (s) have driver support for 2560 x 1600 resolution on a Leopard or Snow Leopard? It could be any brand. NVidia, ATI or other. Preferably it can fit an Advanced Dock for T61. As I understand it, I will need a full-height, half-length PCIe video card. Please advise. Thanks.
