Have some questions how does one make a codec dump,I have ALC888 from an Abit IP35-E and for the life of me cannot get it to show or give sound, with modified Azalia.kext or other means. Is there a easier alternative for me to stop wasting time on this problem,I just need regular sound to some speakers through a cheap audio card(I do have an older C-media).Thanks in advance.

Computer Type: Laptop: Toshiba x205-s7483

Sound Card Vendor: Realtek

Sound Card Model: ALC268

Vendor Id: 0x10ec0268

Working: none

Not Working: all

Patcher Version used: ALC268Installer1, ALC268Installer2

System Version: Leopard 10.5.1

After browsing the forum, I found another user's dump that was very similar to mine:

Realtek ID 268

vendor: 0x10ec0268

sub id: ox1179ffoa <- this differs from the other user's

rev id: 0x100003

all of these are the same EXCEPT the subsystem id, does this matter? does this change the driver?

Now that I found that information, I used the ALC268Installer1 and got no sound after reboot, so I used #2, after that, I get a kernel panic. (Perhaps this is where I made my mistake... I didn't use the patcher since I thought the 268 would be more specific or something... It was late last night) I safe booted and tried many different things to get back to before I installed #1, but I used Carbon Copy Cloner to image my drive and it doesn't seem to let me restore from that image. I viewed the log that was produced from the installer and noticed the files were extracted to /System/Libraries/Extensions, I deleted this and restored the old one from my backup, now the computer doesn't panic, just sits at the mac logo screen loading for a very long time(even in safe boot (-x)), I haven't been able to get back into the OS.

So, now that I've got all of that out there, haha, thanks for reading so far if you have. My questions are... what should I do to get back so I can try the other packages? I have an image of the HDD directly before installing the ALC268Installer1 but no idea how to use it now that I cannot boot into the OS, should I try and copy the files from /System/Libraries on the backup directly to the HDD? I have a distro of linux installed and vista, which are both operational at this time. Is there any way someone could help me find what files to remove manually? Any better imaging software to try? Sorry if I seem needy :) I felt that backing up the HDD twice would do the job, apparently Carbon Copy Cloner isn't quite the software I wanted to use :(

Thanks for any info you may have

-Mike

Without line or headphone out, its no good to me.

I prefer the natit clone method, at least it helps me use the headphone jack.

ALC 883 - If running the new 8.8.1 kernel, multichannel out and audio in using a Natit clone method

ps. attached is the linux code dump from ubuntu live cd.

Note to Taruga:

- It seems ALC662 does not support the Volume Knob Widget. I found the datasheet from Realtek which

says something like this , so I guess another method is used for volume sliders support.

Here's the datasheet , in case you need to check this out.

Hi to everyone. Amazing work to all, thumbs up to Taruga.

This is my first post on the forum. It's been with no doubt the most useful place to make this work.
