zephyroth
Captain Nemo There's an issue with the installation of the bootloader. Don't know what you search in /usr/misc ... Once it's loaded : fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX (X is the number of your HD) f X (X is the number of your partition) update write (answer yes if asked) q then go to /usr/standalone/i386 (cd /usr/standalone/i386) and type : dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdiskXsX bs=512 count=1 (first X is your HD, second X is your partition) ./startupfiletool -v /dev/rdiskXsX ./boot bless --device /dev/diskXsX --setBoot reboot and Darwin bootloader must appear ... CaptainNemo
Anyone else have issues with the keyboard and mouse from their laptops? Mine will not work with Leopard. Thanx a lot! This works - means I'm able to boot from the disk. Now I've got the problem that I get a Kernel Panic when booting. I followed the instructions from http://osx86.thefreesuite.com/leo_amd.php (that's where I got the idea with /usr/misc) and -x really allows me to boot to the graphical side. But - It always hangs when I try to enter my informations "Do you already have a mac?". When I click "Do not transfer my information now", I have to wait ~30 seconds and then I come back to the country selection part. On another thread in this forum I found the hint to enable LPT, COM etc - but this won't help... Hopefully there's another solution! Thanx in advance! CaptainNemo
Hi, ok - I was able to proceed the setup completly and to book into the system. It's still in "Fail safe mode". I'm not sure what that means here... So i need to start with "-x" everytime (or edit the correct file to do this automatic).
haan0
I'm being logged out immediately after I log in. This is frustrating. Does anyone recognize this, and maybe gotten over it? After a clean install and fixing boot issues, I applied the patches in http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=73282 to get past 'create account'. System specs: Athlon 64X2 5200+, MSI K9AG Neo2-Digital motherboard, MSI Radeon RX2600XT. KenMac From somewhere halfway back in the forum, I recognize your problem of getting stuck at the 'create account' dialog. I can't run Marvin's Utility neither since I don't have a working OS X. I tried starting it from a flash drive via the install DVD, but that didn't work neither. As mentioned above, then I followed this guide: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=73282, which got me over the 'create account' hanging; but now I'm being logged out immediately after I log in. If you fancy a change of problem scenery, try it out
cliffdude
Hi, Thanks for the AMD DVD, I was really hoping it would be my ticket to a working installation of leopard. After reading the specs in the very first post on the thread my hopes grew even higher! BUT, I have a problem and I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on it, I have read and read all over this forum and on the other related forum. This thread and release seems to be the one most related to my hardware. Ok here goes... When I try to boot the DVD I get a still "waiting for boot device..." no matter what switches I use -legacy, -cpus=1, -f, -v, -x is what I have tried. This is my hardware: Asus A8N-SLI Nforce4 AMD 64 3500+ 2GB DDR 400 8600 GT IDE 320GB hard drive IDE DVD-Writer by NEC I thought this was an almost perfect match to the specs posted in the begining of this thread execpt for the IDE Hard drive and DVD-RW. So I guess it must be some setting in the bios or maybe the bios version its self. If anyone has any ideas please pass them on. It is worth saying that I have tried the Flat Image for AMD with brazilmac patch which I could not get to boot and I have tried to install tiger with the kalyway 10.4.10 patched that gave me a similar result. As I said before I HAVE READ and i have tried to sort this out without posting asking for help but I am ready to give up. Thanks in advance CliffDuDe
jb00
Hello, This install is working great for me on an NF4 board with a 7600GS. I used the NVinject to get the video working and put a forcedeth from here which I think is what made my network work, so all is well. iLife 08, Office 04 are all running well. Anyway, I've been using a USB mouse and keyboard to get this working, but would prefer to get the ps/2 kvm in place but I haven't had any luck. I took the ApplePS2Controller.kext posted on an earlier page, unzipped it and put it in my extensions folder and did the usual chown, chmod, deleted cache, repaired permissions and shutdown. Then I unplugged the USB keyboard and mouse and plugged the PS/2 ones. Oddly I got a kernel panic on Forcedeth. I powered back down swapped keyboard and mouse back and booted up just fine (I'm typing this from it). An ls -l on the extensions folder shows... drwxr-xr-x@ 3 root wheel 102 Jul 31 2006 ApplePS2Controller.kext What does the @ sign denote (I've googled and googled to no avail)? Anyone else have an idea of what to try? Many thanks to all!

jb00
I had the installation stall with "about a minute left". I reformatted and tested this several times and always got that lock up. In the end, I got to the lockup, rebooted and reran the install DVD and it finished, then booted from the installation with -x removed the geforce and NV kexts repaired permissions and I was able to get into Leo (albeit under vesa). Thanks in advance CliffDuDe Cliffdude, I think your going to run into a problem eventually with support for the 8600gt, though its unlikely to be whats stopping the install dvd loading. See this re the 8600gt and similar cards: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=65849 Have a look at the post messages as your dvd loaded, a few lines before it stalled for any hints? Mine needed firewire disabled in bios before it would load successfully. Once it was disabled i didn't need to use any switches for the installation dvd. If you cant spot the problem device, maybe include a pic of your screen next post here.
Mastermind278
I was able to get the keyboard to work if I do a uprade from Tiger to Leopard. Then everything works except for sound and WiFi. After that I used the sound drivers that I used for 10.4.8 (ALC883AUDIO) and it works. Then I try replacing the IO80211FAMILY.KEXT with the one that made the wifi work (Artheros 5005G) and after going through all the commands get messages saying It was not installed properly and I can't seem to get the WIFI to work. Anyone can help? Specs: Acer Aspire 5100 AMD ATHLON Turion 64x2 Radeon XPRESS 200M (Works at 1200x800) Atheros AR5005G (Need help from you guys!!!!) I would greatly apperciate the help! Thanks! okubo-show
HI! Thanks for AMD DVD too! My motherboard ASUS M2A-VM and AMD Athlon BE-2300. This DVD image gave me successful install!. Thanks again! My tips are, If DVD drive is slave, it is not working. Just plug as master! If you install SATA drive, IDE control mode won't recognize SATA drive. Switch AHCI mode. SB600.kext remarkably improve overall OSX86 performance. Okubo-show

Rockystar
what can i do then? hi, not sure if this will work in leopard but in tiger you had to install via vmware and then replace appleonboardpcata.kext with an editted one. Im am gonna try when done downloading iso, but for now take a look at this forum http://www.insanelymac.com/lofiversion/index.php/t11816.html the part about vmware and enabling atix200 southbridge is the part you are stuck at it should help you out. Let me know if this helped, and or if it worked or not

Mastermind278
how did you manage to install with the Xpress chipset? As mentioned earlier I can only get it to work properly if I do an upgrade from Tiger, or else I am stuck as 1024x768. To get it working nicely on 10.4.8 I used Katana 1.2 ATI Graphics driver, which made it work good. Once upgraded to Leopard it was not an issue, the settings for the graphics card stayed the same. (Unlike when I tried a clean install). As mentioned before if someone has gotten the Atheros AR5005g working on Leopard I would apperciate the help! SteveStar
Hey, I installed Leopard and all went fine. Then I got a kernel panic and I booted with -x -v options. I followed a guide to get my x700 pro working but then when I boot there is a graphical boot screen (no white text appearing on the screen but only the Apple logo with a spinning thing) and then I get the 4 language error. My question now is how do I get past this panic? Because I can't hit F8 anymore when I try to boot; it just goes directly to the Apple logo... Thx
cliffdude
Thank's Graebags You are a genius!! My DVD drive was in SLAVE mode on the jumper settings which causes the "still waiting for boot device" error in case anyone is seaching for a solution to this. Sometimes when working with computers you forget to chech the simple things... Now I need more help !!! :-) I must be an idiot!! :-) Ok I have solved the still waiting for boot device error but now it reboots shortly after cheching the filesystem.. I get a slight pause 5-10 secs and then reboot. Any ideas ? My system config is: Asus A8N-SLI AMD 64 3500+ 2GB DDR 400mhz 8600GT (only one :-( !! ) IDE hard drive IDE DVD Drive (now in master) This MacOS stuff is so much harder than I thought... I have been installing linux and windows professionally for years and I now feel like a total noob! Firewire is disabled in bios, sata raid controller is also disabled in bios.
