Now i face an issue where it freezes at the 'create an account' screen, where it asks to set up a password, verify it and a hint. once i click on done, it shows its creating an account, but that goes on forever..

any ideas??

PS. Im using a PS2 keyboard and mouse.. my keyboard works fine, but mouse wont work. Just FYI if this has anything to do with the above issue.

USB Problems:

use the USB Kext of the ToH Files and it will probably fix your problem!

Can you help me locate those Kext? Would i be able to browse the Install DVD to find it? Could you upload the kext? Any help is appreciated. I installed the GenPC USB kext and USB 2.0 works with legacy disabled in bios only. If enabled, USB 1 works but 2.0 does not. I'd like to not have to disable legacy USB in bios.

i get the same problem lke inter981 got in the picture.

@ Sleepy Yellow

boot with -s
rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce.kext
rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/Ge*.kext
rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/NV*kext
exit

After that, you should be good to go.

As for video card drivers use these:

JCCools Method (for id's 7249 & 7244)

use it only if your device ID matches one of those two.

After you're done with that, restart, boot again with

"CPUS=1"

anyone know the solution to why it freezes at the create an account screen?

I installed first Tiger and then installed Leopard on the same partition, it works fine (and without any flags. I remove -legacy in com.apple.Boot.plist,so it's 64 bits) :(

I also removed -legacy....no problems here runs great mins the fact that ive had no luck with any nvidia drivers to get QE/CI working, closest ive gotten is just my resloution working with titan from TubGirls 10.4.10....Any other drivers cause the system to hang @ "starting: /usr/sbin/ocspd(67)" or whatever it is

EDIT: i would like help with this if anyone is willing, ive tried the leonvidia drivers found in this thread as well as many others along side with titan, Natit, and NVInject...no luck at all, everything causus the system to hang except the titan from tubgirls 10.4.10 (i have this tiger release installed on another drive and works friggen flawless with QE/CI perfectly)- which only gets me my resolution, no QE/CI...do i need to patch something with marvins amd utility

i have an eVGA 7900 GT/KO (pcie)(overclocked from factory i guess).

How do i get the device id and how do i get it to work? ohh gosh it wou ld be great to get it working!

Ahh, totally forgot about "legacy".

Just curious on what "-v" does

Someone correct me if im wrong but i beleive "-v" is for "Verbose" which basically just displaysall the system messages and errors @ boot rather than the apple logo with the spinning laoder thingy

Ahh yes, you're correct.

I think i'll take out "-v" for now. My system seems to be near 100% stable at the moment.

Gonna try out 64bit, hopefully none of my software is effected by it.

Good luck man- im still working on nvidia issues with my 7900...

other than that all works great - except "About this Mac", which i will worry about last

See this post

I had the same problem as well, it's a simple fix as long as you have the root account enabled.

How to : Enable the root account

Open Directory Utility located in Application » Utilities.

You may have to unlock Directory Utility to make changes.

Once it's unlocked, go to Edit » Enable Root User, and then type in a password for your root user.

Run terminal, then login with

su root

It should ask you for a password (it's the password you setup for the root account).

eVGA 7900GT/GTO (its labeled on the actual card itself as the GT/KO)

not sure how to get the device id

This is what tiger tells me:

Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT

Type: Display

Bus: PCIe

VRAM (Total): 256 MB

Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)

Device ID: 0x0291

Revision ID: 0x00a1

Displays:

Sceptre X20G-NagaIII:

Resolution: 1680 x 1050 @ 60 Hz

Depth: 32-bit Color

Core Image: Supported

Main Display: Yes

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Quartz Extreme: Supported

Rotation: Supported

this is what natit, and nvinject display while trying to boot

m0ead6f57 :2

m7b9b743c

(but im not sure what those numbers mean)

always says <starting display> 1,

<starting display>1 failed

it then gets stuck at starting /usr/sbin/ocspd.

If your Leopard install is like mine then it isn't 64 bit even without -legacy. Get the Mac version of Geekbench 2

and see whether or not the 64 bit version of the application has a white ring with a line through it over

the icon suggesting incompatibility. Also, in a terminal window go into /Applications and run file on a few apps, e.g.:

$ file iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes

iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes: Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures

iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes (for architecture ppc): Mach-O executable ppc

iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes (for architecture i386): Mach-O executable i386

and compare that to the 64 bit version of Geekbench 2:

$ file Geekbench\ \(64-bit\).app/Contents/MacOS/Geekbench\ \(64-bit\)

Geekbench (64-bit).app/Contents/MacOS/Geekbench (64-bit): Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures

Geekbench (64-bit).app/Contents/MacOS/Geekbench (64-bit) (for architecture ppc64): Mach-O 64-bit executable ppc64

Geekbench (64-bit).app/Contents/MacOS/Geekbench (64-bit) (for architecture x86_64): Mach-O 64-bit executable x86_64

The built in applications should (as far as I understand it) have four architectures listed if it were a 64 bit system.
