falkyre
Hey everyone, I got this release working with the exception of my SATA DVD burner actually burning a DVD or anything. Not too worried about that. I have an ASUS A8N-E with an ATI X1900GT card (full QE/CI too). I had to set my cpus=1 in the boot.plist in order to get the network to work with the forcedeth.kext but that's cool. Anyone know if replacing the forcedeth.ketx with the forcedeth.nokcd.kext will fix anything related to the cpus=1 or not bother? Anyways, my real curious question is has anyone installed the PC_EFI at all on the AMD platform? Would it make sense to or should I leave well enough alone for now (seeing everything pretty much works). Thanks!

sergiales
For those who have problems with USB devices, this is what I did: - from BIOS: USB Controller = Enabled, USB 2.0 Support = Enabled, USB Legacy Support = Disabled. - from OSX boot: remove -legacy, just boot with -v for debug. Only with that cfg I've got all my USB devices working fine. I have a mobo with NF4 chipset. Merry Xmas and good luck.

braid
Hello folks! I have installed the 10.5.1. The install is ok, but after it theres no boot. I did read a lot of ways to do the boot. But I need to know which one is the ok. questions: in the installer, at the startup disk option, it doesnt show the HD, just de dvd. is it normal? I have a 20gb hdd only for the osx. FOrmatted macos journ. with master boot record option. My previous 10.4.9 was booting normaly. I guess that This 10.5.1 is not installing the darwin bootloader. am I right? - sorry for the poor english - so , my problem is that: NO BOOT after install. Only a blank cursor... and YES I read the topic, but I´m confused, I tried the rm disks01 and nothing. Tried the /usr/misc/script.sh ... and nothing... deadghost
Did you use the forcedeth.ketx that planetbeing just created or the forcedeth from the beginning of the thread? Now that you mentioned it, I can't really figure it out. I think it is the one attached to post #425 in the nForce LAN thread. LE: Yes, it's from the forcedeth6100.zip archive attached to post #425. raphael_X
Hey Zephyroth, everything works perfectly for me now, except for one little thing. When I'm downloading files, so that I'm using high bandwith, the system will freeze and I have to force a reboot. It's probably because of the nForce 4 Chipset. I have also tried different forcedeth Drivers, but they don't fix the problem. I changed from DHCP to Manual, but that didn't fix the problem either. What would you suggest? Thanks. @ Hackintosh2 use a different network port if you have a second one on your motherboard - your download lockups will go away - i had the same problem and switched to my marvell port and all my lockup issues have left!! i also deleted the forcedeth kext file as well! I'm having exactly the same problem, but I haven't second port What should I do?

kid_icarus
First off, Thanks for the release Zephyroth! Works nearly perfect! I am running this on an HP tx1220 and out of the box I have: -LAN working (changed DEV id in Forcedeth.kext) -Tablet functionality (screen as a pointing device) -Media Center remote (up/down and select control, don't think it'll work for frontrow though) I am having a slight problem getting the wifi going though, its a Broadcom 4328, and yes have read about every tutorial on here so far but nothing yet...here's the problem... OTB the card is recognized (even though the proper DEV ID wasn't in the info.plist hmm....), I have the airport signal meter in the top corner but it is "greyed out". I select join network and it doesn't find anything, almost as if there was no signal at all.....theres about thirty routers in my apartment building so I don't know what is going on. In system profiler it shows the airport device as "Third Party Wireless Card". When booting I get a strange error that says something like "Interface not found AirPort_brcm43XX" or something like that..I'll have to check and see...I have tried changing the network preferenced plist, I added the correct DEV id...I'm outta ideas...Anyone have any clue what I may be doing wrong here? Oh...another thing I should point out is that when installing, Disk Utility (and the installer for that matter) can only mount the FIRST partition on my SATA hd...It shows the other partitions (unmounted) but does not allow any operations on them (erase, mount). I just installed to an external usb hd, works fine. And one more question...Does this release have EFI? In "About this mac" it shows as "mac" but I can not install iLife off of my retail tiger disc without pacifist. Just wondering.
mus
After having running this version for about a week or even longer I fixed EVERYTHING. System: AMD Athlon 4000+ MSI K8N Neo4 1GB RAM GeForce 7800 GTX IDE Harddrive - Got PS2-Keyboard working fine now with ApplePS2Controller.kext and disabling legacy support in BIOS - Graphics are working fine with QE/CI with the kexts that I got from somewhere in this Thread. - Booting without DVD works fine thanks to the tip from page 31 - fixed iTunes and QuickTime crashing with the QuickTimeComponents.component I found somewhere here as well. - AC97 video is recognized, but didn't test it since I have a Logitech USB Headset which is working fine as well. - Hercules PCI W-LAN is also working with the Drivers from ralinktech.com (RT2500) - My other S-ATA harddrive is recognized as well - My LAN-ports aren't working, but since I don't need them, I don't really care Everything else is working just fine, even Enemy Territory is working just as fast as under Windows. Thank you so much man.
blood_brother
I download this iso. Now I'm trying to install, but I'm getting I/O error on my SATA disk, my configuration is nforce mcp51. I see that medevil releases a news driver to nforce chipset's, there's a way I can load this driver at installation?? Thanks for help.
Hackintosh2
Everything works smooth and nicely for me, but I still get freezes when downloading huge files or surfing high bandwith pages. This is so annoying! Please give us a fix, to make it work with nForce 4. I have already deactivated one of my two lan ports, AND I use Manual Mode instead of DHCP. Thanks! falkyre
... and yes, it works rock solid when using cpus=1... Have you tried the new forcedeth that planetbeing just created? Apparently it handles better and no need for cpus=1. I will be trying it over the holidays.

bobbylx
Well, I just want to say thank you to Zephyroth for all the hard work. I have probably the worst combination for OSX, and his load worked perfectly. The only change I had to make was with the Nvidia kexts. For what it's worth, here are my specs and what I did. AMD Athlon X2 64 4600 DFI Ultra Infinity II M2 2 gb ram Nvidia 7800GTX 40gb Maxtor IDE drive I first unplugged my SATA drive with Win Vista on it, just so I didn't destroy anything. Next, boot to DVD. Open disk utility, erase, partition, and make MBR my 40gb drive. Now install to drive using custom to select options. Once the install was finished, I rebooted and boot into the install DVD again. Instead of installing I just opened a terminal and removed the NV* and GeForce* kexts, by doing this; mount -uw / cd /Volumes/your_partition_name_here/System/Library/Extensions/ rm -rf GeForce*.kext NVDA*.kext After this I rebooted into the OS. I didn't need to boot as safe mode or single user or anything, and I did not need to use the cpus=1 flag. Once I got into the OS, created my account, I got the new Nvidia kexts from here, http://rapidshare.com/files/72992251/leo_vid_kexts.zip.html, and moved them to /System/*my_partion_name*/Library/Extensions. I rebooted again and now have dual monitor support on both my 21 inch Dell's. No other audio or networking patches were needed. Just installed Little Snitch and I'm done. Again, thanks so much to Zephyroth for very well made install disk. Good luck to all.
ongabonga
After a Initial Problem a week or two ago, i got it installed in my Laptop by upgrading Tiger, but, right now i'm in process of installing it stand alone. My initial problem was that the original DVD wasn't recognizing my SATA controllers which are VIA, i've just replaced some Kexts while Remastering the DVD(for you guys that might attempt this,i've replaced other kexts for my personal tastes, but, pay attention in replacing the IOATA...kext if you have the same problem as me). Let's see how it goes after a clean install. i'll keep you posted
appleIIcuser
Hey Zephyroth I'm new to this and I am having trouble installing it on my system. I have 4 partitions: Partition 0: Primary FAT(EISA) (Restore Partition) Partition 1: Primary NTFS (Windows) Partition 2: Primary Unformatted Partition with ID=AF (Suppose to be Mac) Partition 3: Logical Partition FAT32 I was able to boot fine, the problem is when I try to "Erase" the Mac partition it failed and gave me the error Filesystem verify or repair failed. So basically I can't even set up a partition as the guide said. So I was unable to proceed with the installation. Specs: AMD Turion T64 Mobile TL-52 X2 1024MB DDR2 (128MB Shared) PC2-5300 IGP GeForce Go 6100 SATA HD 120GB Total
zephyroth
Hi all, Firstly there are many questions you could answer by yourself (Your brain, Google ...). Secondly it is useless to bombard me with pm, I have another thing to make to ensure the "service after sale". Thirdly I could not upload Rev.2 before Christmas. There are still too many problems with it and I do not have time to reflect on it at the moment. I thought that for Christmas it would be good but I had the unforseen ones thus from now I do not give more date for Rev.2. With luck some others DVD wil be released for AMD before mine. If not ... you will have to wait.
Djo
I was wondering... is there a way to accelerate a bit the boot process ? I mean, deleting unused kexts etc... Have nice holidays
ongabonga
OK Guys, here's a small Guide about what i have done: 1st Attemtp: Got an error where it said that there wasn't a driver for my SATA controllers Solution: Remastered the DVD and copied all kexts from brazilmac's on the new DVD (very simple and quick) It Upgraded Tiger finely and booted finely, tought it broke my Atheros Card 2nd Attempt: Got that infamous "Still Waiting for Root Device" after the Firewire Messages Solution: Stick in the DVD again and started the Installation, jumped into the Terminal, mounted a Flash Drive(an External USB hard-drive would do fine), Removed all the kexts that matched BrazilMac's and copied the patched ones into the extensions folder(copied BrazilMac's). I'm still getting Black Screen if i Install the Nvidia Kexts(not a big deal, you could remove it from the terminal and it would boot fine then)...anyway, i'll keep trying to make Nvidia work. Any doubts about this process, just ask me.
