GingerPrince
Hi, I'm trying to install the EFI bootloader on a p5k-e but i'm not having very much luck at all. It appears to install totally fine but when I boot up, it doesn't load the bootloader. Has anybody got it working on a p5k-e or am I wasting my time? cheers, Matt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/71743-efi-p5k-e/ Share on other sites

GingerPrince
well. it works fine, just got it going. Had lots of probs with my MBR but they were all my fault. works like a dream, running vanilla everything except the IONetworkingFamily, NVInject and AppleAzalia, which have been patched for device IDs. GingerPrince
nothing special. just followed the instructions. booted into single user mode and then ran startupfiletool from the iamefi directory. the problems I were having were all related to my partitioning scheme. I have 4 partitions. 1 Tiger, 1 Leopard, 1 XP and 1 Data. All my testing had been done with the XP partition as the active partition, and from what I've read, that should be fine. I just decided to try it with Leopard as the active partition "just in case". Lo and behold, it all started up with no probs. did the update to 10.5.1 and everything is still fine. Apart from shutdowns not always working but I've read of a few people having that problem so I'll fix it later, it's no biggie. PM!
I tried pc_efi_v8 on my P5K-E with a Core 2 Quad : no succes... I get it installed but GeekBench still tells me Hackintosh... and "About this mac" says processor "Unknown"... Any solution to install it poperly ? And 100% working ? That would be great. I'm on 10.4.11 (with a little problem with mounting .dmg files : I still have to make a command : sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/IOHDIXController.kext)... I don't know how to cache it définitively... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/71743-efi-p5k-e/#findComment-531077 Share on other sites
