omfgrotflolmaobbqburgers
Eskurza has posted some new info about the new iATKOS dvd which still hasn't come out yet. http://www.uphuck.com/forum/showthread.php?t=186 Hey guys, Here is a little info about iATKOS as of today. We have a beta copy that installs and runs without any issues atm.. the rest of the process will not take long.. just a matter of days. - Only SSE3, INTEL cpu ~ this can be extended easily since both amd, sse2 improvements are complete. - Uses Leopard Installer ~we moved away from the idea of using Tiger installer on this release. iATKOS uses the leo installer. - what Kernel? ~ we base the iATKOS dvd to Netkas' brilliat kernels for leo with the support of SpeedStep Technology. - Short install time ~Like Tiger releases, iATKOS has unified packages. - DVD Size? ~ the image as of today is about 4GBs. (Fully Universal System). iATKOS v1 might come out fully universal to stop further delay. But the Intel only version will follow. - Bootloader? ~iATKOS has the classic Darwin bootloader atm. The steps to integreate the new Bootloader has been tried and was successful. the iATKOS release will come out with the new bootloader. Hope this sheds some light to improvements as of today. The major problems with the installer has been solved. So not too long to wait after this.. CHeers..

alepro2
- what Kernel?~ we base the iATKOS dvd to Netkas' brilliat kernels for leo with the support of SpeedStep Technology. I'm confused. I thought iATKOS would make use of the EFI hack and use the vanilla kernel. Does this mean that Apple updates won't work with iATKOS?

Does this mean that Apple updates won't work with iATKOS?Thinking about the same! They also say something about 'a new bootloader' Do they plan to make a graphical bootloader like Boot Camo or something that looks like that?Thats the only thing im really waiting on a Boot Camp style Boot Loader

chawknz
Well apparently even if it is 10.5, we should be able to upgrade to 10.5.1 and beyond with system updater with no problem. Thanks for all the work guys! Looking forward to this release.
