Actually, I never did. I just wanted to post up the latest news that I discovered when I got home from Micro Center today. <_>

Just updated, but of course it wouldn't boot, so I restored the TOH kernel (I have efi_4 but no dual core), but system thinks it is at 10.5.1, and nothing has been broken, time machine needed to backup around 400 mb...

how would i back up or restore the toh kernal? and if it doesn't oot after the update do i need the install dvd to restore toh kernal......i'm gonna give it a shot and if it doesn't work i'll reboot from/with time machine

easy:

in terminal enter

sudo cp /mach_kernel /mach_kernel.backup

after the update, and it doesn't boot:

F8, enter mach_kernel.backup -v

you should be booted into the OS normally, then just inside terminal enter:

sudo mv /mach_kernel.backup /mach_kernel

and you should be back to normal again.

Don't worry, I managed to extract the update to a folder with pacifist, then I ran the Marvin's AMD Utility on my Mac Dell, create the decrypts and cpuid files, edited and copied to my AMD, I'm on 10.5.1 in the AMD too :D

if you have pc_efi_v51, then you dont need to use pacifist, you can just update straight from software update. just if you have gma950, save your original intelintegratedframbuffer.kext, cuz you'll need that. i did this, and my computer is running 10.5.1 including the kernel. i love it!
