Dan Druff
ktrain, Have you edited AGPGart's AGP_HOST in info.plist? I installed too without editing and no boot to GUI. See my post #741. Also, you may want to try the modbin install method for ATI X1xxx, very quick and reliable, you only need to edit the kext to include ID 7142 in their info.plist and update to AGPGart 2.7.1. Using that method, I only use vanilla IOPCIFamily of leo 10.5.4, if I use the one in the thread, my install is broken.

gurukool
HI,I have a radeon express 1150 card. as i understand this is a RS200M card. I tried AGPgart 2.71 but i still have no QE and neither can i change resolution. With callisto i can change resolution but I am also looking for QE enabled..Is that possible with this? my system profiler says.... Type: Display Bus: PCI VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x5975 Revision ID: 0x0000 Kernel Extension Info: No Kext Loaded Displays: Display: Resolution: 1024 x 768 Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Software Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Not Supported I am attaching the ioreg and dmesg dump for reference. Pls let me know if i am something wrong and is its possible to get QE on this card.. I am testing this in a test partition in external drive.. TIA, Hi...any help with this? Dan Druff
As I see it, Gurukool and nickhe, you are looking both to use your card at its full potential. From my knowledge, it seems not possible now to enable AGP port under Leo (AMD/Intel) or Tiger (Intel). If you want to use its full potential, you should have to wait a little bit. But you can still use your card with satisfaction. For my part, I use Modbin install method for my Radeon X1600 without noticable problems. My AGP port isn't totally used but I can still use Leopard as my main OS and for looking DVD or movies on the net. You only have to follow the link in my post #741, extract content with pacifist, modify the kexts I mention and place that in your Extensions folder. You will get QE/CI/Rotation/resolution change with this mod, use SwithResX to get non-standard resolutions. Moreover, you will then use AGPGart and help to get AGP working in the end. FYI, I install from a retail DVD 10.5.0 and upgrade to 10.5.4 using pacifist, patch for my MB/Sound Card/ethernet and then for Display.
Slice
Hi Slice, Installed Leo4All on P4 2.0 sse2, sis chipset 900, agp x1300 pro 256 mb, ven/devid 1002x7142, trying to get agp and accel working. Installed you AGPGart 2.71 and IOPCIFamily kexts from first post, set permissions as instructed, rebooted, now agpgart is loaded but SP still shows display as PCI, no kext loaded, still stuck at 1024x768 60 Hz. Here is ioreg and dmesg: What else you need? I got your information. Your chipset is SIS. HOST DevID=650 that is new for me. Wait, please, I'll try to include support for it. didn't work i get this http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=32947 As I see from photo AGPGart has bad calculation of Aperture for your case. Try to enter BIOS and reduce AGP aperture to 128Mb or 64Mb as JaS did. Hi...any help with this? Your card is Radeon X200 devID=5975 that is not AGP. You need not AGPGart. You probably need ATIPCIeGart. But I don't know a man who are going to write the driver. I can make an advice how to. 2 Dan Druff As I understand you use reduced set of drivers? Can you tell in details versions IOPCIFamily IOGraphics IONDRVSupport AGPGart natit, ATIinject if any ATIRadeonX1000 ATI..GA ATI..GL ATI..VA ATINDRV OpenGL.framework ? ? Slice
2 nickhe Is there any possibility to enter BIOS? Can you adjust aperture or Video Memory Size in any matter? Try also previous versions of AGPGart and try to adjust HOST_Base (AGP_Base). Why I see AGP 2.0? It might be 3.0. Some BIOS settings? 2 ktrain Did you try SISAGP or HackintoshAGP by EmersonFX? http://www.x86dev.org/forum/index.php?topic=285.0 My AGPGart really has no SIS chipset support for Intel processor. And I has no technical description for the SIS AGP bus. Can you find a document? I attach his driver for you to test. Instead of EFI you can use natit/atiinject/atilead but you don't need any of them to get QE/CI. blue screen -> use IONDRVSupport.kext 1.4.3 see FAQ. polifinario
Hi Guys, you're doing a great job. Is there any chance that agpgart would work with nvidia and in particular geforce 6200? To start I'm using nvinject, and in PCI mode i have QE+CI After installing agpgart I get a blue screen that fades smoothly into a black screen with mousecursor. According to the FAQ I understand that I have to edit Agpgart.kext. At AGP_BASE, should I try all the other values that are provided in the faq? Slice
2 runkelstrunkel Thank you for the detailed report. It will help for the developement. Till now nobody successful with nVidia AGP under Leo even though Common Sense is a programmer and tried very many variants including Tiger's nVidia drivers. May be we lost something important. What I found in your report Sep 12 03:02:35 localhost kernel[0]: AGP: VRAM=[c0000000, 10000000]Sep 12 03:02:35 localhost kernel[0]: AGPINTEL: aperture [c8000000, 08000000] Sep 12 03:02:35 localhost kernel[0]: AGPINTEL trace PCI space Sep 12 03:02:35 localhost kernel[0]: (00)=25708086 (04)=20900006 (08)=06000002 (0c)=00000000 Sep 12 03:02:35 localhost kernel[0]: (10)=c0000008 (14)=00000000 (18)=00000000 (1c)=00000000 Place (10) is a Host_controller address. It must be not the same as VRAM address. Can you edit AGPGart.info.plist to <key>HOST_Base</key> <integer>0xc8000000</integer> Or may be 0xd0000000 ? Try also set aperture in BIOS = 64Mb. May be some changes occur. ktrain
SISAGP must be loadable for you. I don't know why not.Try to enter in terminal sudo -s kextload -t sisagp.kext and say what is happen yes, related. Instead of EFI you can use natit/atiinject/atilead but you don't need any of them to get QE/CI. blue screen -> use IONDRVSupport.kext 1.4.3 see FAQ. OK, with IONDRVSupport.kext and SiSAgp.kext, I now have AGP instead of PCI, but if I add ATIx1000.kext, its black screen freeze, any ideas? runkelstrunkel
Hello, i still have no succes with agp on intel chipset with nvidia GF7800GS ive changed the AGP_BASE Settings as u told me, and the Aperture Setting in the BIOS too but it didnt help... but with the 0xd0000000 Setting i got an Black Screen with two mouse Cursors (one hangs) but like im said... Still no AGP with Intel and Nvidia... :censored2: If u have any other Ideas or if u need some logs from my System please tell me... so long
Maik-
Another unsuccessful nVidia story: Intel 865G Leadtek Winfast 7600GT AGP 256MB (DVI+VGA, 2 vga Monitors connected) iAtkos 10.5.4 with toh kernel Injection method with NVKUSH & manual plist edit, qe/ci working fine on 2 screens but detected as pci card. - first I installed only AGPGart: not a good idea, system wont boot even in safe mode, had to delete it via single user. - then I installed AGPGart (271) and IOPCIFamily.kext: Screen fades from blue to black with mouse cursor on top. Can move cursor on both screens and can shut down system fine with key command. - I edited suggested host_base values with same results (black screen) 0 0xf0000000 0x08000000 0x10000000 0xd8000000 0xe8000000 0xf8000000 - aperture size in bios was standard 64mb, I changed it to 128 once with same results but did not try all combinations - changing "init graph. adapter priority" in bios from "pci/agp" to "agp/pci" had no effect either - then I deleted only APGGart from single user mode (using "exit" from single user mode to continue boot, not sure if the extension get loaded again?): I still get the black screen. Only after copying back the original IOPCIfamily.kext I have display again. Not sure if this important. I attached ioreg, dmesg & lots of sys logs, hope this helps, let me know if I can give more info or there is anything I should try. 7600gt_agpgart_info.zip
Slice
Thank to all for new testing. May be one day we will find a mistake in AGPGart driver. Now I can only propose something about addressing. OK, with IONDRVSupport.kext and SiSAgp.kext, I now have AGP instead of PCI, but if I add ATIx1000.kext, its black screen freeze, any ideas? SISAGP.kext is not my driver. Author - EmersonFXBX said it works for him with significant acceleration but no any other tester had the same chipset. Only you and your chipset is not exactly the same. Ideas? Raise the development of the driver. You must learn C++ or find Emerson Sorry, but my driver is not working too. I want to see one other progammer to discuus the problem. i still have no succes with agp on intel chipset with nvidia GF7800GS ive changed the AGP_BASE Settings as u told me, and the Aperture Setting in the BIOS too but it didnt help... but with the 0xd0000000 Setting i got an Black Screen with two mouse Cursors (one hangs) but like im said... Assignment of IODeviceMemory to devices and order of interrupt assignment. It would be interesting if you can produce ioreg files with different IOPCIFamily. I have my own observation that this kext really influence on graphics. May be it is worth to return to the PCI kext investigation. But with this chipset ATI Radeon works! AGPGart deals only with chipset. Not with card. Only memory assignment may influence. I know that ATIRadeonXXXX.kext works different ways if it see IOAGPFlags property. I don't know anything about nVidia.

You must learn C++ or find Emerson I understand Sisagp.kext is not yours, my point was that it was the IONDRVSupport.kext 1.4.3 that actually allowed the Sisagp to work, and wondered if this info would help you to support this SIS chipset in AGPGart... I know a very little C++, I haven't used it since making mod for HL2, but maybe I could install VS again to see if something I can do to help... But with this chipset ATI Radeon works! I don't know anything about nVidia. So you mean if I have AGP with AGPGart AND/OR SisAGP, I should be having my x1300 pro, devid 1002x7142 working? I tried modbin, natit, old tiger kexts, nothing I do can work, but it is using AGP now.

If you have hardware acceleration I ask you to publish your solution what kexts you use. (versions details as Dan Druff reported) If possible show OpenMark results with and without AGP driver. For mouse artifact you may try MouseLocator. For resolution change you need ATINDRV+natit/nvinject/atiinject. I know Natit-uni.1.0.pkg. Old but working. I just installed the new IOPCIFamily.kext (2.4.4) again (without agpgart), and can't repoduce the black screen, everything works as with the "stock" one (2.4.1). What I think happend last time is: I booted in single user mode, deleted agpgart but left iopcifamily, deleted Extensions.mkext and "touched" the extensions folder, but the I just typed "exit" and booted to a black screen. My guess is that I would have needed a reboot to let the system use the new extensions (?) so agpgart was still loaded when I got the black screen. Sorry. I attached the 2 ioreg files anyway, though I don't know if they are of any help now. I guess I have to redo my tests with the different host_base values too, this time with reboot after single user mode edits. Anything else I can test/try let me know. ioreg_test.zip

I installed Leo4All (it was the only one that would even get to the installer) with no-efi stuff and no drivers except my wireless, and a coupla apps. This gives me version 10.5.2, with no ATIRadeon kexts. System profiler shows software CI and not supported for QE, ran the Leopard Graphics Update and now CI is HW Accelerated and QE is supported, however still stuck at 1024x768@60 Hz with mouse tearing, System Profiler shows as PCI card. The LGU installed ATI kexts. Then ran OpenMark, results attached. Then installed SiSagp.kext, now System Profiler shows AGP card, CI is HW Accelerated and QE is supported, however still stuck at 1024x768@60 Hz with mouse tearing. Then ran OpenMark, results attached. Versions attached, if you need/want more info, please let me know what info and how best to obtain it. I will try mouse locator and natit now, but i couldnt find the natit you mention anywhere, gonna try natit_auto BTW, where to get transparent png for mouselocator?
