Hey guys, I've been on this forum the whole last week to get my T60p working. Thehuan's solution was not working for me in the beginning but was a big help after all.

What I have:

Lenovo T60p; 8741-AE5

cpu: Intel® Core2 CPU T7200 @ 2,00 GHz

memory: 2 GB @ 667 MHz

HDD: 100GB, partioned as MBR with mac on sda1, win xp on sda2 and a data disk on sda3(now fat32, soon NTFS)

VGA: FireGl V5250 w/ 256MB; device id: 71d4

Software: Leo4All with chipset driver(ICHx) and X1600 driver. I suppose the latter isn't necessary since i had to delete them anyway.

What I did:

Downloaded this files: http://17th.name/2008/07/28/ati-firegl-v5250-for-leopard/

Readed the instructions

Deleted the files in /system/library/extensions/ (only the ones i'm gonna replace, see previous link)

Placed the new files in /system/library/extensions/

(system will come up with some authorization problems, make it work!)

chmod & chown each of the new files

touch /system/library/extensions/

exit & sudo -k

restart

/for me, this was big relief since before i started, the screen was totally unusable/

walk trough thehuan's manual on page 3 but didn't use his file (doh), skipped step 2 since i had ci and qe with step1.

did step 14 of this manual http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry498674

It's working now. CI&QE, no tearing, resolution at 1680x1050x32 and al the others can be selected too.

BUT: can close the lid, it wil get back when opened but not useable. I can see some text trough the desktop and desktop itself is not like it used to be. Also, without ac-adapter and low brightness, the backlight isn't working 100%. But i've readed some things about that on this forum. Sadly search isn't working for me right now.

once i have a image of the current install and the other stuff working, i'll start over.

Thanks to all the ones who filled this thread with possible solutions.

When changing brightness, the left side of the screen goes dark first. : (

Set backlight to High in BIOS may fix the brightness issue.

and I'm having the same lid close problem. I tried removing the ATI kext files, but it doesn't help.

I had a working setup before, but can't remember what I have change braking it.

I'll try putting original kexts back to see if they'll work.

========================================

Just did a brand-new install, only added the gfx kexts.

no, the problem still exist, and I actually found the unuseable screen results from an unsupported resolution.

I'll try to see if that's an EDID mismatch or what.

========================================

So the lid problem is from the gfx strings. I'm trying to figure out what to add/remove.

For those with the lid close problem ... try this it might help you.

Also i received some PM's regarding the black menu after patching some kexts for Qe/Ci ... So, the problem with this black menu is caused by Accelerate.framework and that is because of the ATINDRV.kext and AtiRadeonx1000 files are not working together ... Be sure first of all that AtiRadeonx1000 have the same version before you try changing the Accelerate.framework !!!

Those that want to patch the kexts ... in this treat there are a few posts that came up with the solution for that (search for hexedit and device id); thehuan made a grate how to here about that (thanks buddy :) )

cheers

Thanks for the reply.

I've tried insomnia.kext and it doesn't seem to be the same problem : (

so, things I have done:

1. Replaced DE71 with D471, and 71DE1002 with 71D41002 in ATIRadeonX1000.kext.

Got QE/CI from step one, no lid problem, no resolution change, and has mouse tearing.

2a. Inserted graphics mode into Boot.plist

Got native resolution inserted, still no lid problem, no resolution change, and has mouse tearing.

2b. Use GFXString/ATIinject (same result).

Got resolution change, fresh rate change, no more mouse tearing, but screen crashes on lid open.

Things I have tried but didn't worked:

- pmset lidwake 0

- insomnia.kext (laptop doesn't sleep when lid close even before)

also various versions of injected strings.

I'm not sure if I have tried 2a and 2b togerther,

will report any findings.

---- update ----

so I tried both 2a, and 2b.

It looks like that on lid open the screen comes back in wrong resolution and refresh rate.

and 2a will fix the resolution, but still there's no fix for refresh rate.

( "@60" doesn't seems to be supported, I got infinite restarts on startup)

I also have gone over almost every guide on the forum too...

Still looking for a fix

(Interestingly, there's no problem with screen sleep/wake, it wakes up just fine from black)

Hi

I have a F3Jp with the same EDID as rumpel0815.

I used his kexts (see here : http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...did&st=200# ) and I can get my native resolution and change for a lower.

But :

- After a few minutes (sometimes after 1 min, sometimes after 5 min) , I have some artefact on the screen , especially around moving 'things' (cursor , windows ...)

What's the cause ? What can i do ?

- I also have an external HP 22' screen ,connected on the DVI port, which EDID is 00FFFFFFFFFFFF00 22F0A92601010101 15110103802F1E78 EEB535A5564A9A25 105054A56B907100 81409500A900B300 0101010101012139 9030621A274068B0 3600D9281100001C 000000FD00304C18 5210000A20202020 2020000000FC0048 502077323230370A 20202020000000FF 00435A4437323130 33544D0A202000DB

How can i use it ?

Thanks for all

Hello Robin61,

Sorry for the delay but have allot of work to do ... Here is the atiinject that might help you. Hope you know how to replace the old one. i recomand to backup the oldest and also try to modify yourself the info.plist (not the minimal). If the EDID's are correct this atiinject sould work. Let me know how it is.

Cheers

Anybody please ? I really would like this working :dev:

Thanks you.

Here is the result :

The laptop screen turns off (with sometimes some white lines).

My external screen turns on with the wallpaper. I don't have anything else but i can manage to have the mouse cursor in this screen and create a folder (for example).

So it seems that my external screen is considered as the "extension" one and the internal screen as the main one but since i can't see anything in my internal display, it's a bit useless ;-)

Another thing, if I look closely on the black part of the wallpaper, i can see some / lines moving from right to left.

Thanks for all :(

ok, if the external works at the right res, try to boot only with the external then see if you have Qe/Ci and res change on the external. if that is positive then the driver is working so you go to next step by editing the info.plist

you should look after conector type strings and something related with the first display ... also doublecheck if the EDID is the right one for the internal display.

hope it will help

Thanks you.

Ok , i booted with external display only and it works well.

I can change resolution but Qe/Ci isn't working.

Still the / lines moving from right to left. Maybe because i'm blocked in 60Hz and can't choose 75Hz ?

I checked the EDID in plist, they were both correct.

Let's get this right OK?

AUO4087 si the description of your panel the EDID should look like:

00ffffff ffffff00 06af7421 00000000 010f0103 80211578 0a1cf597 58508e27 27505400 00000101 01010101 01010101 01010101 0101c71b 00a05020 17303020 36004bcf 10000018 0000000f 00000000 00000000 00000000 00200000 00fe0041 554f0a20 20202020 20202020 000000fe 00423135 34455730 32205631 200a00aa

If you send me the entire file with the output of your panel, obtained with Phoenix EDID Designer i'll be able to get the EDID and make an atiinject for you.

B)

Sorry righteye, my EDID is AUO4087.

Thank you in advance for doing this :)

I hope I got it right this time, I've included 2 files jsut in case. Sorry for being such a pain. :)

Yes, this time is correct.

Now, you have to download this archive and save it in the root of you boot volume. Extract and it will create a folder named patchscratch; go in that folder and edit with textedit the postpatch.sh (there is a line with Leo installation volume - look there); close and save then run the script as root in terminal. Qe/Ci and res change are enabled after reboot.

Cheers

I did what you said, righteye, and all I have now is a blue screen with nothing on it, have I done something wrong?

what version is your system ? is 10.5.2 ? if that you might nead this Asus_G2P_osx_patches. Do the same like before ... now you will have a 95% compatible system. Before aplying this patch remove the Atiinject.kext, and then aply the patch.

Cheers.

Hi everyone!

After weeks of trial and error I finally have full acceleration with my x1700. I tried files from thehuan with no luck (blank blue screen and cursor) and lemnisk8's files which gave me acceleration with 1024x768 res and graphical glitches. With more file testing I managed to get 1280x800 res and dual monitor support. Yesterday in a complete fluke I finally managed to concoct a winning combination which gave me full res and qe/ci!!

I thought id better post my files for anyone who is having similar problems as me getting their x1700's to work. I'm sorry, but I'm not really sure of the origins of these files, so i'm not quite sure who to thank. Though, I would like to thank thehuan and lemnisk for their great work in this project.

@righteye

Thanks a lot for the KEXTS, but they didn't help.

Luckily, the process of installing your kexts made me realize my mistake... After I booted the system after reinstalling the Leopard Graphics Update I checked System Profiler and it said "No Kext Loaded" for my Graphics Card, which is expected. Then, I realized that this entire time i've been using the wrong device ID. The device ID listed in System Profiler was 71D4, while I've been injecting 71D5 in all my kexts. I confirmed this by backing up a couple pages in this thread and reading gneely74's post...

I feel like a moron for doing this... unbelievable.

Well, I'll be sure to update any of the other threads as well as anyone else who has been having issued with their FireGL v5250 on Leopard after the Graphics Update -- because my system is finally working with QE/CI after the LGU!!

Thanks for inadvertently helping me notice this,

-P2

P.S. -- I'm uploading the working 10.5.2 Post LGU Kexts for ATi FireGL v5250 (71D4) here && attaching to this post.

Thank you very much for posting these as they enable QE on thnkpads with the V5250 graphics. Problem is, I have a 14" Thinkpad and the resolution is so big I'm at a mouse lock. Is there anyway you could modify this to work with the 14" T60P laptops? I wish I can do it myself, but i'm a newb and lucky I got far with patching Kalyway's 10.5.1 and upgrading it to 10.5.4 .

Thanks so much
