Successfully updated to Kalyway 10.5.3. I had to type update -v at darwin boot, then remove ATIinject.kext, ATIRadeonX1000.kext and ALCinject.kext, AppleHDA.kext but everything is back to normal.

Why i removed those 4 files? Because it will stop the system from freezing after boot up.

looks like X1700 no longer works in 10.5.3, i'll have to play around with files :) the current files, desktop freezes.

I already updated to 10.5.3 & everything work fine like before (on vanilla kernel or 9.2.2 TOH kernel) . Just edit new ATIRadeonX1000.kext (10.5.28) . I 'll try with gfx+efi thing when I have time . Good day everybody .

thehuan what exactly did you do, just use the new ATIRadeonX1000 file or did you use the ATINDRV as well? What about the ATIRadeon 1000 files, GA, VA, GL?

If i change id in ATIRadeonX1000 and restart or try to repair permissions, i get kernel panic's.

I've also updated to 10.5.3, used kalyway 10.5.3 update. There is no freezing, but QE doesn't work anymore.

Just edit your NEW 10.5.3 ATIRadeonX1000.kext/contents/MacOS/ATIRadeonX1000 file with 0xed and do the usual stuff. See some of the links in my signature for guides. It worked fine for me.

10.5.3 read's our cards in system profiler without any kexts loaded

Type: Display

Bus: PCIe

PCIe Lane Width: x16

VRAM (Total): 256 MB

Vendor: ATI (0x1002)

Device ID: 0x71d5

Revision ID: 0x0000

Displays:

Display:

Resolution: 1024 x 768

Core Image: Software

Main Display: Yes

Quartz Extreme: Not Supported

But i hex edited all the required files, but ATIRadeonX1000.kext v1.5.28.21 (5703) when i place inside Extensions folder i get a kernel panic. no matter what way i install it, i cannot get past the kernel panic.

I'm using all new files

ATINDRV v1.5.28.21 (5703)

ATIRadeonX1000GA.plugin v1.5.28.21 (5703)

ATIRadeonX1000GLDriver.bundle v1.5.28.21 (5703)

ATIRadeonX1000VADriver.bundle v1.5.28.21 (5703)

Only file i cannot load is the new ATIRadeonX1000 files, i've even tryed using old ATINDRV, GA and GL and VA files mix and match but still get kernel panic, tryed using old ATIRadeonX1000 file but my laptop freezes after starting up.

Don't know what i'm doing wrong. I've matched code side by side with old files and new files.

i got my resolution to work, but QE will not work without new ATINDRV, i got the card to work on v1.5.24 but no QE.

10.5.3 is a pain lol, will play around later.

I'm currently using these files:

ATINDRV v1.5.24.9

ATIRadeonX1000.kext v1.5.28.21 (5703)

ATIRadeonX1000GA.plugin v1.5.28.21 (5703)

ATIRadeonX1000GLDriver.bundle v1.5.28.21 (5703)

ATIRadeonX1000VADriver.bundle v1.5.28.21 (5703)

ATINDRV without plugin sub-folder actually is ATINDRV from 10.4.5 or 10.4.7 with modified info.plist to fake version , so you can safely use two old ATINDRV (from my experiment , only ATINDRV from 10.4.5 & 10.4.7 can work with ATI X1700 mobile)

About the new ATIRadeonX1000.kext , edit device-id in info.plist is not enough & make kernel panic . You must hex edit ATIRadeonX1000 file in content folder : replace DE71 with D571 or whatever is your device-id .

You can use old ATIinject , NatitX1700 , ATINDRV with new edited ATIRadeonX1000.kext to get resolution , QE/CI .

PS : Anyone know how to make real new ATINDRV to work with X1700 please post.

@Xess666 : sorry I can't upload kext , my ISP is so suck now . I am waiting for new ISP .

@blackbumer : I updated to 10.5.3 & everything work fine .

Here is my edited 10.5.3 ATIRadeonX1000.kext (for 71D5) . ATIinject or Natit , ATINDRV is same as 10.5.2 . If your device-id is not 71D5 , hex edit 10.5.3 ATIRadeonX1000.kext/Contents/ATIRadeonX1000 & replace D071 with your id (ex: D571) . There is two occurences & no need to replace anything else. Finally , replace 71D0 with your id in info.plist .

@all: I 've successfully used ATI-EFI to replace ATIinject.kext & get a very stable driver . Here is my files . If you use my X1700.plist don't forget to replace my EDID with yours & use gfxutil to reconvert it to hex file.

Instruction to use GFX-EFI is here

Remember to remove ATIinject.kext when using it . I use it with ATINDRV.kext from 10.4.5 & 10.4.7 . If you can use it with newer ATINDRV.kext please post .

Fresh install of 10.5.3, video drivers can load but without QE/CI, no point at this stage, i will try your GFX-EFI but i dont think its going to fix the problem.

thanks, will report soon.

GFX-EFI is not miracle . If you can't get working driver with ATIinject , GFX-EFI can't help .

I will upload my complete kext file for ATIinject style . When you get working driver with this , you can try with GFX-EFI to get more stable driver.

My files is modified for my id 71D5 & my EDID . If yours is different then modify it to suit yours.

If you get 10.5.2 working driver , keep your ATIinject (or Natit) & ATINDRV to use with new ATIRadeonX1000 (10.5.3)

If you can get full resolution but no QE/CI , I think your ATIRadeonX1000 is hex edited wrongly . If you want post your id-device , i 'll mod it for you.

To mod ATIRadeonX1000 :

Step 1 : edit ATIRadeonX1000/Contents/info.plist to replace 71D0 with your id (ex : 71D5)

Step 2 : hex edit ATIRadeonX1000/Contents/MacOS/ATIRadeonX1000 --> replace D071 with your id (ex : D571) . There is only 2 occurences . Don't replace anything else.

Use new ATIRadeonX1000 with your old ATIinject or Natit . To debug use ATIinject or Natit without ATIRadeonX1000.

I ended up using finetuned's ATi files for the T60P V5250 and everythign work i got QE working CI and the resolution looks great. But any time the display shuts off... the screen comes back all garbled and i have backlighting issues. I tried editing atiinject Backlighting key to 0 and that didnt do anything. Is there anyway i could fix these problems. I have read throu the entire forum and im not sure what needs to be done.

I am running 10.5.2 with LGU

I'm doing a fresh(and first) install of kalyway 10.5.2. Whats the easiest way for me to go to get work gfx card(x1700 as talked about here). Also you talk about EDID what are they and how do i get mine?

Would i be better off doing the install first then working out gfx drivers or should i do something before install as i have read you can add drivers to the install disk.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

-=UPDATE=-

I have found my EDID using a program called softMCCS on windows

This is what it gave me:

00FFFFFFFFFFFF00 06AF874000000000 010F010380251778 0A6876A25A499F23 134F540000000101 0101010101010101 0101010101019E25 A04051840C304020 33006FE510000018 0000000F00000000 0000000000000000 0020000000FE0041 554F0A2020202020 20202020000000FE 0042313730505730 34205630200A00DB

Am i on the right track here?

Hi, I'm trying to get my Asus W2P resolution working fully but have kinda hit a block (this notebook uses the X1700 with the same id of 0x71D5)

Currently:

- I'm running 10.5.3

- I've removed ATIRadeonX1000 and ATINDRV and just trying out ATIinject alone.

- Added my edid for my notebook's display to the latest ATIinject file (tried both RightEye's and Eternal404's) from this thread.

- I can only get max of 1600x1200 even though my display is 1920x1200.

Questions:

- It looks like the resolutions that the system displays are all 4:3 aspect ratio. Is there some option somewhere to change it to widescreen (16:9) (maybe that's why the system displays 1600x1200 even though I specify 1920x1200).

- What is the proper way of changing resolutions? I had to put a boot parameter "Graphics Mode"="1920x1200x32" to change the resolution.

- Does it matter that phoenix edid gives a message that my edid version from my monitor is 1.2 and it will convert it?

Model: Asus W2P

My edid:

00FFFFFF FFFFFF00 320C0A0B 00000000 000F0103 80251778 0A9E1598 57538C2A 26505400 00000101 01010101 01010101 01010101 0101483F 80F070B0 32403020 13006FE6 10000019 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00FE004C 47506869 6C697073 4C43440A 0000FE4C 50313731 5755312D 41344B34 0A2000D1

Thanks for any help.
