Hello there,

I followed the topic from the start, but still couldn't get my x1700 to work. I've got a F3JP-as057c; my x1700 supports 1440x900 with 256mb of vram.

Righteye, I tried the "F3jp" 1 & 2 from your installer, but both of them left me with a black screen.

Recently tried to edit the files putting my edid, but it didn't work so far. I'm still stuck at 1024*768.

My dev ID is 71D5, my EDID (from Phoenix):

00ffffff ffffff00 4ca313a1 01010101 18100103 1e000078 0ede50a3 544c9926 0f5054ff ff806159 a9408159 8199714f 45593159 31ca4c1d 00304100 26301888 36000000 00000018 000000fe 000a2020 20202020 20202020 20200000 00fd0032 550f5c10 000a2020 20202020 000000fc 00455053 4f4e2050 4a202020 200a0080

Could you please add my card to the installer ? :(

Thanks in advance,

Youri

F3JP Ati X1700 max resolution is 1280x800 not 1440x900, doesnt make sense to me

15.4" screen so that would allow the card to goto 1280x800 am i incorrect on this?

Also you need to change EDID and device id's to get the card to work

atlee, 1440*900 is the right resolution of my model.

I'm gonna retry to change the edid, but I'd be nice that righteye adds it to his installer :P

Thanks again and keep up the good work,

Youri

righteye would also need the correct hexidecimal device id code to also add to the installer, im sure righteye has better things to do as he has already spent alot of his time on this stuff.

its not that eternal404 just play around till it works

Also you have right about the time i have ;) , but i want to see all happy here i will make installers for all the machines like AsusG2Pinstaller, AsusF3JPinstaller, AsusA8JPinstaller etc but i need the EDID from all here and the specification of machine.

This is it. But please post more EDID so i can collect those more accurate, kinda messy right now :D. Something like:

Machine model: Asus G2P

EDID: <the EDID>

Also please correct me if something is wrong about the files i provide, and make tests. I think now all here should have managed to have the video 100% compatible and also be able to use a second monitor.

Here are some other files for LGU to test before i release an installer:

Thanks to altee for this files

This are files I'm using

ATiinject withouth info.plist

Thanks to thehuan, rumpel0815, altee, lemnisk8, torpie13, kozlowski, python1564, fallouttt, nesek17, Xess666, diablo1, Surban, bien_van_khat, DiaboliK (not necessary in this order) and all that interacted with this treat so far. Hope to manage to see you all happy ;)

I'm waiting your results.

Here i'll post my versions with and without LGU files. And also i will tell you my EDID and what i edited just incase the questions arise from other people.

First file is "atlee_F3JP_without_LGU" Leopard only

ATINDRV v1.4.32.17

ATIRadeonX1000 v1.5.16.0

Both the above files don't really need to be edited unless you didn't get it from other members from this section of the board.

ATIinject --> the device id for me in hex code is:

<key>IOPCIMatch</key>

<string>0x00001002&0x0000ffff</string>

<key>LVDS,EDID</key>

<data>

AP///////wAGr3QhAAAAAAEPAQOAIRV4Chz1l1hQjicn

UFQAAAABAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBxxsAoFAgFzAwIDYA

S88QAAAYAAAADwAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAgAAAA/gBBVU8K

ICAgICAgICAgAAAA/gBCMTU0RVcwMiBWMSAKAKo=

</data>

that's all that needs to be edited in ATIinject, info.plist file.

Second file "atlee_F3JP_with_LGU" Leopard 10.5.2 only because of LGU update

ATINDRV v1.5.24.9

ATIRadeonX1000 1.5.24.9

ATIinject --> SAME AS ABOVE

If yours is same as mine, use my files.

Also righteye i'm taking that info1.plist file from you, you got a newer version EFI v1.4 not 1.3 and a few settings have changed in it, going to give that ATIinject file a run :) thanks

i've installed LGU from software update and used kext provided by atlee

but can't boot with them

if i remove ATIinject

boot is okay

but resolution still is low , i tried "Graphical Mode"="1440x900x32" at boot but it doen't help (without ATIinject i bet)

My Device ID 71D5

My ATI x1700 has 256 MB ram(fisical memory) and 1440x900 Resolution

i edited info.plist in ATIinject(provided by atlee) with Property Edit and inserted there my EDID shown 1 post above but can't boot with it

i'm stuck

could u help?

Hi all, I've been following this post for the last couple weeks. I can get QE/CI working with Righteye's LGU Kexts by installing ATINDRV.kext and ATIRadeonx1000.kext which looks nice except I get some small mouse tears. I get the same results as Diablo and Surban with the ATIinject.kext that is I get full changeable resolution (1440x900) but the backlight blinks briefly on startup and goes out. If there is anything I can do to help out let me know I'm excited with the progress that everyone has made :thumbsup_anim:

blackbumer my card works at max res 1280x800, so my stuff might not work

wierd we must have all the same X1700 model but it all changes with different laptop screen sizes which create different resolutions.

meaning we all need different ATIinject files to make our cards work.

thats my thoughts.

Hey,

I finally got it working with blackbumer's kexts. I'm currently running Leo in 1440*900 with Qe/Ci enabled.

These files should work for Thyraz and all the people who own a F3Jp-AS057c (1440*900, 256mb vram) with 10.5.2 update and LGU.

Dev ID : 71d5

EDID : (coming soon)

Thanks to Righteye and all the ones who gave their time to make this possible :D

Youri

(P.S: It seems like the EDID that Phoenix gave me was wrong. Probably because of the absence of ATI drivers; it has given me a generic EDID.)

Cool

Glad to see that you managed to figure out the problems, and solved the Qe/Ci and res change thing...

Downloaded eternal404's kexts. All are like the ones i use. The only thing different is in the Atiinject info.plist the string:

on mine

<key>IOPCIMatch</key><string>0x71d51002</string>

on eternal404's

<key>IOPCIMatch</key><string>0x00001002&0x0000ffff</string>

and of course ... the EDID is different

Possible to be here the cause of troubles and also a bad EDID.

Someone here tried the gfx stuff ?

Cheers

This are my last files i use:

You can use my files in the folder or eternal404's files ... He is the las one that reported success on enabling the Qe/Ci and res change.

What you have to do is to replace the kexts in

/System/Library/Extensions - just drag and drop the extracted files in that folder (only the kexts) and authorize entering your password ...

then in terminal do this:

sudo -s

YOUR_PASSWORD

chmod -R 755 $LEO/System/Library/Extensions/* && chown -R root:wheel $LEO/System/Library/Extensions/*

reboot

Remember that ATiinject.kext is not changed since 2007 ... just small thing in the info.plist and the LVDS,EDID that suits with the EDID from your machine.

To extract the EDID use Phoenix EDID Designer 1.3 under Windows. Be sure to have the drivers installed, if not, the EDID will be an generic one so no functional.

If you do not manage to place the EDID ... just post it here and i'll make the info.plist for you.

Thanks to ALL,

Cheers

 After spending huge amout of time. I think I could say the problem with ASUS a8jp does not lie in the ATIinject or Natitx1700. I have the same notebook with Xess666 (by same I mean exactly the same, the same resolution, same EDID, same device ID). I've found that whatever combination of ATIinject (Natitx1700), ATINDRV and ATIRadeonx1000 files I used, and whatever the outcome was (including strange color stripes, full resolution or split screens), there is only one thing in common: THERE IS NO BACKLIGHT. The best I can get is to use NatitX1700.kext thehuan(Thanks to you for having helped me so much on this topic, though you didn't even know me ~) uploaded(it's on #63) ; the ATINDRV with 10.52 LGU update(By righteye, another person I should thank, at post #161) and ATIRadeonx1000.kext from some x1600 driver(I cannot remember where I get it~). I use leo4all v3 final, and I think it should have got 10.52 LGU update. The result is QE/CI working, at full resolution , whether tearing mouse I'm not sure because the screen is black (with no backlight). I even tried to change the AAPL backlight control from 1 to 0 (in the atiinject or Natitx1700) but it just didn't work.

I think I could conclude for ASUS A8JP, there is nothing wrong with ATIRadeonx1000.kext, ATINDRV.kext but just the ATIinject or Natitx1700, and there should be nothing wrong with EDID or device ID if you can get everything ok except the backlight. There must be something that we can do about the backlight. Is is possible to get it into work by changing some other files or simply the inject?

:) Anyway, I think at least we narrow the problem down thus we can tackle it in a easier manner. Cheers!

:D I had a look at that linux thing and I don't think I could have the ability to get it ported to mac@_@. I am not sure whether that thing would help if ported to mac. In fact, the function keys (including the Fn+F7 one which is used to switch on and off backlight) do work before the installation of the Inject or Natit.

As to AppleSMCPlatform.kext, I don't even have the least idea what it is :D but i will try it as long as I have time.

Is there anyone else who have the same problem with backlight?

I have the same problem. I have an Asus A8jp with Leo4All v3. I can get QE/CI working with ATIreadonx1000 and ATINDRV. With that combination Fn+F7 will turn off and on the backlight and the Fn brightness works too. However with every ATIinject I use I either get vertical bars or full resolution but I always get no backlight and Fn+F7 no longer works. Lets hope we can work together and find a solution. Cheers

Maybe righteye or someone can help me with this, The 3d drivers dont 100% work, for e.g. yes it runs my desktop applications fine but when playing games, the screen can go fuzzy and f*** the game up, i can only run on my max res and not lower res or the screen sizes dont look right, aspect ratio i mean.

Also i can get dual screens working, but using Fn + F7 or F8 makes screen go fuzzy

Switching between LCD and CRT buttons do not work, well the functions work, but screen gets scrambled.

Anyone fully tested the 3d drivers?

I think it has to do with inside the kexts, configuration somewhere?

The symptoms, you describe here, are normal ... If you want to use an external LCD you should plug it before boot and do not touch the Fn+switch thing. When playing games use just the onboard LCD. Also i wonder what games you play? Are Cider ported or native mac games? Sometimes with the ported to Cider games you have to include in the config.ini file some custom res in order to be able to play.

Sorry ... but is above me to help you with this ... I have the same "issues" here.

Able to play on max res with no hang but i am able to change res in game:

Quake 4 - native

Command and Conquer 3 - Cider ported

Close Combat First to Fight - native

Star Craft Pack - native

Battlefield 2142 - Cider ported

A better solution for our graphic card is ATi GFX + EFI. I have no time to make the tests ... maybe some of you can do it and give us a reply.

Cheers
