peach-os
they are sata 3 Gb/s configured ?You 're probably right, i'll have to try with another pair of disk or some kext i missed in the instalation did you tried to configure a soft raid with disk utility and after hook it to orange sata ports ? in the manual:for best results use serial ata 3.0 Gb/s hard disk drives listed in the EZ-backup compatibility list.visit the asus website for details because the steelvine controller is connected to the fourth ich7 port, the whole bandwith is only 3gb/s - so two s-ata I drives should bring also good results - but for some reason they don´t. tested it and better results with s-ata II. softraid and then connect to EZ backup?? two different things .....didn´t try it, but I´m pretty sure that EZ backup won´t recognize the disks as a raid config...weired idea

Han S
Strange network problem ASUS P5W DH Deluxe + Kalyway 10.5.1 Hi guys, A few months ago I had succesfully install Kalyway 10.5.1 on my P5W DH Deluxe. Everything worked just like this link told "http://xiwen.de/blog/index.php/2008/01/07/der-perfekte-mac/" unfortunately this link is dead. Another similar link is this "http://macapper.com/2008/01/19/diy-hackint...c-pro-for-cheap" The bios settings of these links are the same. I followed these settings to install Kalyway 10.5.1. There is one thing I didn't folow. I chose MBR insteed of GUID; I did chose GUID first but ended up that installed Kalyway 10.5.1 only booted up with the install DVD inside the player. So I chose MBR and the installed Kalyway 10.5.1 booted without the install DVD. My spec are: ASUS P5W DH Deluxe with bios version 2206 Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 Corsair memory 3 X 1GB ASUS GT7300 Silent 256MB videocard Nec DVD recorder PATA Samsung 160GB SATA(I) HD HD had 3 partition: Leopard, XP and Data. I had a dualboot system. Recently I bough an Samsung 320GB SATA(II) HD and wanted to transfer Kalyway 10.5.1 from Samsung 160GB to Samsung 320GB by using the following methodes: 1. Back up with Carbon Copy Cloner 3.11 dierctly to Samsung 320GB (Leopard partition). Result: a blinking cursor. 2. Back up with Super Duper 2.5 dierctly to Samsung 320GB (Leopard partition). Result: a blinking cursor. 3. Back up with Super Duper 2.5 as a DMG file to Samsung 320GB (Data partition, this partition is Extended Journaled). Restore with Mac own Disk Utility. Result: a blinking cursor. 4. Back up with Mac own Disk Utility as a DMG file to Samsung 320GB (Data partition, this partition is Extended Journaled). Restore with Mac own Disk Utility. Result: a blinking cursor. So I installed a fresh Kalyway 10.5.1 on my new Samsung 320GB SATA(II) HD using the same settings as I did with Samsung 160GB SATA(I) HD. After install and a restart, everything seemed OK. But there is no internet connection, because there is no ethernetacrd (that's what the hardware profile showed). Only the firewirecard is shown. It seemed there was no ethernet connection at all, the led at the UTP connector of the motherboard didn't light up or blink. Even the led of my router where the UTP cabel is connected didn't light up or blink. There was also something weird with the connction. When I swich on the computer the led of my router where the UTP cabel is connected and the led at the UTP connector of the motherboard did light up!!! But when the Apple screen showed up (dark grey Apple logo on light grey background) I saw those leds turned off!!! It seemed there is wen somthing wrong during the boot procedure. But I still don't know what. If I booted up XP (I have a dualboot system), there is network connection! If I hook up the Samsung 160GB SATA(I) HD back, then there is connection again while in Leopard. I am sure there is no hardware issue. Do anyone know the problem/solution? peach-os
the things you are talking about are all common problems. you will find all the solutions including the boot problem without dvd. use this http://www.google.com/coop/cse?cx=00948655...297:e41g72sr-ba I´m pretty sure that the reason for your network problem is that you didn´t choose the right options on the second install. the p5w mainboard is probably the easiest mainboard to install 100 % working os x on it
Han S
Hi peach-os, Thanks for reply. But I think read to fast; you missed something. I have installed succesfully Kalyway 10.5.1 on a Samsung 160GB SATA1 HD. I had followed the instruction from the link (see above). When I tried the same with Samsung 320GB SATA2 HD. After succesfully installed and reboot; there is just no network connection. The only option of the network during install is Realtek WIFI. I never chose that both by install. Han S no - I did read.but personally I wouldn´t consider having os x installed on an mbr partition instead of guid because of the dvd boot problem is a success. you will miss a few advantages. there are much better instructions in this forum than on that site you used. in this thread you will find almost every solution http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=68453 installing kaly 10.5.1 there are network settings for the pw5dh (not wireless). an other possibilty is that you install the IONetworkingFamily.kext from your working install. I resolved with the new AppleHDA. through the same
avatar382
I'm having a strange issue with sleep. The machine will sleep and wake correctly exactly once. After that once, if I try to have the machine sleep again, it will not enter a full sleep mode. The ethernet device will turn off and it sounds like the hard drives is spinning down, but the fans keep running at normal speed, and the system will not wake. The first time, if I try to wake from sleep with the keyboard, the screen will not power on. It works (just once) when I wake the computer by using the power button. I don't really mind the annoyance of having to hit the power button, but a sleep function that works only once isn't much better than having a sleep function at all. I've tried this several times, with a variety of BIOS settings. (It will only sleep once set to S3. Resume video BIOS on wake doesn't seem to matter) I don't see any consistent notices in the system.log file. Specs: ASUS P5WDH 4 GB ECC RAM ASUS GeForce 8800GT 512MB (Nvinject) 3 Samsung LCDs connected to a Matrox TripleHead2Go (the OS is only aware of a single "monitor") Pentium Dual-Core E2140 @ 2.66GHz (bus overclocked to 1333, nothing else overclocked) IBM Model M keyboard connected to Radio Shack PS2 to USB adapter Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical USB Macnally FireWire enclosure with 500GB drive for Time Machine 2 Seagate SATA 160GB drives, 1 with OSX, 1 with Vista 1 WD 1TB GreenPower SATA drive Any ideas? Thanks! Edit: Forgot to mention: Using Kalyway. Installed of the 10.5.1 CD, system has been upgraded to 10.5.4. I am running the AHCI fix to get rid of the orange icons, and NVinject. You don,'t have to fix AHCI with this mobo keep the vanilla if you want to get rid of orange icons the only kext to mod is IOAHCIFamily.kext here the definitive list of modification to get what is far the best mobo i've tried (with perfect sleep and wake) Remove only : AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext Mod : IOAHCIFamily.kext (orange icons) AppleHDA.kext Add : AppleSMBIOSEFI.kext link dsmos.kext com.apple.Boot.plist (with efi string) About WIFI ; i can't get working with the realtek driver the USB WLAN application jump in the dock and that's all If someone could help me Thank's to all
mr.mcgoo
I tried the Boot 132 iso listed here and on that thread and neither let me get past the space desktop. The one listed here tells me to restart on the white apple screen and the first one on the original Boot 132 thread get to space screen but stays there with the ball icon spinning. I'm using bios 2704 now. I'm using the bios settings listed here...
