Asus P5W DH Deluxe thread for 10.5.x Leo - 10.9.x Mavericks

I tried to update to 10.5.7 via software update and separate download, but I get the "still waiting for root device" error

I did not change any of the kexts in the extra folder from 10.5.6 and these included ACHI kexts I required before.

Does anyone have any ideas, or a set of kexts that work with 10.5.7

Originally my system was from a Kalyway 10.5.2 install with updates.

thanks

Paul

Sounds like you aren't using the disabler.kext to bypass the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext

possible reparation for hda enabler but not fuction for me.

For legacy HDA 10.5.7 to work.

HDAenabler needs edit in plisteditpro to work on 10.5.7

actual HDAenabler info.plist (open contents) says near end of file:

CODE <key>com.apple.kernel.iokit</key>

<string>6.9.9</string>

need to say:

CODE <key>com.apple.kernel.iokit</key>

<string>7.9.9</string>

ideas????

hello, i've been using my p5wdh for a while now, and i was just wondering if there was an extensions.mkext floating around or a good solid way to have EVERYTHING working yet without ever having to fix a driver again, like the alc882, i have to reinstall it with every update, and the original mkext for this board posted by macita doesn't have hpet disabler and DOES include nvinject which will totally stop your nvidia card from getting qe/ci, so what i would like to know is this:

is there a boot cd or mkext that keeps audio enabled, disables hpet and doesn't include anything for nvidia (use efi fix) , i also can't seem to get the retail disc to boot my 9800 card, if i swap cards its boots the disc just fine, anyone can help?

Sounds like you are not using the Chameleon 2.0 bootloader. Redo the hard drive from the ground up, reinstall OSX and then install the bootloader. All your changes, necessary kexts, EFI strings, etc, go in the Extras folder and you leave the original install clean and untouched. Should survive any updates from Apple and not break things.

Why do you want to disable HPET? PS I never use injectors, but YMMV.

i am using the bootloader, i'm aware that you put the kexts in the extras folder, otherwise this wouldn't be working at all, but what i'm asking is, is there a way to make the onboard sound not disable with every update, i am unaware of a method of getting the alc882 to work with a kext in the extras folder, and the macita mkext has injectors built into it, i was just asking if anyone had made one with them out.

Oh now I see, what you need are the modified audio kexts to place in the extras folder that would survive an update. Let me dig around and see if I still have those as I switched to a Gigabyte board a while back.

guys, I've been using my P5-W based OSX machine for a long while. I started with Leo4all v3 and upgraded from 10.5.2 to 10.5.5 by carefully reading many many many posts here and elsewhere. It's time to upgrade to 10.5.7 and I'm getting confused with the discussion here. I don't fully understand all this stuff and made it this far by simply following instructions cobbled together from many sources -- there was much trial and error too. What's the easiest way to proceed? I'd use the instructions quoted here, but I have no idea if I meet the requirements in the first sentence. I didn't use retail (used leo4all v3 to start) and I don't know if I'm boot132 or now.

So my question is...how to I proceed? I'm uploading the instructions I used to get to 10.5.5. Can I simply re-do this for 10.5.7, are there additional steps, are some of my current steps out of date (I'm getting that impression from this discussion). I'm happy to be sent to other posts if the answer is there, but I honestly would appreciate a simply set of steps like the ones quoted here.

I appreciate it...I know it sucks having to constantly answer the same newbie questions.

the function of boot 132 is use real osx disc installing.

efi 9 or chamaleon 2rc1 is create a sub extra folder for put yours kext and not touch original installation. "sorry for my english".

normally have the opportunity to update without problems, in 10.5.7 only replace applehda.kext for 10.5.6, i dont like this, but so far there is no other solution, or aliab idea, reinstall old audio kext.

We were all noobs once. The EASIEST way seems to be just booting off of an existing install that works, format a second drive, install 10.5.6 (which is the retail disk now), install Chameleon so that it boots and then add whatever kexts you need to make your system work in the Extras/Extensions folder and make this new drive your first bootable drive in your system. Then upgrade to 10.5.7 and don't forget to save whatever working AppleHDA kexts you have that are working because you'll need them again. This method leaves the original installation completely untouched.

If you have never used PCWiz's installer program, try it out, works great.

Hey guys, with those needing to delete AppleHPET to get full speed usb etc - have any of you tried mucking around with their DSDT to find an alternate solution?

Tried creating a new DST using the --newhpet option or similar in the patcher your using? Can you keep AppleHPET.kext in then? Anyone looking through their DST code to remove multiple APIC methods? (I saw this on another thread with an AMI bios, this was his solution to fixing HPET properly)?

Also with those that want to swap kext's less between version upgrades, try using voodoohda for sound, works fine between 10.5.x versions, and even works fine in snow leopard (if your really concerned about not needing to change kexts in the future hehe).

please post your Extensions.mkext or all kexts used

To get it to work you don't need much. Dsmos for Snow Leopard (not the same as dsmos for Leopard) and remove AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext or have it disabled with NullCPUPowerManagement.kext. It will boot fine with just that. Boot first in x32, then use kext utility and then x64 should work. Oh ya, Chameleon2 with efi v10 or is a must.

It is better to use x64 kexts because they will work in both x32 and x64. I recommend you find these x64 kexts (they must be the "special recompiled" x64 versions:

NullCPUPowerManagement.kext

dsmos.kext

VoodooHDA.kext

JMicronATA.kext

Hey all, i finallly got Snow Leopard 10A411 working!

well at least in 32-bit mode. When i boot up in 64-bit, it says "Waiting for DSMOS.." For some reason it doesn't load dsmos.kext and Disabler.kext. Is this due to the fact that in my Extra folder i have them in an Extensions.mkext?

hmm i'll try it without the mkext and see what happens. And yes, i have the 64-bit dsmos.kext.

Greetings, all:

Recently I upgraded my fully working 10.5.6 outfit to 10.5.7 using patches found on this site and at www.mystiquemac.com.

All went well, and everything was back up after a few common tweaks except for a persistent problem with audio input. HD Audio Output is recognized, but nothing at all is picked up for audio input. My 10.5.6 install recognized an internal microphone, and line-in on my mbo and output for internal speakers, headphones, line out and digital out. Now, only HD Audio Output is available and nothing else.

I've been up and down this forum and others looking for a fix. Any help on this would be appreciated. Others seem to have issues getting audio output, and there are some fixes out there for that. The problem of audio input doesn't seem to be addressed anywhere... at least not that I can find.

Thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction.
