I just used surround sound on my p5w. I'm not sure what kext i'm using but i'll post them if you'd like. Its an AppleHDA.kext and and HDAEnabler.kext.

I'm using 10.5.6 btw.

If you can post the kext's it will be great. Thanks!

just got a native install set up almost perfectly using chameleon 2.0rc1. i'd been using leo4all v2 as a base for a long time and i have to say i'm very pleased with how the full retail install's gone. i've just added in a spare IDE drive on the jmicron controller. all my sata ports are being used on larger drives and i just want something small to install windows on. i want to keep it totally on another drive and completely untouched by anything mac related. all i want is for chameleon to see the drive and let me boot it. i think i read somewhere before about an older version of chameleon patched so it works with jmicron controllers. am i right in thinking i will have to wait for a newer version with jmicron support to be released? or am i just missing something simple? has anyone here got a jmicron ide drive being picked up by the new chameleon?

many thanks,

mass

How did you go about getting chameleon 2 rc1 to work? did you use an existing install to put it on another hd or did you start from scratch? which guide did you follow or maybe you could write a guide for us new to retail installs with the latest chameleon.

I would also like to know how you installed Chameleon 2.0rc1. I tried, but everytime my computer started up, it would reboot when it got to the bootloader. So i went back to EFIv9

@MaDDoGo:

Here are my kexts!

did you flag the active partition in terminal? thats where i went wrong with it.

yeah, it was all done from an existing install. i started off with a leo4all v2 install. then followed munkys guide for booting from the EFI partition but substituting his files for the chameleon ones. after this was done i used a second hard drive with a restored image of my retail disc and used chameleon to boot from that. it's so much easier than using boot cds or whatever. then i erased the main partition on my leo4all drive and installed from the retail disc. and because my bootloader was already installed on the EFI partition untouched by everything that had just happened the system booted first time and everything is pretty much perfect.

what i can say is that i found it a lot easier using an mkext rather than separate extensions. just follow the steps for using legacyHDA and replace the extension section of munkys guide with it.

all i have in my mkext is...

AppleDecrypt.kext

LegacyHDAController.kext

HDAEnabler.kext

LegacyHDAPlatformDriver.kext

IntelCPUPMDisabler.kext

LegacyIOAHCIBlockStorage.kext

JMicronATA.kext

graphic card and ethernet strings are in the boot plist.

Guys im stuck completely for months. I seem to be the only one with this.

I got a p5w dh deluxe, and im running 10.5.6

"almost" everything is working fine, but the USB is NOT.

The top 2 usb ports, or most left 2, whichever way u look at the mobo, work by miracle sometimes, but a lot of the times they dont.

I got my usb mouse and keyboard in the lower 2 of the 4 usb ports, so im sure those ALWAYS work.

But my webcam and external HD are in the top 2 USB ports, and 8/10 times dont work.

Those 2 out of 10 times they do work, its more luck than knowledge, because i dont know wtf is going wrong ^_^

yeah, i used to have that problem. it also stopped my internal PCI USB card working and i stayed on 5.5 for months because of it. it's something really simple too. all you have to do is delete appleHPET.kext in the extensions folder and you should have working usb again.

hope that works,

Here are my kexts!

First - BIG THNX !!!! ( haven't tried it yet.. but thnx for sharing ! )

little 3 things i think are missing:

A. questions: Can you hear with ALL the 5.1 speakers together in Itunes specifically ?

B. your CODEC dump txt...

i use ALC882 address 2 codec from HERE as TARUGA wrote in THIS thread. ( and then of course applied them using his tool... )

C. your ALCinject.kext

as i little understand OS X 10.5 system, i think this file relate also to the sound drivers.

isn't it like the NVinect ? same principle ?

I'll most appreciate if you could publish those 2 files also...

THNX !

There is no codec dump and the ALCInject.kext drivers are old. Use the kexts

i provided, it is a modified AppleHDA.kext and an HDAEnabler kext that allows you to

use your soundcard. I downloaded them from somewhere so i'm not taking any credit

for them.

yes i can hear all of the speakers in itunes.

you have the DSDT.aml?

if you have, only need the kexts

AppleDecrypt.kext (not sure)

AppleSMBIOSEFI.kext ( is not essential)

and audio

may EFI I use only this.

USB is working so so on p5w dh deluxe

for fix it manually:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=117029

Chameleon USB fix is included in the 2.0RC1 installer, u can chose it checking option during installer...reinstall it if u didnt do before.

If some is bad on 10.5.6 with the p5w dh deluxe delete the applehpet.kext or disable it

Iv never used the dsdt.aml patched on my asus...because wrks fine also without it (just delete this fu@@#ing AppleHPET.kext)!

BIOS 2801 seems works better with 10.5.6 but i suggest to use the 2704 since you can chose ehci hand off enable or disable for your usb!

BIOS 2704 still the best till 10.5.5...

P.S. no dsdt.aml patch = reboot, sleep and powerf off working 100%

hope now you are ok ..

Dont msg me in private pls, im changing my hardware setup got the MSI P45 Platinum and im testing it for AUDIO PRO programs...

Well guys i solved that problem too!

^^Make sure you have the properly patched jmicron kext if your using the ide on the jmicron chip. Other wise your ide should work fine on the other ide slot.

ALSO, another question,

Has anyone successfully installed Chameleon 2.0rc1 on our mobo with a GUID partitioned HD??

I can't seem to get it to work at all. When i reboot after installing chameleon, the bootloader GUI is about to load (shows the spinning \) but then it reboots and continues in that cycle. Anyone having the same problem as

I had the same problem, it was a usb external harddisk that did it , as soon as i removed the ext usb disk it went smooth.

So try that first , remove all unnecesery usb devices

gest regards Corpuser

hey...

I got the same problem under bios version 2602..

The problem is well known in asus.com forums - check them out, they have many solutions there.

start google for the term "EFI STRING" and you favorite hardware...

Here some for start:

1. EFI String

10.5.7 updated easily and fine on my P5W. Lost audio and had to reinstall but everything else appears fine.

I tried to update to 10.5.7 via software update and separate download, but I get the "still waiting for root device" error

I did not change any of the kexts in the extra folder from 10.5.6 and these included ACHI kexts I required before.

Does anyone have any ideas, or a set of kexts that work with 10.5.7

Originally my system was from a Kalyway 10.5.2 install with updates.

thanks

Paul
