H-E-L-P....!!!!!

HOW CAN I GET 5.1 SURROUND SUPPORT using OSX 10.5.6 ?!

After i upgraded, I lost my ability to hear with all 5.1 speakers simultaneous:

Currently only the front OR rear speakers work - BUT NOT AT THE SAME TIME ! ( not even quadrophonic )

I know there is something called "Legacy AppleHDA" for ALC882 v4 (v5 is not out yet ), and as i said i have only stereo support currently working using the knowledge from this link:Here

So then, Proud owners of P5w DH & surround systems....

Have you managed to solve this problem after upgrading the OS to 10.5.6 ?

do you know where I can get the Kext or guides ?

PLEASE SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND HELP ! :(

I'm REALLY frustrate. :(

Thanks !

Hi again,

After few days of test (BIOS 2704), I CAN SAY ...new bootloader UEFI (eprom 037g0) works fine with our wonderfull ASUS P5WDH Deluxe....

I can put on rapidshare the files to use, is basically the bootloader with eeprom 037g0 + a working dsdt.aml (not loaded) and some extrakexts included the legacyHDA.... is not included the EFISTRINGS for the video...but is included the one of the Time Machine (the file dev-props.dat can contains the HEX EFI StRINGS)

Before to put the file on rapidshare i want that u guys understand how this bootloader works, so go to read there: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=157287

Once u downlaod the file bootsector.rar u can find some instructions....

We dont need to switch AHCI off....

19/03/2009

UPDATED

Eeprom 038a works better then 037g0, loads extra_kext and dsdt.aml

The problem is that it boots only for ICH7 chipset, so dont boot from Jmicron.

Works also with the retail install dvd 10.5.6

still testing...

Has anyone with P5w Dh deluxe tried this release or the "v1" version?

XxX_x86_10.5.6_Install_Disc_Universal_Final.v2

If anyone have... it would be nice to know some "do" and "don'ts" about what to install or not. At the moment ALC882 and FW don't work but i will try the "delete-kext-fix" mentioned earlier on FW later.

thanks

XxX_x86_10.5.6_Install_Disc_Universal_Final.v2

I guess you're talking about iPC release of 10.5.6, right?

If so... there isn't much difference for us P5W dh owners between the v1 or v2 - cuz as far as i know the only difference is that in v2 they updated the Nforce mobo drivers.

So as long as you get the FINAL version of this release - it's doesn't matter which.

About what to chose during the installation - see the previous page of this thread where i explain what to chose and Y using that same release of OSx86...

Note:

the only problems I found so far:

1. Graphics card - if you got 512mb - you have to patch it's ROM, no EFIstring nor kext will help you overcome Darwin/VESA reporting problem.

2. Sound - it works only after patching the codec using Taruga's AppleHDApatcher and the right codec as listed in this forum. ( search for it... and use alc882 -address 0 as the right codec dump)

moreover, the sound works ONLY IN STEREO! so if you got 5.1 speaker system connected, like me, you must choose to hear from the front OR rear speakers - NO SURROUND ENABLE !

3. Time machine not recognize my HDD ( i use ICH7 chipset (not Jmicron)at IDE MODE not AHCI ... )

4. i haven't check sleep/firewire - so dunno if they works...

Good luck..

I dont think it is the same? http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=142876

I got lucky I guess but I think I got it working on first try. Still testing.

Graphics - works QE and all.

Sound - Yes, but only stereo

FW - Works after deletion of "the file"

Haven't tried TimeMachine yet.

Hi

Currently i am using the AppleHDA.kext patched by Taruga's AppleHDAPatcher v1.20, which work perfectly with my audio efi-string (i.e. no HDAEnabler.kext used)

However this patcher only patches the 10.5.2's one, which is a bit out-of-date. So i tried the Legacy AppleHDA for BOOT-132 as well as the MadTux's method, they both work greatly with the newest 10.5.6 AppleHDA.kext (v1.6.2), BUT both of them required the use of HDAEnabler.kext.

When i remove the HDAEnabler.kext from the extensions, non of them work.

I can confirm that my audio efi-string is correct (as i switch back to any Taruga's AppleHDA.kext, all of them work with the efi-string), i just want to ask whether you have encountered the same problem with me or is there any solution to make the efi-string work with the newest 10.5.6 AppleHDA.kext?

thank you so much

^i am using the patched DSDT and Chameleon 1.0.12/ EFI v9.

I just don't see why it won't work. It shows up in System Profiler but when i connect a device i get nothing. I'll check my connections and try again.

Can you please help us, by reporting:

Have you use Aggregate Device to enable 5.1 Surround?

Can you then hear a song in iTunes Without crashes ?

(Even if you don't have 5.1 speakers connected to your machine you can still emulate what I wrote, If the aggregate device work properly - iTunes wouldn't crash )

One more request:

Can you please publish your AppleHDA.kext v1.6.2, HDAenabler.kext files ?

May i understood you wrong and those link you supplied are the exact .kext files as on your machine ? I mean - have you edited them somehow ? if you did - PLEASE SHARE THEM FOR ALL OF P5W DH COMMUNITY :-)

I'll most appreciate your reply and help,

Thanks...

I have a question for all of you. I have a P5W and I am running a Core 2 Quad Q6600 running at 2.88 right now. When I look at that mac system information it says I am running a 2.88 unknow processor. My question is how do I know if it is seeing all the cores, and should it be telling me I have a Core 2 Quad. If it is supposed to show me that, how do I go about fixing that? I installed off of IPC 1.4 10.5.6.

Hi,

you can access "Activity Monitor" appz which in your Application\Utills folder.

In that program ( it's like the task manager in windows ) you can see a graphical representation of the online working threads.

to see that, click the CPU label on the bottom.

more over, you can use CPU-X ( Like CPU-Z in windows ) to see your CPU parameters.

Hi!

What about publishing those files ;-)

Thanks mate!

Need em too!

Well, the guy did PM me.... but he's not P5W owner any more, so he couldn't give us those kext I wrote about.

Nevertheless, he pointed out 2 possible solutions:

1. Legacy AppleHDA from 10.5.2 system from HERE.

Use the ALC882 Address 0 v4. ( v5 hasn't released yet )

2. MadTux's method on AppleHDA from 10.5.6 system.

On my mobo, i'd allready used the first solution, but the use of aggregate device (for 5.1/quadro surround support) on iTunes leads to his crash - so no luck with SURROUND with this kext fix. ( STEREO of course DID WORK... )

my guess because I use AppleHDA from 10.5.2 system, it isn't fully compatible with my 10.5.6 system

SO..

Have someone performed MadTux's method on 10.5.6 AppleHDA kext?

Can Someone PLEASE share that modified kext or the ORIGIONAL 10.5.6 AppleHDA NON MODIFIED ?

Attempting a boot-132 install on this board as my first hackintosh.

Bios 1901

execute enable

ahci mode for ide

Tried all three sata controllers and both ide ports to do the install. I still can't get the installer to recognize any hard disk I own when I get to the "Select a Desitnation" screen. I tried to google the topic but couldn't narrow the search enough.

Am I doing something wrong? What step am I missing?

bios 1901 is pretty old! i suggest updating to 2801 but thats just my personal preference. it should work fine with 1901 though.

you probably forgot to format your hard disk as HFS+ in disk utility. You can do this while booted off the Mac OS X Install CD. Hopes this helps!

Ok, got boot-132 method to install (Finally figured out that I needed resize my monitor so nothing would be off the screen). It was pretty simple from there.

TWO PROBLEMS:

EFI strings don't yield QE/QI support.

Sounds only comes out green port when "internal speaker" is selected in the software

I used the macita bootloader and efistudio 1.1 to create the efi partion. I used kernal extensions splintah linked + the ones on the GUI boot-132 cd. Created an efi string. created my efi partion using efstudio and force boot with -f flag.

For graphics I tried removing the natit extension but that removed QE/QI support but that shouldn't happen if I have EFI string for my device. What else do I need to remove/change?

Please help, would love to have a fully functioning hackintosh.

just got a native install set up almost perfectly using chameleon 2.0rc1. i'd been using leo4all v2 as a base for a long time and i have to say i'm very pleased with how the full retail install's gone. i've just added in a spare IDE drive on the jmicron controller. all my sata ports are being used on larger drives and i just want something small to install windows on. i want to keep it totally on another drive and completely untouched by anything mac related. all i want is for chameleon to see the drive and let me boot it. i think i read somewhere before about an older version of chameleon patched so it works with jmicron controllers. am i right in thinking i will have to wait for a newer version with jmicron support to be released? or am i just missing something simple? has anyone here got a jmicron ide drive being picked up by the new chameleon?

many thanks,

mass

Ok, figured out the EFI strings for the ethernet and 8600gt using efistudio along with HDEC (not sure what this is) but it couldn't find the audio.

Audio still comes out "Internal Speaker" selection instead of "Built-in Line Out". Any ideas? I'm surpised how easy it is to hackintosh though!

i think it always comes out internal speaker instead of the other one.

at least thats how it has been on my P5W for the past year.

real macs have internal speakers so that is the default audio out port. Does that make sense?

I just used surround sound on my p5w. I'm not sure what kext i'm using but i'll post them if you'd like. Its an AppleHDA.kext and and HDAEnabler.kext.

I'm using 10.5.6 btw.
