night_mare007
Hey ppl... Your the best community around about p5w dh & OSx86 ! Thank you so much for helping each other (which help me ALOT ! ) as you have already understand - i have READ and googled ALOT... I have few problem left unsolved: 1. How can i enable the two CPU cores ? ( i can boot only with cpus=1 cuz cpus=2 cause restart)....i'm using Vannila.... Edit 08.2.09 - ans:Install iPC 10.5.6 Final (FFP5 ): ( of course it's just for P5W DH ONLY using Core2Duo) 1. choose ONLY the following drivers/patches during install: < or look at the image attach > * i use PS/2 Keyboard + USB mouse ** you can choose any APPLICATION you want from the list *not shown in my image* - I recommend you to install Paragon NTFS instead of NTFS-3G that is include with iPC DVD. *** AppleSMBIOS Patch is not necessary - it's just so you'll be able to see current TEXT DESCRIPTION of your current RAM Mhz **** Choose ICHx Sata drivers ONLY if you connect your HDD to the INTEL CHIP controller instead of Jmicron ***** Use CPUS=1 Fix at start, it's safer. after the inatallation complete and boot WITHOUT any problems, try and reboot with "-v CPUS=2" at Darwin. if every things work OK and the OS load - change to CPUS=2 at the following file: /Library/ Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist - don't forget to repair permissions etc etc as usual... 2. I have 5.1 speakers (analog connected) - How can i enable surround sound ? ( I have working v4 drivers BUT CAN ONLY HEAR STEREO using "Taruga" guide (ie appleHDApatcher ect )) I mean - i have the ability to choose front OR rear speakers... not both together... Edit 08.2.09 - ANY SOLUTION YET ? ANYONE ? 3. I'm currently working with P/S2 keyboard - does HOME and END buttons support on OS X ? how can i enable them ? Edit 08.2.09 - ans:Install iPC 10.5.6 Final (FFP5 ) and choose the right patch for you as i told in que' 1. 4. How can i enable full support of my USB Logitec MX518 on OS X? ( side&speacial buttons NOT working - only standard buttons...) Edit 8.2.09 - in the meantime i got the mouse recognized by following 314TeR instructions - so i'm able to connect the mouse using the rear USB port and not just the front. afterward i got USB OverDrive installed - it kind of 80% works... i didn't got button 7&8 support. and as you have read - i tried the IntelliPoint method which- again - doesn't have full button support. so i'm planing to intall SteerMouse, and let it a try. ( i read somewhere that it got FULL MX518's buttons support ) p.s - under NO circumstances, DO NOT INSTALL "LLC" package from LOGITECH. Any other ideas? I would really appreciate your help... in advance...
night_mare007
so.. In the meantime i googled once more.. and found an answer to my MX518 Logitech mouse's buttons problem as describe at This site but with a little Tweaking... ( i saw that they found solution to the G5 mouse also ) In the end i got MX518, with the following controllable buttons at MS IntilliPoint screen: Left, Right, Middle, vertical Scroll, Forward, Back. What it didn't solve: 1. Mouse still operate at 1.5Mbs ( USB v1 ) 2. No special buttons support ( buttons 6,7,8 ) Exactly What i did: 1. Download and install Microsoft IntelliPoint from MS site. 2. navigate to /System/Library/Extensions/ MicrosoftMouse.kext/Contents/PlugIns/MicrosoftMouseUSB.kext/Contents 3. Edit info.Plist permission so it can be edit ( read+write ) and open it with TextEdit: 4. I ADDed after: <key>IOKitPersonalities</key> <dict> the following attached script 5. I changed the script's IDProduct & IDVendor according to "About this Mac"->hardware->USB using PlistEdit Pro. 6. Run OSx86Tools to "set extensions permissions" 7. Reboot and Enjoy... bigpoppa206
i have the exact same problem. my pci usb card now runs in usb 1.1 mode and 2 of the ports no longer work. including the internal one which is where i keep my bluetooth dongle plugged in. anyone got any ideas about this? many thanks, mass Delete AppleHPET.kext OR replace it with the one from 10.5 and see if that fixes your USB problem. Worked for me.

night_mare007
And how did you fixed your 2 cores processor problem? well... The system i worked with at the time i posted that message was Kalyway 10.5.2, upgrade to 10.5.6. i had the 2 core problem solved on that system only by entering force mode at Darwin.. ( -f switch ). Today, i got an iPC 10.5.6 Final version(FFP 5) on my mobo. when installed the OS - the 2 core problem never existed. BUT today, after fixing the audio, USB 2.0, and more bugs - i can Boot with cpus=2 ONLY WITH FORCE MODE ( -f )....! I hate that, it's annoying ! When i tried and boot only with verbose mode, my machine get stuck after: "still waiting for root device". but at list it's not entering restart loop..... My OS currently working on SATA HDD at IDE mode(dualboot with XP ) i don't want to change them to AHCI ( for what ? it's working = it's OK ) But still - Does that the only solution available ? ------------------------ Edit - few hours later.... Eureka ! I found the problem ! DO NOT INSTALL LITTLE SNITCHER ( 2.0.5 in my case ) and if you did - UNINSTALL IT ! of course don't forget to look in the "login items" that this **** program is not showing up! p.s - The minute i have installed iPC 10.5.6 Final (FFP 5) with Venilla 9.6 ( orig ) kernel i got DUAL CORE WORKING WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL ! but at the first restart after Little Sn****er was installed i got boot freeze. my lesson - :excl: check if the system is stable after every install perform on the mobo - cause not just drivers can cause your OSx86 to get freeze but also FRAKING programs... :excl: no more -f at darwin forever ! jricks92
hey just wondering... i had 10.5.6 installed when it came out but i had problems with sleep and usb2.0. I went back to 10.5.5. Its come a long way since then though, so i know usb has work around but does sleep work yet? i read on the HCL database that it works when you delete AppleHPET.kext. Can anyone confirm this? lord_webi
I have had the same problems with rear usb ports under 10.5.6 ... I tried a lot of different patches etc. ... no result ... on Sunday I installed iPC X-DL on another harddrive, did a migration and now it wokz perfectly ;-) ... including rear usb ports and sleep with vanilla 9.6 :-)
Paul Gleeson
Is there a solution to sleep with either 10.5.5 or 10.5.6 When I try sleep, it wakes up OK, but with some "noise" on the screen, and the mouse moving but not being able to click anything. lord_webi
Hi G5rocks I had the same problem with kernel_tast at 100%. After enabling the AHCI mode in BIOS everything looks to work perfect. No 100% at kernel_task for ca 60 minutes now. Hope it keep to work correctly! Thank you for the idea! I forget to say, sleep is broken. The LED is turned on and the fan still rotate. :-( Plz help somebody who know where the problem is! Deep Sleep never work, but it would be nice to get it to work! My machine: Leo 10.5.5 with Voodoo 1.0 Kernel Core 2 Duo E6600 2,4 GHz 4GB Ram ASUS P5W DH Deluxe hi, why are you using Voodoo Kernel ? With vanilla 9.6 (or any other original kernel) alle the sleep and start/restart stuff will work fine on that board ?! Is there a solution to sleep with either 10.5.5 or 10.5.6 When I try sleep, it wakes up OK, but with some "noise" on the screen, and the mouse moving but not being able to click anything. Paul this could be a combination of kernel, system.kext and/or gfx driver ! With such small information, nobody can help you !

I guess you have a AVM router? A fritzbox or Telekom router or a router originally made by AVM labeled with another brand? Those routers cause latency since 10.5.
Erño
I just noticed that when I put this hack to sleep and try to wake it up the screen goes ape{censored}. The graphics are really messy and the screen looks like a jigsaw puzzle from hell. The graphics card is the HD 2600 originally from my Mac Pro, but it works just fine for windows. No graphic issues there. Can anyone help me with this one? I'll try reinstalling the ATI HD isntaller package later, but I doubt it alone will help. cathy235
Kalyway OSX86 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 update method for Asus P5W DH Deluxe Hi note this is on a MBR formatted boot partition. 0) Back up extensions to a non firewire drive using OSX86 Tools v1.0.150. fix permissions and run FSCK. reboot. 1) run PCEFI v9 AKA Chameleon 1.0.12 updater. reboot and make sure its all good. 2) i did not need to run the DDST patcher. if you use other than the Vanilla kernel then i suggest you will need the DDST patcher but im not sure. 3) open Terminal and do the same thing that was used for the 10.5.4 and 10.5.5 updates re the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. this might not be required but it wont hurt and ive read that you will need to remove the kext after the 10.5.6 update. be careful with your typing here. open up Terminal and type "sudo su -" without the quotes. Enter your user password and then type "while sleep 1 ; do rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext ; done" without the quotes and with no space after the letters rf. hit the return button. 4) run the 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 update. do not use the combo update. before rebooting, close the terminal script by hitting Control + X within Terminal then close the Terminal. reboot, it will reboot twice. fix permissions. 5) in my case, USB and graphics were fine but ive read that some have lost USB after the update. as usual, audio was lost and as before just restore the AppleHDA and ALCinject kexts to fix the audio. firewire was broken too, to fix it restore the AppleHPET.kext v1.1 from the backed up extensions using Kext Helper B7. reboot and fix permissions and run FSCK. lets hope downgrading AppleHPET.kext does not lead to other problems. good luck PS, sleep is working fairly well with wake up from the tower's power button, but must enter sleep via "Safe Sleep" and after waking from sleep, best to reboot sooner than later. If it's taking a long time during POST (before you see the bootloader and the gray Apple screen) then go into your BIOS to the section that governs your fans and disable all of them, 3 I think. Save and reboot and see if that speeds it up. It's a known problem with the P5W.

Dmut
Hello You all ! First of all I did read many times here, some ppl have troubles with FW, in that case DELETE AppleHPET.kext in HD/sys/lib/extensions If You install iPC 10.5.6 in the proper settings FW should work rightout! I allways boot with -f after the first install, as it was often recommended. **** **** secondly : after 2 weeks googeling and trying here with iPCOSx86 on my P5W I finally found that place here, so I share my experiences here with You, but please forgive me, if I have basic things wrong due to less knowledge, but here my tries to find the proper settings in the iPC 10.5.6 installer: (This goes with a C2D 6600 2,4) The first I tried was the plain base sys, worked with great geekbenchs, but not really proper: version 1 x base system geekbench 32bit : 3333 geekbench 64bit : 3732 version 2 x base system x legacy TimeMachine fix x Intel ICHX x legacyJMicronATA x Legacy AppleHDA ALC882 Adress 0 x Marvell Yukon 88E8039/8053 x Realtek RTL8187/L x shutdown/restart fix x AppleSMBIOS hardcoded to 1066MHz DDR2 RAM sleep perfekt AHCI serial controller unknown 1 ATA Bus (IDE) time machine OK gb 32bit : 3346 gb 64bit : 3711 version 3 x base system x legacy TimeMachine fix x JMicronATA for JMicron IDE x LegacyAppleIntelPIIXATA x Legacy AppleHDA ALC882 Adress 0 x Marvell Yukon 88E8039/8053 x Realtek RTL8187/L x shutdown/restart fix x AppleSMBIOS hardcoded to 1066MHz DDR2 RAM froze at JMicron while booting version 4 x base system x legacy TimeMachine fix x LegacyAppleIntelPIIXATA x Legacy AppleHDA ALC882 Adress 0 x Marvell Yukon 88E8039/8053 x Realtek RTL8187/L x shutdown/restart fix x AppleSMBIOS hardcoded to 1066MHz DDR2 RAM sleep perfekt AHCI serial controller unknown 1 ATA Bus NO AudioDevices !!! In the thread I did read some used: x Patch DSDT x Patched USB Drivers x seatbelt.kext Are these really necessary ? **** **** In version 2 I could install Safari and Java per SW update with no following problems, only QT update 7.6 made the Finder>File>preferences crashing. All other versions I had allready after Safari update the same problem. USB speed I didnt watch yet, will do from now on. I also do not have more then 2 gig Ram installed yet, so I wonder what happens if I install 4 or 8 gigs... **** **** My personal Problem : I have a Gigabyte X1300XT Silent Pipe, which I really like cause of being silent. It is actually a X1600pro 71c2, but the 71c2 installer of the iPCOSx is {censored}... hangs while booting. I shipped around thw Problem using the 71c6 in the iPC Installer, the I get proper resolutionsettings, but no QE/CI Maybe someone can help me in simple hints... But anyway, big thanks to the maker of the iPC DVD, this is great work !!!
