I haven't use UInstaller

i 'm using Trauma pack with Chameleon V12 (perhaps this make the difference)

Trauma

IPC install kext which aren't required by our board, so i prefer a retail vanilla install

The pack i've posted has been installed on several config with P5W DH Deluxe without problem

So i invite you to follow the procedure i described

 

could you describe what's your kernel_task problem ? i haven't meet with

I Installed this system in october 2007 and it was working fine with all of the upgrades... after a while i noticed it's not as snappy as a fresh installed one. But now it's dramatically worse when doing things with real time graphics i get stutters - so i checked with process viewer and found out that the kernel_task is going to 90-110% some minutes after booting.

 

Describing the problem of the kernel_task and what that means for performance is easy - screenshot of process viewer while nothing else but mail, safari and process viewer is open:

Try this simple Retail install method i've already posted to the french forum

This board is the most compatible (for the moment !) and does not require as many mods as other boards

Some keyboards are not working (do not wake), i suggest Apple Alu

Required : Apple DVD 10.5.x, fonctionnal OSX, a formated GUID hd

Mount Apple DVD and open terminal:

 

cd /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install\ DVD/System/Installation/Packages/

 

open OSInstall.mpkg

 

Sélect the target disk and personalise, remove languages and printers

Then Update 10.5.6 combo

 

Use Chameleon_v1012.pkg to make the bootloader

Configure Extensions.mkext with mkextMaker and put in Extra folder

 

P5W-DH-Deluxe-Extra-folder

 

contains;

SMBIOSResolver.kext / infos sn

LegacyIOAHCIBlockStorage.kext / Orange Sata icônes

LegacyHDAPlatformDriver.kext / Audio

LegacyHDAController.kext / Audio

HDAEnabler.kext / Audio

dsmos.kext / Dont Steal Mac OS X.kext disabler

Disabler.kext / AppleHPET.kext disabler (Firewire) & AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext only

 

It's not necessary to repair permissions

reboot with F8 -v -f

 

Edit com.apple.Boot.plist (Ethernet+Display) with EFIStudio or terminal

 

Bios configuration;

Configuration IDE in AHCI and Execute Disable Function in Enabled

 

latest bios : P5W-DH-Deluxe-2801.ROM

 

Add Realtek RTL8187/L for using the WIFI (from a distrib or dl from realtek website)

What exactly needs to be done for the ethernet and display to com.apple.boot.plist? and what installer are you using to get the onboard audio to work? Everything else is working fine for me but, im noticing a lag in flash and i have no audio

Just need to edit com.apple.Boot.plist with EFIStudio for Display and Ethernet,

For a 2600 i think you have to use Natit.kext

Sound is (Legacy AppleHDA for BOOT-132 ALC882 beta v4) in the Extensions.mkext i posted (go to the preferences system board)

can i still boot to Windows XP with these settings? I remember something about AHCI f***ing up windows XP installations.

 

Can i use your mkext on an iatkosv5 install or will something missing? (i have no GUID partitions available)

I already trie your mkext but then my eSATA drive will not be recognized. So maybe there is something missing in my iatkos install?

What would be the ideal settings for iatkos installation?

 

I still get the kernel_task problem with my new installation :D

Aliab, your extensions.mkext package works really well - many thanks. You might want to add to it the "ApplePS2kexts_10.5.6.ready" that can be found in these forums to add PS2 keyboard and mouse support. I unpacked your extensions.mkext file and repacked it with these 2 PS2 extensions and got PS2 support without having to add these kexts to the extensions folder(which would have worked as well, of course). Nice to be able to have a purely Vanilla install of the OSX operating system with the P5WDH Deluxe motherboard.

G5rocks: In order to avoid getting a blue screen with your XP install once you switch from IDE to AHCI in the bios, you will need to reinstall XP and use/tap the F6 key right at the beginning of the process in order to install AHCI drivers from a floppy disk for the ICH7DH chipset used on the P5WDH motherboard. These AHCI drivers are on the CD that came with your motherboard. You can also download the AHCI drivers for the ICH7 chipset from Intel, but they're not easy to locate. There are ways to install these AHCI drivers into an existing XP install in various forums, but it's quite complicated, and a clean install of XP with F6 is the best way to go, unless you have a lot invested in your current XP install and don't want to redo it.

There are also ways to convert a retail OSX install DL DVD to one that will install to MBR partitions by removing one line of code from the OSInstall.mpkg buried inside the retail Leopard DVD, but this is not an easy job either. As it is now, the Leopard retail install DVD will only install OS X to a GUID partitioned hard drive which may not be convenient or possible if you don't have a separate hard drive for OSX in your computer.

It was really really easy! :P It took just 5 minutes for downloading, editing and 2 reboots - first time ever that i did something like that on a PC (i never had a PC before, i am a macuser since 1991) and i must say it was much easier than exchanging a kext on the mac.

For those who also might need to know how it works to install AHCI drivers for the P5W DH Deluxe on an already installed windows xp:

 

 

1) Make sure AHCI is not enabled in your BIOS.

2) Boot XP

3) Download: http://rapidshare.com/files/68377915/AHCI_...WS_XP_PATCH.zip

4) unzip it

5) Open (your unzip location)\AHCI WINDOWS XP PATCH\PREPARE\IMSM_PRE.inf with a texteditor

6) Replace any instance of "XXXX" with "27c1" (worked fine with search and replace)

7) Save the file and close the texteditor.

8) run (your unzip location)\AHCI WINDOWS XP PATCH\PREPARE\INSTALL.CMD

9) Shut down

10) Enable AHCI in your BIOS and save.

11) Start Windows XP, The Found New Hardware wizard will start automatically. CLICK CANCEL

12) Download the latest driver of "Intel® Matrix Storage Manager" from http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/imsm/

13) Open the folder containing the Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver and run the Setup.exe (in my case the name of the .exe was "iata87cd"

14) Reboot

Hi Everyone,

 

I'm trying to get a working 10.5.6 system. Currently I have 10.5.5 based on a Kalyway 10.5.2 + upgrades install. Everything works great.

 

I've been trying to upgrade / or new install 10.5.6 (iPC)

 

Seems I need different AHCI kexts to get it to boot, and even then I can't see the NTFS drives I have connected. In 10.5.5 I can.

 

Any ideas, or revised kexts I need.

I don't know if it's worth to upgrade with this HPET problem - no one knows if some software might not run without the kext. I thought i could avoid deleting the HPET kext by adding a USB2.0 PCI card but it does not work - the USB PCI card also runs in USB 1.1 mode!

Can anyone help me figure out which kext files I need to get PS2 mouse and keyboard working with 10.5.6

 

Everything works with 10.5.5, and if I do a clean 10.5.6 install (this has other problems) but an upgrade to 10.5.6 does not recognize my mouse and keyboard anymore

Hey everyone.

 

I have but ONE issue.

 

I have installed leopard (10.5.4 retail dvd) with the help of macita's boot 132 iso cd.........

 

Updated to 10.5.6 with no issues

 

The only thing i can't seem to do is boot from the hard drive, instaling PC-EFI v9+Chameleon 1.0.12 combo seems to almost work except i get a kernel panic halfway through booting telling me i need to restart.

 

Chameleon 1.0.11 makes my system hang at the grey apple logo with a spinning circle at the bottom

 

If anyone has successfully installed an EFI solution to enable hard drive booting with my config please tell me how you did it, thanks!

Why don't you use the kexts from aliab? http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=42915

You can extract them with a tool - i forgot it's name (i'm not at home so i can't look for the name)

I just got an ATI 2600 XT Graphics Card Because my GT6600 was having problems with the screen flashing blue every 30 seconds or so, so I got my new card working alright but I had to install a driver for it, the thing is, is that I have to use my GT6600 video-card to install the driver because without the driver my ATI card just shows a Funky Disco looking screen when it should show the desktop, so if I were to do a reinstall I would have to use my GT6600 video-card to install OS X and then install the driver for my ATI card and then I could Use my ATI card without a problem.

 

And yes, I do have a P5W-DH Deluxe

 

The thing is is that I want to sell my GT6600 so I need to be able to reinstall without using two video card.

 

The install method I an using is the Boot 132 Disk with a Retail Leopard Install DVD.

 

I am guessing I have to add a kext to my Boot 132 Disk?

 

If so, Can you give me a link to somewhere where I can Find it.

 

And I am Running 10.5.4 and I have no plans to update because I do not want to have to find new kexts for the firewire and sound.

So I have PC EFI v9 Chameleon 10.1.12 installed, and a dsdt.aml file in my root directory.

(My disk is MBR not GUID. For this setup does it matter?)

 

In the extras folder in the root directory, I should add the kexts from aliab? http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=42915

Then I should be able to do a vanilla upgrade from 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 right?

 

Is this the same as having an EFI GUID partition with the kexts in?

Is your BIOS set up correctly? Otherwise I'd see if there is a conflict with some kexts.

Is your BIOS set up correctly? Otherwise I'd see if there is a conflict with some kexts.

 

 

 

Don't thinck it is the BIOS. Search about Seatbelt.kext. MAny many post about .DMG causing KP.

I'm up and running with an upgraded 10.5.6 on my backup partiton. I will clone my main partition and repeat the steps to be sure.

then I might try a vanilla retail install, and apple update. Just for fun ;-)

 

I put Aliab's packed kext files into the /extra folder, but I had to use different AHCI and PS2 ones. The audio did not work either, but I fixed this post upgrade with the audio.pkg install.

 

BTW, which kexts are required for the audio. I would like to put them in the /extra folders (packed of course) as well.

i have the exact same problem. my pci usb card now runs in usb 1.1 mode and 2 of the ports no longer work. including the internal one which is where i keep my bluetooth dongle plugged in. anyone got any ideas about this?

Hi G5rocks I had the same problem with kernel_tast at 100%. After enabling the AHCI mode in BIOS everything looks to work perfect. No 100% at kernel_task for ca 60 minutes now. Hope it keep to work correctly! Thank you for the idea!

 

I forget to say, sleep is broken. The LED is turned on and the fan still rotate. :-(

Plz help somebody who know where the problem is!

 

Deep Sleep never work, but it would be nice to get it to work!
