Asus P5W DH Deluxe thread for 10.5.x Leo - 10.9.x Mavericks

Hi, I just installed leopard 10.5.4 with the 132 Boot CD, and installed Chameleon so now I can boot off of the hard drive without the 132 Boot CD.

 

But there are two problems that I am having:

 

The first is that if I am doing anything that demands a lot of graphic processing power(playing games or watching videos) my screen starts to flash blue once every few seconds?

 

the second problem is that the monitor doesn't wake up from sleep(the computer dose but the monitor doesn't)?

 

I suspect that this has to do with the video card, the one that I am using is the Nvidia 6600GT

 

Any help would be great!!!

There is a fix for the Black Screen problem here in Forum. You can search for it.

 

Rest I don't know. Have an other setup.

Both work out of the box. Just delete the AppleHPET.kext and everything should be fine. Are your BIOS settings correct? Because sleep works for me.

It will work with the last Apple Keyboard ALU

I had the same problem (NVidia 7300GT) it didn't wake from sleep even with a old Apple usb 1.1

Both work out of the box. Just delete the AppleHPET.kext and everything should be fine. Because sleep works for me.

didn't work for me. I deleted only HPET (KP), both HPET and appleintelcpupowermanagement (KP).

Is there a specifc BIOS Setting which enable FireWire ports?

The folder path to the kext is something like this: Your_HD/System/Library/Extensions/the_kext

Removing the HPETkext worked for me. Now the machine sleeps and wakes and the rear panel USB ports work aswell

Little OT: does anyone know if an ATI HD 2600 from my real Mac Pro will work on my hack pro? I'm getting the HD 3870 for my Mac and thought I might as well replace the 7300 GT on the hack with the old card from the Mac If it's possible, I mean.

Also, I have noticed that things dont seem to be running as they should. I have iPC OSx86 10.5.6 installed with the following drivers;

 

NVinject 256mb - GFX

JMicron - IDE

ALC882 - sound

Realtek Drivers - Ethernet & Wireless

USB Mount Fix

 

I have also removed AppleHPET.kext and done as suggested above by adding the correct EFI string.

 

If I go to System Prefs and test the screensaver 'Flurry', it is really jerky and not as it should be.

Just tried this with a Kalyway 10.5.2 install, then updated to 10.5.6 using combo update.

 

Turns out Im still suffering from the same problems, is 10.5.6 not well supported with this mobo?

hi everyone i am a newbie i need help i am trying to install an original leo 10.5.5 that i got from my mac book on a p5w dh with bios 2704 with the tutorial on page 23 with burn me iso, i put all my bios seting like it says i start up the loader and put in leo punch in -v and it gives me a ``fail to load extension com.apple.driver.applesmbios`` i`ve installed leo4all iatkos and ipc with success on this pc but struggling with this i`ve gotten all the isos burnme galaxie p5w dh generic but nothing works.

I just discovered that one of my PCI slots ins't recognised in osx.

 

It's the top ordinary slot that isnt a little one or PCI extreme...

 

anyone know how to get it working? the card in it shows up in OSX86Tools but the system profiler can't see it...

No success here, my GFX is Geforce 7300gt 256Mb. Hmmm... I dont no what todo. Maybe its time to upgrade to 9400gt...

Computer powers up (heatsink rotating) but does not boot. I cant enter bios, i don't get any beeps whatsoever from speaker.

The green LED light on the bottom right is on. It doesnt blink or anything it is just on.

 

Is green light on just for the kicks or does that mean that board is A okay and i just messed up somewhere in the process?

 

I am floating as i have no idea whether my board is dead or not. I tried with another CPU (Celeron D 335) but to no success.

I've tried entering BIOS without CPU - no success.

I've reset CMOS (removing battery for about 10 mins) put it back in - no success.

PSU is LC Power 550W brand new. Every component is brand new apart from this board (i bought it second hand).

 

I've lost all my hope, was googling a bit, but people were already post this phase so theres not much help online.

Unbeliveble.

 

I had the same Problem. - I fix it.

 

Listen: At last it was my Powersupply.

 

Do that before: Remove all not needed Cards and Memory (let one inside at the Orange place, close to the CPU...). and try an other Powersuply. Then Your card will awake again. Simply ask an frand, if You dont have an other Computer, and use for a test his one.

 

I was long time searching the problem, newer thinked that it can be that, because the green lamp was shining, and the CPU fan was working. Than a friend sayd me, that this is no sign. The modern Powersuplys have independet parts. One can work, an an other can be broken.

Hope you all can help me. ive been having EXTREMELY slow boot times. At the first boot screen it hangs there for a good minute before moving on. When ever I press Del to go into bios setup, EVERYTHING is slow to load. Just moving around in Setup takes forever. No idea what is wrong. I've upgraded the bios as well as reset the cmos.

Any help is appreciated

Kalyway 10.5.1 installed, all working 100%, used NVinject 0.21 for graphics

 

Bios Settings for booting Mac:

-Go to IDE configuration and change the ide/sata mode to AHCI

-Enable “Execute Disable function”

-Turn off Speedstep Settings (unless you plan to use a hacked speedstep kernel)

-Change the Jmicron Controller to AHCI (only if you are using Jmicron,

otherwise, disable it)

-MicroCode Update: Enabled

Yes i have. I've tried the following

1. CPU+GPU+RAM+ mobo

2. CPU+GPU+ mobo

3. CPU + mobo

 

I have tried all options using 2 different PSUs. Result was the same. Heatsink fan, green led light, no beeps.

Pressing del, F1 and ESC wouldn't help either.

 

I think im gonna give up on this one. €55 (~ $75 US) down the drain :/

I am getting EP45-DS3R instead and hopefully i will post this on my new hack.
