gary88
Hi, I have an Asus P5W DH Deluxe updated to 10.5.6 with pc_efi V9 and DSDT Patcher, after that all thing worked fine, but one issue was new My USB Bus is very slow (only 1,5 MB(sec) I think it turned back to usb 1 .Is there anybody who has an idea ?? And I have to give a warning, when you update from 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 you cannot simply copy apple hda.kext or other kexts from the old to the new system. use kexthelper and repair the user rights after installing before you restart otherwise your system will not start again
Le-Bebop
I tried to test 10.5.6.. I took my second partition and I try to transfer it in a second internal HD with Carbon Copy Cloner( to have the principal partition alone in an independant HD), and install EFI V9 in the same time.. (erase destination disk, install EFI, then "backup everythings" in CCC".. And I have the lovely "still waiting for root device".. I tried to reinstall EFI V8, but same thing... Any idea? Yes, you probably have a UUID set in your com.apple.Boot.plist. So, it starts to boot then encounters a request for the first drive and stops. Remove all custom strings from your com.apple.Boot.plist file on the new drive and boot it. Then run EFI Studio or the like to replace your strings. I'll just add (or replace) that: <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>rd=diskXsY</string> isn't it? thanks for your reply!
npwski
Guys, solution for update-10.5.6 (problem with lost EHCI USB-ports) is here (post#9), it's IOPCIFamily.kext from Slice. All my USB-ports is working with this one. Also all kind of sleep (suspend-to-ram, suspend-to-disk) is working too.

Silpheed
In trying to fix my sleep problem (Waking From USB mouse or Keepboard and getting no video, wake perfect from power button) i have discovered a fix for my firewire. I set Legacy USB to Enabled in my bios and.... Baam! I have my My Book Back. Hope this helps for those with Firewire problems. edit: BTW I am using Munky's EFI boot, Macita's kexts from p5w_dh boot132 iso. Lost my firewire from 10.5.6 update. edit: I continue to mess with bios settings to solve sleep prob. And now i cannot mimic the settings to get firewire back again. will keep you posted. Sorry for false alarms.

Silpheed
Didnt use my USB ports very much last night. Copied small files back and forth, seemed to be normal. However, my VMWare XP is located on my Firewire external hard drive. That took forever to load up. So very poor performance comiong from Firewire. Since i got my Firewire back the 2nd time, i have not rebooted, kinda scared to. Dont want to loose my My Book. I guess i will give it a go, i am curious now. I will let you guys know. Take care. therhymer
Hi, I have P5W and Kalyway 10.5.5 working perfectly I am trying to change to munky's EFI boot however I can't find a combination of kexts that will boot into 10.5.5 with a vanilla install (combo updated from 10.5.0 retail). 10.5.1 I can get to boot. anyone who is running a completely vanilla retail install of 10.5.5 or 10.5.6 on the P5W and patching from EFI partition or similar, could you please list what kexts or other files are loading from yr EFI? many thanks! aliab
With Vanilla install chameleon v12 "Extra folder" or EFI bootloader these kexts for a perfect P5W under 10.5.5 + an efi string for your video and ethernet dsmos.kext HDAEnabler.kext IntelCPUPMDisabler.kext LegacyHDAController.kext LegacyHDAPlatformDriver.kext SMBIOSResolver.kext IOAHCIBlockStorage.kext with 10.5.6 update the FireWire do not work
therhymer
I have all of those except SMBIOSResolver.kext i have SMBIOSEnabler.kext i will try again with the ones listed do i need particular versions of these kexts? ethernet was already working even in safe mode... EDIT, I tried and it didn't boot... differences from what you said were: SMBIOSEnabler.kext instead of SMBIOSResolver.kext no EFI strings. but all I'm trying to do is get it to boot at all not in safe mode... there must be something else wrong! Erño
There is a link for the 132 boot iso for this mobo in the DFE boot resource thread. Check it out. Worked perfectly for my hack.

HawgGuy
Definitely need to fix the Firewire. Easy install with PCwiz UInstaller OSX86. All working well as far as I can tell - EXCEPT - Firewire. That's a show stopper for me.
therhymer
I have loads of FW related kexts in my working 10.5.5 kalyway install, would using one of those on the EFI partition fix the firewire? I have no idea which one tho, someone who actually understands this stuff... can you help?
therhymer
I tried IOPCIFamily.kext 2.5.4 as linked above, but it prevented my install from booting, even in safe mode... so i had to remove it again. also sleep is not working - it works with my kalyway 10.5.5, but not with vanilla 10.5.6 so its not my bios. Mac1nth0sh
on my p5w dh motherboard, with EFIv9 and vanilla install, Firewire stopped working. Everything else works perfectly, including suspend & deep sleep. My extensions for boot in /Extra are: AppleDecrypt.kext, appleSMBIOS.kext, AppleSMBIOSEnabler.kext, IntelCPUPMDisabler.kext. If I add ApplePCIConfigurator.kext in /Extras, then firewire is recognized but the system becomes superslow and USB seems to revert to 1.1 (+ losing mouse & keyboard on some ports) If that can help anyone figure out what's wrong with Firewire, that would be great!!! therhymer
on mine the sleep has decided to work now - i didn't change anything AFAIK so its just the FW to fix... luckily I have a FW PCI board that is working fine... BTW what are suspend and deep sleep? mine only has one sort of sleep in the menu. what am I missing?
Mac1nth0sh
EFI v9 brings support for deep sleep (thanks to Netkas!) Check info on sleep modes at http://www.macworld.com/article/53471/2006/10/sleepmode.html
